If you are thinking about getting keys made near you, the question of “Does Walmart make keys?” may not even cross your mind.
But with over 4,743 Walmart stores in the U.S., there is probably one near you and it sure would be convenient to make copies of your keys while doing your regular Walmart shopping.
Many of us head to our local Walmart not only to do our shopping but also for the plethora of other convenient services the store has to offer.
At Walmart, you can cash money orders, buy money orders, cash checks, turn coins into bills at the Coinstar machines found in-store, and much more. You might be wondering if you can also get keys made at your local Walmart.
Getting keys copied is so important. When you have a copy, losing or breaking a key isn’t a big deal. You just grab the spare right?
Losing a key when you don’t have a copy is a different story. While getting keys copied is pretty cheap, getting new keys made when you don’t have access to the original keys can be expensive. You have to call a locksmith, who will charge you much more to make a new set than you would pay simply to have a spare copy made of the original.

That’s why the smart thing to do is have a spare set of keys ready. I recently made copies of the back door key for our house, and it didn’t cost me a lot of money.
As a consumer, saving money where you can is so important, which is why I would highly recommend getting keys copied.

So, when can you get keys made at Walmart? Minute Key self-service kiosks operate around the clock, which means that you can make keys at Walmart as long as the store is open.
This means that when your local store is closed, you won’t be able to get keys cut. Thankfully, many Walmart stores are open for pretty long periods, like 6 am to 11 pm, which means you can get keys cut late at night. Many stores are open 24-hours, so you can get keys cut anytime if you live near a 24/7 Walmart.
Check what time your local Walmart store is open and then you’ll know which times you can get keys made.

How Much Does it Cost to Make Keys at Walmart?
We want to get the best deal on everything we can, whether that’s our groceries or our car insurance.
The same goes for getting keys cut, right?
You want to know whether you are getting the best value for your money, which means you’re probably wondering how much it costs to have keys cut at Walmart.
Walmart key copying prices range from $2 to $6 per key. The price depends on the type of key and the design that you choose.
You will need cash, a credit card, or a debit card to pay for the key.
Most popular credit/debit cards are accepted, such as Visa, MasterCard, and American Express cards.
You can also pay with cash if you want to, but as I said earlier, Minute Key kiosks do not currently offer change. This means that you will need to have the exact amount in cash to cover the cost of the key. If you do put more cash into the machine than the price listed, you will lose out on that change.
What’s good about Minute Key is that it offers a 100% customer satisfaction guarantee, which means that if your key doesn’t work, or if you are unhappy with your purchase, you can simply fill out the company’s customer service form within 30 days of purchase to request a refund.
What Walmart’s have Minute Key Kiosks?
Walmart provides key copying services in the majority of its stores through Minute Key kiosks. These kiosks are pretty hard to miss. Look out for a bright green kiosk, usually in the front of the store.
Of course, not all Walmart store locations have a Minute Key kiosk. You don’t want to waste your time heading out to your nearby store, only to find that it doesn’t actually offer key cutting. This is a waste of not only your time but money on gas!
You can save yourself time and money by searching online for a Walmart Minute Key kiosk near you.
There are two options for doing so.
Option One: Use the Minute Key kiosk locator
Save yourself the time and money by simply using the Minute Key kiosk locator tool to find a nearby Walmart that has a Minute Key kiosk.
You can enter your location into the search bar to find Minute Key kiosks. The only issue with this option is that it will find kiosks in lots of different stores like Lowe’s and Home Depot. So, if it’s Walmart specifically you’re looking for, you might have better luck with the next option.
Option Two: Use Google
I found that it was easier to get a list of Walmart stores near me that offered key cutting services using Google, rather than the Minute Key locator tool.
I simply opened up Google and entered the term “Walmart Minute Key kiosks” into Google, and I got a list of stores near me.
What other places make keys near me?
Walmart isn’t the only store where you can get keys made. If there isn’t a store near you or your local store doesn’t have a Minute Key self-service kiosk, you can try Kmart, Kroger, Menards, Lowe’s, and Home Depot.
Some places have self-service kiosks and others have trained staff and in-house key services. It’s good to know that there are quite a few places where you can have keys made.
Having spare keys can save you the time and money of having to call a locksmith if you lose a key. You won’t be locked out of your home or office, and you’ll be able to just pick up the spare, rather than having to pay a locksmith.
Thankfully, Walmart does make keys. So, you can make duplicates of many types of keys there. Check to see if your local store offers this service.
