The very first time I received a free shampoo sample in the mail was a few years ago.
I was very excited that this was actually legit and companies did send out free stuff.
Since then, I have gotten so many shampoo and conditioner samples, along with a host of other health and beauty related freebies, that I lost count. But the excitement of getting something for free (things that you actually use) is always there.
The good news is that there are many brands and websites that offer free shampoo samples. Sure, these aren’t generally full-size products, but samples are free and they give you a chance to test out new products.
Below, we’ve gathered a list of ways that you can get your hands on some free shampoo. Whether it’s Garnier or Dove shampoo samples that you’re after, you’re sure to find them using the methods below.

8. Follow Brands on Social Media
Did you know that social media is a great place to find free shampoo samples? Really!
Many brands post coupons, discount codes, and free product giveaways through their social media accounts.
Here are a few examples:
So, if you want to get your hands on some free stuff, and get access to other exclusive deals, like free shampoo and conditioner coupons for example, then check out your favorite brands on social media.
9. Contact companies directly
A really great, but often overlooked way to get free shampoo samples is to contact companies directly. You can do this via traditional mail or email.
Get the addresses of the brands you want to contact, and then write a letter or an email to them.
Make sure that each letter you send is tailored to that particular brand. Generic, copy and paste letters and emails don’t tend to get results.
Tell the brand that you love their products and you’re wondering if they have any free samples available, as you’d like to try more of them.
If you want free shampoo samples by mail with no surveys involved, then contacting companies directly is a great option. Tons of companies will send free stuff by mail if you just ask them to.
10. Use product review/sample programs
Companies giveaway products all the time for the purpose of product testing. Some brands use third party companies to do it for them, others, like L’Oréal, have their own consumer testing panels.
Product testing allows companies to send you (the consumer) product(s) for free in exchange for your feedback. They then use the feedback to improve or develop new products. That’s the whole idea behind the market research industry.
Now, you don’t always just get shampoo samples. They give away all kinds of sample packs. For example, if you read my review of PinchMe, you’ll see that they sent me anything from healing cream and body wash to sweeteners and mouthwash.
But, if you just want health and beauty related products, you can join a few beauty product testing panels which are focused on beauty products.
Here are a few:
11. Join online survey sites
Sure you can make money with online surveys, but how do you get free shampoo samples from them?
Well, market research companies conduct surveys to help manufacturers and companies improve their products and/or develop new ones by gathering opinions and feedback from everyday consumers. Usually, this is done via online surveys where panelists answer questions related to the product.
However, sometimes, to get results that mimic the real world results, survey companies send panelists actual products to try. Now, this doesn’t happen very often with survey sites, but it does.
I remember getting 2 full bottles (1 shampoo and 1 conditioner) some years back via MySurvey. I had to use them for 2 weeks, then I had to answer some questions about the products and what I liked and disliked about ’em.
Not only I got to use and keep the rest of the product, but I was also compensated for my time, as is the norm with any legit survey site.
Unfortunately, there aren’t many survey sites that send out free products for you to use and give feedback. But based on my personal experience, two of the best include:
Here they are:
Again, don’t expect to get free shampoo (or any other product) every week/month. This happens very rarely. Your goal here should be earning some extra cash with their paid surveys, and if you get a free product to use, then great.
Bottom Line
Using samples and freebies is a great way to save a bit of cash and give yourself the chance to try out new products that you might choose to purchase in the future.
And as you can see, there are plenty of ways that you can get free shampoo and conditioner samples. You just need to take the time to try a few different things and put the effort in.

At this time, Sat. Nov. 21, 2020, appx. 3:am, 95% of these links are broken. The links that do work link to pages stating that samples are no longer offered. I hit every link here and am about to leave the page not finding one sample.
I’m only letting you know so that you can update this page. I’m not angry or anything. This isn’t one of ‘those’ comments :)
I love the site ♥ Thank you for all the work that you do for us!!
