I’ve spent a lot of time testing out different side hustles and money-making apps. I decided to write this Surveys on the Go review because it’s getting popular and I wanted to see what the buzz is all about.
If you’re like me, usually when you see an paid survey apps like Surveys on the Go promising extra cash, your first thought is, “Is Survey On The Go legit or just a waste of my time?“.
So I downloaded the app and used it myself for a few weeks to get the real story.
In this review, I’ll share my honest experience, how it works, the different types of surveys I found, what I actually earned, and whether I think it’s right for you.

What Is Surveys on the Go?
Before I even downloaded it, I did a little digging.
The first thing I confirmed is that Surveys on the Go is a legitimate mobile app from a U.S. market research company called MFour Mobile Research.

They’ve been around since 2011, and that alone is a good sign!
Why?
Because usually scam survey sites and apps don’t last long. They set things up to make quick cash by scamming people, then disappear overnight.
So being around for over a decade is a huge sign of legitimacy for Survey On The Go.
How Does It Actually Work?
Getting Started Was Simple
I found the setup process to be super easy.
I just downloaded the app from Google Play (it’s also available on the Apple App store) , created a profile with my basic demographic info and then I was ready for surveys.
I immediately got the first survey (which I think they send to everyone as soon as you sign up) named “About Me” which as you guessed, is basically having you complete your profile so they can match you up with relevant surveys. It paid $.25 and took less than a minute to complete.

After that, I just waited for the app to notify me when other surveys were available.
Types of Surveys
Most survey apps and websites have surveys about different topics and sectors.
Advertisements
So I wasn’t surprised to find a few different kinds of surveys.
Most were quick, opinion-based ones. Some of them were almost like those survey questionnaires with yes or no answers.
As for pay, as usual, some paid a lot, some paid a little. And yes, the longer a survey was, the bigger its payout was.
Now, here’s the kind of surveys I came across on Survey On Th Go app:
General Surveys
These are the most common. They usually cover topics from brand opinions to your habits of using the internet, phone, TV, etc.
They usually pay between $0.50 and $1.50 and take 5-10 minutes.
Location-Based Surveys
These were the best earners!
The app uses your location (if you allow it, which you can do via your phone’s settings) to ask about your experience after visiting a specific store.
I got one after a trip to a local grocery store that paid $3. These are almost like Mystery Shopper type surveys you get after completing a mystery shopping assignment.
Diary Surveys
I haven’t seen this type of survey on many survey platforms, but SOTG has some.
They basically ask you to track something over a few days (like what you watched on TV, what songs you listened to, etc).
These kinds of surveys take a bit more time but they also pay more which is usually $5 and more.
Product Testing
If you read MoneyPantry, you know I love product testing and I am always looking for new product testing opportunities.
Now with Survey On The Go, I didn’t personally get one, but the app does offer opportunities to have products sent to your home to test.
These are rare but are often the highest-paying gigs.
How Much Money I Actually Made
Let’s get to the part you’re probably most curious about: the money.
I know I have said this over and over on MoneyPantry, but it’s worth repeating because I want you to go in with realistic expectations. Taking paid surveys for money, be it with Survey On The Go or any other real and trusted survey company isn’t gonna replace your job. But it’s an excellent way of making a little extra pocket money on the side.
Now, for me personally, making money with Survey On The Go was a slow but steady process.
A dollar here, fifty cents there, it started adding up.
I remember feeling a little impatient at first, but then I got that $3 location-based survey, which was a nice boost.
In total, it took me about a few weeks to hit the $10 cash-out minimum.
Was it a lot?
No. But it was a nice little bonus for doing almost nothing.
How Does Survey on the Go Pay?
Ok, this is the most important for a lot of us. How do they pay and how fast do you get your money?
One of my biggest pet peeves with survey apps and sites in general is that they have complicated payment systems. And it takes days, sometimes even weeks to actually get your reward.
Thankfully, that is not the case with SOTG.
Minimum Payout: You need to reach a $10 minimum before you can cash out.
Payment Methods
- PayPal
- Amazon
- Venmo
- Visa
- Starbucks
How fast you get paid
Most payments are usually sent instantly. My PayPal payment hit my account in a few minutes.
Pros and Cons of Survey On The Go
Based on my own experience, here’s my honest take on the positive and negative things about SOTG.
The Good Stuff (Pros) | The Not-So-Good Stuff (Cons) |
---|---|
✅ It’s 100% legit: I can personally confirm I got paid real cash. | ❌Earning is slow: It took me a few weeks to earn $10. Patience is essential. |
✅ Easy to use: The app’s design is clean and simple. I was never confused. | ❌Disqualifications: Answering 5-10 questions only to be told you don’t qualify is a real bummer. |
✅ Real cash: My payout went straight to PayPal, which I prefer over gift cards. | ❌ Not many surveys: Some weeks I got several notifications; other weeks, it was crickets. |
✅ Fair minimum cash out: The $10 minimum felt achievable, unlike apps that make you earn $25 or more. |
Is Surveys on the Go Safe and Trustworthy?
Yes. The (parent) company has been operating for over a decade and has a clear privacy policy.
They use your demographic data to match you with relevant surveys, but they don’t sell your personal information like your name or email to third-party advertisers which is always a plus. If you are a privacy minded person like me, you’ll appreciate that.
Overall, my experience felt secure, and I didn’t have any issues.

Comparison to Alternative Survey Apps
So how does Survey On The Go compare to the big survey apps we all know? I am talking about platforms like Swagbucks, InboxDollars, Pinecone Research and all the other big names in the market research industry.
Well, as far as being user friendly and easy to use, Surveys on the Go stands out. It has a really nice, clean interface and the app is perfectly optimized for mobile users (you’d be surprised how many apps, even big brand apps, are not even mobile optimized despite literally being a “mobile” app!)
Now, as for surveys and pay, it doesn’t have as many surveys or ways to earn compared to say Swagbucks or PineCone, but it does have more location based surveys that can pay $1 to $5 each.
Here’s a quick comparison:
App | Payment Type | Min. Cashout | Typical Survey Earnings | Best For… |
---|---|---|---|---|
Surveys on the Go | PayPal, Venmo, Gift Cards | $10 | $0.50 to $3 per survey | Mobile users who like simple, location-based surveys. |
PayPal, Gift Cards | $1–$5 | $0.05 to $2 per task | Users who want many ways to earn (games, videos, shopping). | |
PayPal, Bank Transfer, Gift Cards | $5 | $0.50 to $3 per survey | Users who want a simple, survey-focused app with fast payouts. | |
PayPal, Check, Gift Cards | $15 (first time) | $0.25 to $5 per task | Earning cash (not points) for a variety of tasks, including reading emails. | |
Bank Transfer, Prepaid Visa, Products | $3–$10 (Varies for new members) | $1 to $3 per survey (often a flat $3) | High-quality, reliable surveys (though infrequent and invite-only). |
If you’re looking for short, high-paying surveys without distractions, Surveys on the Go might be your best bet.
But if you want more earning options like watching videos or playing games, apps like Swagbucks may suit you better.

Final Verdict: Is Surveys on the Go Legit?
Yes, Survey On The Go is legit and that’s based on my own personal experience.
It’s a real platform that pays you for doing surveys.
The “catch,” if you can call it that, isn’t a scam; it’s just that the earning potential is not huge. So you have to be realistic.
As I said, this is a great app to make some extra cash in your spare time. You’ll make enough to maybe pay your internet bill, but not enough to pay your monthly mortgage!
So at the end of the day, if you go in with the right expectations, my personal Surveys on the Go review is that it’s a legit and safe app that’s worth a download.
