Taking online surveys for money is one of the best and easiest ways to make money online especially for beginners. And paid survey apps make taking surveys on the go even easier and more convenient.
Some survey apps pay via PayPal and check, some give you free gift cards for places like Amazon and others offer other prizes like sweepstakes entries.

Paid Survey Tips: How to Make More Money
Taking surveys is a good way to earn money. Since there are so many survey apps out there, now you can make money on your smartphone. The apps above are great for earning extra cash.
In this section, I just wanted to cover some tips for success when it comes to using survey apps and websites.
Set up an email account just for surveys
Because survey panels send out survey invites and other emails, it can be easy for your inbox to become a little cluttered. That’s why it’s such a great idea to set up a separate email account that’s just for survey websites. Use this to sign up for apps. You can easily get a free email address from Gmail or Outlook.
This will keep your inbox clutter free and also help you to avoid missing any survey invites among your regular emails.
Join multiple survey websites
Okay, so one of the best pieces of advice I have when it comes to making money with paid survey apps is to join multiple apps.
The reason for this is because you likely won’t meet the criteria for every survey offered on a single app.
Some surveys will be looking for men in their 30s who are college-educated, and others may want those who are over 50. It really just depends on the demographic that a survey is looking to gain insight from.
This can mean that there are times when an app has no surveys on offer that you actually qualify for.
So, you can be left without the chance to earn money. That’s why it’s such a good idea to sign up for multiple survey sites. By doing this, you can increase the number of surveys that you actually qualify for.
Check your emails regularly
Okay, so my next tip is to check your emails and notifications regularly. Survey sites and apps send out invites to surveys by email or through notifications.
Some surveys are only open for a short period of time, like a day, or sometimes less than that. And some surveys are only open to a small number of participants, so these openings are on a first come first serve basis.
This means that if you don’t keep an eye out for survey invites, the survey can close or all of the spots can fill up. This means that you miss out on the chance to make money.
So, to ensure that you don’t miss out on survey opportunities, make sure that you check your email and notifications often.
Cash in when you reach the withdrawal limit
My next tip is a simple one and it’s to cash out your earnings as soon as you hit the withdrawal limit.
Now, it can seem like a good idea to wait for your points to build up so that you can withdraw a larger amount of cash at once. However, you could actually lose out on your earnings if you don’t cash out as soon as possible.
The reason for this is that on some sites and apps, the points you earn expire. So, if you wait too long to withdraw your earnings, you could lose the cash you’ve earned. So, when you reach the withdrawal limit, make sure that you cash out your earnings.
When you complete surveys, make sure that you are honest. This is important because if you’re not honest, then you could be penalized if you contradict yourself or give inadequate responses. Also, don’t pretend to be someone you’re not in order to get more surveys. It’s always best to be honest as then you won’t have to worry about contradicting yourself and missing out on future survey opportunities as a result.
How to Avoid Survey Scams
I’ve talked a lot about how surveys are good for making money. Yeah, you don’t make a ton of cash, but still, it’s a pretty easy way to make money from your phone.
While survey apps may provide an easy way to make money, they are not without their issues. The biggest issue is that the survey industry is rife with scams.
There are tons of scam sites and apps out there that claim to pay you for taking surveys, yet they never do.
Sadly, not all survey apps and websites are legit. Many of them are outright scams or they are just not great and will do things like taking ages to pay, etc.
Now, it’s so important to protect yourself against these scams. No one wants to be scammed but it can happen to any of us. That’s why you need to take some steps to avoid them. In this section, I have some really simple tips on how to avoid survey scams. Make sure you keep these in mind when trying out survey apps.
Don’t pay to join a site
Okay, so the biggest red flag to look out for is any website or app that makes you pay to join. No site should ever ask you to pay to join.
Legit survey apps will allow members to sign up for free. All of the apps listed above are free to join. A legit survey company will not charge you to take surveys. Because your opinion is valuable to companies and brands, survey companies will pay you for it. So, never pay a fee or a subscription to join a site even if it claims to be legit.
If there’s an app that asks you to pay to join, it’s likely to be a scam! And an app to avoid!
Don’t provide your credit card or banking details
Another red flag is if a site asks you for credit card details or a bank account number. A legit site would not ask for bank details in a survey. So, make sure that you don’t share your card or bank account details.
Do not share your social security number
Another thing that you should not share online includes your social security number or your driver’s license number. Again, legit sites don’t ask for sensitive or personal data like that. So this is another red flag and if a site asks for this, it’s likely a scam. Just be careful with what you share as you don’t want to get scammed.
Be careful with what you share in general
Okay, so when doing surveys, it’s important to decide how much information you are comfortable with sharing. Answering questions on things like your favorite restaurants or movies you’ve seen recently is fine, but, on the other hand, providing things like your medical information may not the worth the risk.
So, make sure that you take the time to consider what you share on a survey. If you do get a survey that asks for private information that you’re cautious about sharing, then consider stopping that survey and doing another one instead. It’s up to you how much you share.
Paid Survey Q&As
Okay, so we’ve covered a lot about surveys already and have given you some pretty awesome apps for making money right from your phone. And, who doesn’t want to do that, right?
Well, in this section, I want to cover some Q&As about surveys. In this section, I’ll answer some common questions that I see people asking. Hopefully, this section helps you to understand a little more about how paid surveys work and what apps are the best for you!
Can you really make money taking surveys?
I see this question asked a lot when it comes to surveys. You might think, can you actually get paid for surveys online?
Well, yes you can. I’ve listed 40 apps above that pay you just for providing your opinion.
Why though, you ask?
Well, your opinion has value. A lot of value in fact. Companies and brands in multiple industries want more insight into their customers. They use feedback from people, like you, to create and develop new products. And, for providing such valuable feedback, these companies are willing to pay you. Basically, it’s a win-win!
Can you make a living through paid survey apps alone? Not likely. Since most sites don’t pay a ton per survey, this isn’t something that you can turn into a fulltime gig.
But, they are a good way to supplement your income or when you need to make some extra money fast. And, they can be done from your smartphone from anywhere at any time.
If you do want a more sustainable way to make money, then check out our big list of gig economy jobs that you can use to supplement your income.
What survey apps pay cash?
Each survey app has its own payment options. Many pay with just gift cards. This is good if you want some extra money to spend at stores like Amazon, Walmart, or Target. But, if you want real cash, then gift cards are not ideal.
Thankfully, there are also a lot of survey apps that pay real cash. This is generally through PayPal, bank transfer, or check with PayPal being the most common option.
Here are some survey apps that pay cash:
- Happy Survey
- Surveys On The Go
- Survey Junkie
There are tons more on the list above, so do check those out!
What survey apps pay the most?
Like I said earlier, most survey sites don’t pay you a ton of money. With some offering less than $0.50 per survey.
Here are some higher paying apps where you can earn a few dollars rather than a few cents:
- Survey Junkie: Up to $3 per survey.
- Opinion Outpost: Up to $5 per survey
- Pinecone Research: $3 per survey
- Media Rewards: Up to $10 per survey
- Darwin’s Data: $25 per survey
Now, I’ve included Darwin’s Data on the list because it is one of the higher paying survey sites out there. But it doesn’t actually have an app which is why it didn’t make our main list of survey apps above. Do give it a try though. You will need to request an invite to the site in order to be able to take surveys there.
What survey apps pay instantly?
What if you’re looking to get paid fast? Not many apps are going to pay you instantly. But, many will pay you fast. There are apps that will pay you in less than 3 days. Some will pay you within hours or even minutes.
Here are some apps where you can get paid fast:
- Qmee – Within minutes
- 1Q – Within minutes
- Swagbucks – When you have just $1 to $5 in your account
- Rewardr – Within 6 hours to 72 hours
These apps have low payment thresholds and allow you to withdraw your earnings quickly.
How much do survey sites pay?
Pay varies from app to app and from survey to survey too. Earnings can also depend on the length of the survey.
There are those rate surveys that pay $50 or even $100s. But this is certainly not the norm. Most of the time, you will earn $0.25 to $5 per survey with some sites paying up to $25.
Here are some examples:
- Survey Junkie: $1 to $3 per survey.
- Ipsos i-Say: $0.10 to $1 per survey.
- Opinion Outpost: $0.05 to $5 per survey
- Pinecone Research: $3 per survey
- Swagbucks: $0.40 to $2 per survey with the occasional survey offering as much as $50.
What types of paid online surveys can I take?
There are lots of different kinds of surveys offered by survey apps. These can include things like:
- Advertising effectiveness surveys
- Brand recognition surveys
- Product appeal surveys
- Surveys about services
So, there are lots of different survey types available. Also, these apps offer surveys of varying lengths so this means that if you are busy you can opt for a short survey and if you have more time, you could potentially earn more money by doing a lengthier survey.
Get Paid for Your Opinion!
These paid survey apps are great if you’re looking for a way to make some extra money from your phone. Are surveys going to make you rich? No, but that’s not really what they are designed for. The money that you make from surveys isn’t, likely, going to be enough to give you a fulltime income.
Instead, surveys are better for those who want to just make some extra cash. Like I said earlier, surveys are good because really anyone can make money from them. Give these apps a try and watch out for scams!
Do you have any paid survey apps you’d recommend? If so, let us know about it in the comments section below.
This site is good enough for those who want to earn extra cash during their free time, and not only free time but also full time you can still earn cash, and especially this corona pandemic time
valued opinions is rubbish. Used to be good but not anymore. 95% screen outs.
Life points is the best one here.
Ipsos are good but not many surveys
swagbucks pay a pittance.
I was able to earn a decent amount with swagbucks WHEN I qualified for surveys. I was able to do a few studies that resulted in a $40 amazon gift card, that happened once. Then I was not qualified for any over time, as well as getting part ways through a survey only to have it say I didn’t qualify. It got to be a waste of time.
Yeah, it sucks when you don’t qualify for surveys, Melissa. One thing you can do is join a few other survey and rewards sites like Swagbucks. That way you increase your chances of getting and qualifying for more surveys. I am glad you were able to earn $0 Amazon gift card.
