The answer for how much it costs to make copies is – it varies!
Each place charges its own rate, and the amount you’ll end up paying will also depend on factors, like whether you need the copies to be in black and white or color, how many copies you need, and what size you need the copies to be.
So, it’s hard to give an exact figure.
Here’s a rough estimate though of what you can expect to pay to get copies made:
- Black and white copies (2¢ to 25¢): These are cheaper than color copies, and cost anywhere from a 2¢ cents to 25¢ cents per page.
- Color copies (30¢ to 75¢): These tend to be more expensive, costing from 30¢ cents to 75¢ cents per page.
Of course, those are just rough figures, so do enquire at your local store, or whatever location it is, to ask for specific prices.

Also, if you need additional things, such as the documents laminating, folding or binding, then it will cost more money.

1. Ask Friends or Family
If you have a friend or a family member with a copier, then consider asking them if you can use it to make copies. Out of courtesy, bring your own paper if you plan to make a lot of copies.
2. At Work (Just ask your boss first)
You might be able to use the copy machine at work if there is one. Of course, you need to check with your boss first. But, if you’re only making a few copies, then it’s likely that they won’t mind.
3. Your Apartment Complex
If you live in an apartment complex, then there may be a small business center in the leasing office that includes a copy machine. You may be able to use this copy machine to make copies for free.
4. At a Hotel

A lot of people online ask, “can I make copies at Walmart?”
And the answer is no.
Lots of other places do though, so check them out:
FedEx, once known as Kinko’s, offers copy and print services. You can copy and print, and you can also print digital documents and documents from the cloud.
Plus, if you need to mail those documents that you make copies of, then you can do so with its FedEx shipping option. Also, you can also order copies online and pick them up at your local FedEx store or get them sent to your home.
So, it’s definitely one of the most convenient options on this list.

7. The UPS Store
The UPS Store allows you to make black and white and color copies.
There are more than 4,400 locations in the United States! So if you’re looking for copy services near you, then you’re sure to be able to find one of its stores near you.
You can go in-store to make black and white copies.
Also, you can order your copies online and get them delivered to you or pick them up at your local store.
You just need to upload the document that you need copies of into the online document builder, and then select from the drop down options to choose things like how many copies you would like.

9. Your local library
Next on our list is your local library. Local libraries aren’t just places to get free books. Some libraries feature copy machines and will allow you to make black and white copies for a small fee.
This fee varies from place to place, so be sure to check with your library to see how much it costs to use their copier if they have one. Just do a quick Internet search to find your nearest library – entering your town’s name followed by the term “library,” will yield plenty of results.

Costco is a great store to save money on everything, including copies.
Some Costco locations, including Costco Wholesale and Costco Business Center, offer copier services, but not all of them do. So, it’s best to call your local store to find out if this service is available and how much it costs.
You can get color copies for as low as 15 cents and black and white copies for as low as 2.5 cents.
Alternatively, you can order copies online, and have them delivered to your local Costco Warehouse. So if you have a digital document that you need to make copies of, then this is a good option.

14. Sam’s Club
Some Sam’s club locations offer copying services.
Through Sam’s Club Business Printing, you can get a range of items printed, such as brochures, flyers and postcards. Prices vary, depending on the type of document you need copies of, and whether you need color or black and white copies.

16. CVS Pharmacy
Prescriptions and health and beauty supplies aren’t the only things you can get at your local CVS store.
CVS Pharmacy provides copy and print services at more than 3,400 locations. You can copy and print documents or digital files at KODAK Picture Kiosks at CVS.
You can also make copies of digital documents from USB devices, which is super convenient.
You can get both black and white copies made.
Here’s how much it costs to make copies at CVS pharmacies:

If you plan to make a lot of copies and don’t want to have to keep paying out or have the hassle of driving somewhere to print them, then you might want to consider purchasing your own copier.
Buying a used copier is usually the cheapest option. Check out platforms like Craigslist, Offer Up and eBay.
Of course, there’s the upfront cost of buying the copier, but once that’s out of the way, it’s a more convenient and often cheaper way to make copies, even when you factor in the price of buying paper and ink for printing.

The thing is, there are a lot of places that offer copy services near you, but most are small mom and pop kind of shops that aren’t well-known national chains.
For example, close to my house, there is a graphics shop that I used to get copies of MoneyPantry flyers to distribute in our local area.

Color Copies Today is a good choice if you need to make a lot of copies.
It’s a website that allows you to order black and white or color copies.
But, there’s a minimum order amount for most copies.
So for example, for black and white copies, you’ll need to order a minimum of 500 copies, and for color copies, you’ll need to order at least 150.
The cost of this is as follows:
- 500 single sided black and white copies (60 lb. paper): $20
- 150 single sided color copies (60 lb. paper): $15
So that works out at about $0.04 a page for black and white copies and $0.10 a page for color copies.
