Now, I’ll level with you here, most banks are not open on a Sunday.
There are only a few that actually do open up on a Sunday, and even then it’s often for limited hours and not at all branches.
In this post, I’ll list 5 banks that are open on a Sunday.
I’ll also cover some other ways to bank on a Sunday that don’t involve heading to a bank branch.

Why aren’t Banks Open on a Sunday?
There are many reasons why banks aren’t open on Sundays. One of the main reasons is that the financial system, including the stock market and the Federal Reserve’s settlement system for processing ACH payments, is closed for business on the weekends.
Banks may also want to give their employees a day off.
So, many banks choose to close on Sundays. That’s unfortunate because many people find it convenient to visit a bank branch on the weekend because they’re off work.

Some banks do open up on Sundays. This is usually for limited hours and normally only at select locations. That’s why it’s important to call your particular branch to make sure that it is indeed open on a Sunday.
Here are the top banks that are open on Sundays.

1. TD Bank
First on the list we have TD Bank. TD Bank is an American national bank. It offers things like online banking, loans, credit cards, and home lending, and a variety of other financial products.
It has more than 1,100 stores and 2,600 ATMs.
You’ll find the bank’s branches in the following states:
- Connecticut
- Delaware
- Florida
- Maine
- Maryland
- Massachusetts
- New Hampshire
- New Jersey
- New York
- North Carolina
- Pennsylvania
- Rhode Island
- South Carolina
- Vermont
- Virginia
- Washington DC
Some TD Bank branches are open on Sundays. For example, the TD Bank branch at 155 Canal Street in Chinatown in New York City is open on Sundays from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Of course, not all branches are open on Sunday, so be sure to check with your particular branch for its opening hours before you head down there.

2. American Savings Bank Hawaii
Next on the list we have American Savings Bank Hawaii. It offers a variety of consumer and business banking services, such as checking, savings, CDs, mortgages, credit cards, loans and lines, and online banking.
It is one of Hawaii’s largest financial institutions that’s headquartered in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The bank’s branches are open from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Sundays. So, it’s a great option if you’re looking for a bank that is open on Sunday.

3. Apple Bank
Apple Bank is a bank that operates in the New York metropolitan area. It offers consumer deposit accounts, including free checking and high-yield savings, personal loans, and business banking accounts.
It’s important to note that most Apple Bank branches are not open on a Sunday. However, it does have a location at 4519 13th Avenue in Brooklyn that is open on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. You may have a branch near you that’s open on Sunday.

Valley Bank is a regional bank holding company that’s headquartered in Morristown, New Jersey. It offers online and mobile banking, mortgages, and business, commercial and personal bank services.
It has branch locations and commercial banking offices across New Jersey, New York, Florida, Alabama, California, and Illinois.
Some Valley Bank branches are open on Sundays. One example is the Park branch in Passaic, New Jersey, which is open on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Not all Valley Bank branches are open on Sunday, so it’s best to check with local branches to confirm their opening times.

Veridian Credit Union has branches in Iowa and Nebraska. Some of the Veridian Credit Union branches that are located within grocery stores are open on Sundays.
For example, the Veridian Credit Union branch at the Des Moines Park Avenue Hy-Vee is open on Sundays from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Check with your local Veridian Credit Union to see if it’s open on Sunday.

Other Ways to Bank on Sundays
As you can see, not that many banks are open on a Sunday. And, even the banks that do open on a Sunday are often only open for a limited number of hours, and others are only open on Sundays at a limited number of locations.
This means that you may not have a bank near you that’s open on a Sunday, or the bank might not be open at the right times for you.
Thankfully, there are still ways to do banking transactions, such as depositing a check or cashing a money order without having to actually head into a bank branch.
Here are some other ways to bank on Sundays.
6. ATMs
ATMs are the perfect alternative to a bank branch for anyone who needs to do some financial transactions on a Sunday.
You can find check cashing machines and ATMs on most street corners, and you can use them 24/7.
Here are some of the tasks that you can do at ATMS:

Basically, ATMs give you access to a plethora of financial services and allow you to perform self-service transactions. This is ideal if you can’t find a bank branch that is open on Sunday.

Next on the list we have Kroger. Kroger has 1,270 stores across the United States, so it’s likely that you have a store near you.
Now Kroger has a Money Services Center in all of its stores where you can get a variety of financial services.
This incudes thigs like:
- Money orders
- Bill payments
- Check cashing
- Money transfers
- Prepaid cards
These Money Services Centers are open on Sundays at many stores. So, check to see if your local Kroger store has a Money Services Center that’s open on Sundays.
8. Walmart
Walmart has 4,623 stores in the United States, so most people have a store that’s nearby where they can get access to a plethora of financial services.
Walmart stores feature a Money Center where you can get access to financial transactions.
This includes:
- Money transfers
- Check cashing
- Check printing
- Money orders
- Tax prep services
Walmart Money Centers are typically open on Sundays. So, you can get access to the financial services that you need, even at the weekend.
9. Your bank’s mobile app
Many banks have mobile apps that you can use to complete some financial transactions.
This can include things like:
- Monitoring your credit score
- Depositing checks
- Transferring money
- Paying bills
So, you can use the app during times when you can’t head to an actual branch.

Some banks have select branches that are open on a Sunday.
Unfortunately, there aren’t that many banks that actually open up on a Sunday. That’s why I’ve also included other ways to bank on Sundays, such as using ATMs, going to Kroger Money Services, visiting a Money Center at your local Walmart, or using your bank’s mobile app.
There are a few banks open on Sunday though, even if it is for limited hours, so check local branches of the banks and credit unions that I mentioned on the list above to see if any are open on Sunday.
