“I need to make money fast and legally. Are there any ways to do it?”
Sure there are!
But, in order o get that cash fast, you need to (in most cases) forget about the traditional ways you build a business.
When there is an urgent need for some quick cash, there simply is no time for goal setting, planning, execution and everything else that goes with creating a long term money making business.
If you ever found yourself in a position where you think to yourself “I need money now,” here are a few ways you can make some fast cash legitimately and without doing anything illegal.

Let’s start with a few offline options that you can take advantage of to get your hands on some quick cash legally.
1. Offer Small Services in Your Neighborhood
With Christmas coming, it could be an ideal time to offer your services to help neighbors and families put up Christmas lights.
You can advertise your service through flyers distribution, or simply post them on those bulletin boards of the grocery stores.
The rate may vary depending where you are, but I think it is reasonable to ask for about $100, perhaps more if there is more work.
You can charge your service based on an hourly rate, but most homeowners would be more comfortable dealing with a flat rate.
Get on with the idea now.
Start knocking on doors straight away as there are families who have already get started with their holiday decoration.
You will come across families who want your engagement only some weeks down the road.
Don’t get discouraged by that.
At least you are guaranteed of some income in the future.
After all, Christmas Day is not movable, it invariably falls on the 25th day of December.
Get your business cards or flyers and hand them out at every opportunity.
You can also leave them inside empty shopping carts lying around the shopping malls.
- Design a service package that is attractive. For example, you can propose to hang Christmas decoration and lights and take them down when Christmas is over.
- Always include family and friends in your distribution list designed to publicize your service.
- Make a habit of using calendar/appointment book so that every detail (like schedules and addresses) of each transaction is recorded. This helps you to make sure you don’t inadvertently skip any appointment.
- Anybody can hang lights unless you have a problem with ladders or heights. If Christmas lighting is not your thing, you can always choose housecleaning or snow shoveling.
Turn It into a Long-term Business
Well, there is always the New Year’s celebration right after Christmas, so you could be assured of plenty of casual work in the days after Christmas.
But what happens if your financial situation goes on for an even longer period?
The good news is there are always odd jobs you can do here and there.
People will always need somebody to cut the grass, organize the garage, rake the leaves, etc.
I was once paid $70 just to set up a plug and play entertainment center.
I also got $50 for clearing garden and $25 for shoveling snow.
The opportunities are out there, you just have to be willing to get down and dirty.
Don’t forget Craigslist. It’s the best place to find quick and easy gigs in your local area that can put fast cash in your pocket.
2. Donate Blood Plasma
This is perhaps the fastest way to get the cash.
Many blood donation centers will actually pay you as soon as they get your blood.
Do a simple search online, or check out this post to find the nearest blood donation centers. You will have your cash in hand within hours.
3. Sell Some Clothes to Your Local Plato’s Closet
Another great way to hold the green in your hand within an hour or so is to sell your clothes.
Take some of your clothes (preferably old and unused ones) to your local Plato’s Closet (or an equivalent store).
They pay you cash right then and there.
On top of selling clothes, you can also sell them sunglasses, belt, shoes, and other accessories.
I usually don’t like to recommend this as most pawn shops give you a small fraction of the value of what you are pawning,.
But as a last resort, it’s an option that exists.
The good thing is that you can pawn almost anything (tools, jewelry, electronics, etc).
Here are a few ways you can use the internet to make some fast cash.
5. Offer Google Local Listings
Recently I wrote a step by step guide where I explain how one can make at least $400 a month by simply offering Google Local listing services to small local businesses.
But the gist of the idea is this: If you’re one confident chap who knows the nitty-gritty of Internet marketing like the back of your hand, you probably know that every business owner wants to be listed on Google.
Seek out local companies who don’t have a listing in Google Local.
Give them a call and tell them you’ll get them listed for 100 bucks (or whatever amount you think is fair).
It takes you less than 30 minutes to list a business on Google Local.
Sure, doing this once or twice you may not make a lot of money fast, but imagine getting a few clients every week – it can add up to a decent amount of money to the point where you may be able to do this regularly and expand it beyond your local area.
6. Good Old Craigslist
Another idea revolves around selling stuff that you no longer need or use.
Craigslist is my favorite online platform to list out my unwanted items.
I once sold my iPhone for a cool $160 in just under an hour. It wasn’t even in the most impeccable condition, as the audio and speakerphone had not been working well.
I also got rid of my Sidekick phone that had been laying around, for $100 in just 20 minutes.
I understand when there is a shortfall in cash situation, things can get really desperate.
Some people resort to illegal activities. But making money illegally is not for most people. Most of us don’t like the idea of breaking the law to make a buck.
Thankfully, you don’t have to do anything illegal to make money.
As you can see from this post, there are options out there.
