There are apps out there that will pay you to display ads and other content on your phone’s lock screen. This is such an easy way to make money.
According to one of the sites on our list below, you can earn $20 a month from this.
You don’t have to engage with the content if you don’t want to. You can just unlock your phone as you normally would.
Before we get onto these apps, it’s important to note that all of them are solely available for Android devices. So if you have an iPhone, then you won’t be able to use them. So, skip this section – there are plenty of other iOS apps available in the other sections that pay you.

52. Mr. Rebates

Get cashback when you shop through ShopAtHome. This website features a plethora of stores from Amazon to Macy’s. At the time of writing, you could get 3% cashback at Amazon and up to 6% cashback at Macy’s. When you sign up you get a $10 bonus too.
Another really great online shopping portal is TopCashBack. What’s great about it is the high cashback rate it offers. It’s common to see 10% cashback offers on there.
CouponCabin features over 3,000 partner sites. The cashback rate on offer varies. For example, you can get 7% cashback from Mac and 4% cashback at Estee Lauder.
And, there are also dollar amount offers available too. For example, you can get $100 back when you spend $100 at Walmart and $50 back when you spend $50 at Sam’s Club.
The online shopping portal BeFrugal features 5,000 stores, such as Best Buy, Target, Macy’s and Amazon. You can get your cashback via PayPal, Amazon gift card or check. There are coupons available too.
Using Extrabux, you can earn up to 30% cashback on purchases at more than 2,500 stores. What’s great about the platform is that its cashback rates can be high and it has such a wide range of stores available to shop at.
And if you install the Extrabux browser extension, it will automatically track your cashback even if you go directly to a store’s website. So, you always get cashback if you shop at a participating store. Plus, there are coupons available too and you get a $5 bonus just for joining.

After you connect it to your account, it analyses your data, such as your goals, spending habits and current finances to reveal insights about your finances. Then it recommends investment strategies that are tailored to your needs.
Betterment is an independent, online financial advisor and automated investing service. It helps you to invest money into a globally diversified portfolio of index-tracking exchange traded funds (ETFs).
The app chooses the funds for you, and it also recommends asset allocation. Plus, it handles things like reinvesting your dividends, auto depositing, rebalancing and more. Your money is SIPC protected.
The app has two different pricing plans available too, based on your financial needs.

Jobs include things like helping people to move, delivering stuff, shopping, handyman work, cleaning, and furniture assembly. You can set your own rates and work when you want.
An interesting app that you can use to make money is Gigwalk. Using it, you can find quick jobs, called Gigs, in your area. Gigs are represented by a pin on the map in the app.
Each job takes anywhere from just five minutes to a few hours to complete. Once you’ve completed a job, you get paid for it through PayPal. Payment ranges from $3 to $100 per job.
Complete shifts and EasyShift will pay you. All you need to do during a shift is visit nearby stores and other businesses, then take photos on site and complete surveys, You get paid via PayPal within 48 hours once you complete a shift.

Since we originally published this post, many apps have come and gone. Our original list contained over 150 money making apps, but many have shut down since. We are keeping them in this section for archival reasons and for those of you who may be wondering “what happened to X app?“.
Fronto gives you cash through PayPal or Amazon gift cards for displaying content on your phone’s lock screen.
With Clashot, you can earn money from your photographs.
All you need to do is download and install the app, and then upload your photos.
Your photo will be moderated and once approved, it will be available for sale to millions of buyers.
When your image sells, you get a commission. You can withdraw your earnings through PayPal or Skrill.
The best part is you can sell your photos for an unlimited number of times, meaning you can make money over and over from the same photo.
Loot is one of the most interesting apps that make you money.
Using it, you get paid for sharing and creating content for brands.
You work as a micro-endorser for brands.
Essentially, if you take photos of the products you use and share them on sites like Twitter and Facebook, you earn rewards.
Perk gives you points when you try apps, play games, and answer trivia questions. You can redeem your points for gift cards for places like Amazon, Walmart, Gap, and Target.

ScreenPay will pay you when you display personalized deals and promotions on your phone’s lock screen. Payment is sent via PayPal.
Another app that pays you cash when you display ads on your phone is Paid Unlock. With this app, ads appear on your phone’s lock screen, and you get paid via PayPal in return.

With this app, all you need to do is download the apps and games it features and run them.

This app works a little differently from the others on this list. This app puts a mini-survey on your phone’s lock screen. When you answer these surveys, you earn points. When you get 10,000 points you can redeem them for cash through PayPal.
MobiSave pays you for itemized receipts. You can shop anywhere, and as long as you have an itemized receipt, you’ll get paid via PayPal. There’s no minimum withdrawal amount to cash out, and you get the payment within 24 hours, which is great.
BerryCart will give you cashback when you upload photos of your receipts. You can get paid via PayPal or put your cashback onto a gift card.
BevRAGE will pay you when you buy beer, wine or spirits. Basically, you get paid to buy booze! All you need to do is select the offer you want, purchase the alcohol featured in the offer you redeemed, and then upload a photo of your receipt. You get paid via PayPal or check. Walmart Savings Catcher
Walmart Savings Catcher is essentially a price matching tool. When you upload a receipt from Walmart, the app checks it to see whether you paid the best price for the stuff you bought at the time.
If the app finds that you bought an item at Walmart that was available at a lower price at another store during the same time period, then you will get a refund for the difference.
Let’s say you bought laundry detergent for $5 at Walmart, but at the same time Target had a sale on. So the exact same detergent costs just $3 at Target. If that’s the case, then Walmart will give you $2 back in store credit. Check out our Walmart Savings Catcher review for more information.
Buy items from featured brands, and app Jingit will pay you via direct deposit into your bank account. All you need to do is upload a photo of your receipt.
