Legit Transcriptionist Jobs

Can you type quickly and accurately?
If so, then you should consider working as a transcriptionist/transcriber.
All you have to do is listen to audio and then type what you hear.
Then, you’ll hand over the transcript and you’ll get paid.
Transcription work is ideal if you’re not too experienced working from home, and don’t know where to start.

SpeakWrite is a transcriptionist company that works with legal, government, law enforcement, and other private sector clients. You can earn anywhere from $300 to $3,000 a month. But, the average pay is .005¢- .006¢ per word transcribed.
With TranscribeMe you get paid to transcribe segments of files for clients. It pays $20 an hour.
9. Verbal Ink
Verbal Ink is a company that provides clients with fast turnaround transcripts. So, you’ll need to complete transcripts on the same day or during the next day. You’ll need experience of Microsoft word and email.
Birch Creek Communications works with corporate clients. You can take on as much work as you want to. You get paid $0.40 to $1.75 per audio minute
With Quicktate, you can earn money transcribing phone call recordings, memos, medical files conference calls and other audio files.
You get paid 1 cent for every four words you transcribe – this is ¼ cent per word.

Alice Darling Secretarial Services offers audio and video transcription services. And, sometimes it hires at home workers to complete these projects. You’ll need to have a typing speed of 75 wpm.
Work with Terescription as an independent contractor. You can transcribe content from a range of fields, like entertainment, legal, business and education.
With Athreon, you can find work as a medical or legal transcriptionist.
You can work with Ubiqus as a freelance transcriptionist. You transcribe audio of varying lengths and types. You’ll need to format transcripts according to project specs.
This is another job that you’ll need experience for – you’ll need one to five years of relevant experience.
Scribe has home-based positions available. It’s your job to transcribe files that are 6 minutes or less. You’ll earn $5 to $20 per audio hour.
Transcribe content for the film and television industry with BAM!

Another tutoring company that offers at-home jobs is Homework Tutoring. The company is looking for online tutors to teach a variety of topics.
Homework Tutoring offers jobs to people looking to teach engineering, history, and law. But, you can also suggest a subject if there’s a topic that you want to teach.
TutaPoint.com offers one-on-one tutoring services in high school level courses. Students can ask for instant homework help or they can schedule a tutoring session. And, it hires certified teachers, retired teachers, teaching assistants, professors at colleges and universities, and others who meet the site’s standards to teach these courses.
Smarthinking hires part-time, online tutors. If you have advanced coursework, a graduate degree in one of the site’s subjects, and college-level teaching or tutoring experience, then you could apply to be one of the site’s tutors. The company also offers tutor certification to all qualified applicants.

37. EF English Live
Formerly English Town, EF English Live offers online language classes to students. You have to work a minimum of 15 hours per week – so it’s not quite as flexible as some of the others on this list. You’ll also need a TEFL certificate or an equivalent ESL qualification.
Italki is a company that teaches languages to more than 3 million students. Create a profile on there, set your own price for classes, and then students can hire you. You’ll teach one-on-one.
At iTutorGroup you can find English teaching jobs. The company operates several education platforms, like TutorABC and tutorJr.
If you want to teach with ITutorGroup, you’ll need a TESOL/TEFL Certification. Plus, at least a year of teaching experience and a bachelor’s degree are also required.
40. Open English
Open English hires ESL and TESOL professionals. So, if you’re looking for work as an English teacher, this is a great option. You can teach classes when you want, as the site operates 24 hours a day – so this is a really flexible position.
EnglishKey provides part-time positions to English language teachers. However, after working with the company for three to six months, you could get a full-time job. How much you earn is negotiable, and is based on your experience.

- Boost Media – Pay varies
- BKA Content – Pay for new writers is $8 to $14 an hour. After training, writers can average $12 to $18 an hour. Currently hiring writers to get paid from 1.3 to 5 cents per word.
- Writers Domain – Pay is from $0.02 to $0.05 per word.
- Writers Access – Pay ranges from $0.014 to $0.07 per word.
65. Write for Blogs and Websites that Pay
Content websites are great for getting a weekly paycheck, but they don’t pay too well. That’s why you should consider submitting articles to websites and blogs that pay for submissions. Sometimes, you can get paid $100 an article or more!

If you really want to make a good living from writing, then you’ll want to branch out into working with private clients.
Submitting articles to blogs and websites that pay is a good idea in terms of pay rate, but private clients can be good, as they often give you a steadier stream of work.
Unfortunately, there are still clients out there who pay very little – so always check what the pay rate is before you apply for a position.

Work at Home Editing/Proofreading Jobs for Housewives
- How much will you earn: Editors earn an average of $51,104.
If you’ve got an eye for typos, spelling errors and grammatical mistakes, then you could make money as an editor or proofreader. It’s important to note that while some companies use the terms proofreading and editing interchangeably, they are actually different things.
Proofreading is focused on catching errors, such as spelling mistakes, grammatical errors, and typos. Generally, proofreading is done near the end of the writing process.
On the other hand, editing is a little more complex, and can also involve analyzing the text’s structure and how it flows. So, editing includes the steps involved in proofreading, but the main focus of it is to make the content better organized and easier to understand.

Editor World provides manuscript editing services. It hires editors to work from home as independent contractors.
You’ll need to meet the following requirements to work with Editor World:
- Have at least a bachelor’s degree.
- Have editing experience.
- Be a native English speaker.

Once you’ve done that, you’ll need to complete the site’s 35-question editor test. You can use outside resources to complete the test, such as MLA, CSE, APA, and Chicago formatting guides.
ProofreadingPal is a website that provides proofreading and services. Editors earn between $500 and $3,000 a month.
Currently, the company is looking for applicants who meet one of the following criteria:
- You are currently employed by or enrolled as a graduate or postgraduate student at an accredited United States university. And, you have a minimum GPA of 3.5.
- Or, you have a graduate degree with a minimum of five years of professional proofreading and editing experience.
Those are the minimum criteria. If you meet the sites qualifications, then you’ll need to answer a short independent contractor questionnaire. A representative will contact you about your application and the next stage of the hiring process, within 5 to 10 business days. This includes completing a comprehensive, timed examination.
Scribendi has telecommuting positions available for editors/proofreaders. You can choose the types of assignments that you want to work on, and you’ll also receive free training. To work as one of the company’s editors, you’ll need a moderate level of computer and internet knowledge.
Other qualifications required include:
- A university degree in a relevant field.
- At least three years’ worth of experience in editing, writing, document production, or language teaching.
- Be able to speak English at a native level.
- Have an average editing/proofreading speed of 1,000–1,500 words per hour.

Search Engine Evaluation Jobs

Sure, websites like Bing and Google have complex algorithms in place that help to determine which sites show up in the search results when a person types in a particular keyword/phrase.

UsabilityHub pays you to test websites. The company runs short user tests and design surveys. So, you can participate in these tests, and you’ll get paid for each response that you provide.
You don’t need to have any professional skills to do this job. Pay is $0.10 per credit earned. For most tests, you’ll earn 1 credit per response, but some pay more. According to the website, each response takes around 1 minute – so you could earn $5 to $10 an hour taking tests.
When you get 100 credits, you’ll be able to request a payout. Payment is sent via PayPal.
Userlytics pays you to test out websites, apps and other digital content.
You’ll need to:
- Use a website/app as you normally would, but you’ll have to complete a series of tasks and questions.
- Then, speak your thoughts and emotions aloud, as you do so.
- And, answer a few questions.
You get paid via PayPal. Pay is $5, $10, $15, $20, depending on the user test project. But, some projects pay as much as $90.
With UserTesting, you need to visit a website or an app, complete a set of tasks, and speak your thoughts about the website/app aloud. You’ll be paid $10 per test.
Payment is sent via PayPal for every 20-minute video you complete.
Paid Expert Jobs

If you’re particularly knowledgeable about a topic, then you could get paid to provide your expert advice.
Basically, you get paid to answer questions.
Of course, you’ll need to be able to prove that you’re an expert in your chosen topic. This is an easy way to make cash. It’s not as steady an income as some of the other jobs on this list, but it can be profitable.

Maven will pay you to be one its consultants. Consultants offer knowledge to users online. Register and you can select your own hourly consulting rate. Then, just answer a few questions.
When Maven’s system finds a potential match for your experience, it will contact you.
Then, you can respond to written questions or talk on the phone. Also, you can earn money when someone you refer consults through Maven.
StudyPool pays you to help students with their homework. According to the website, you can earn up to $5k a month answering homework questions and assignments from home. There are more than 30 subjects to choose from. You can set your own price for answering questions, and your own deadlines too, so this is a flexible job.
Wonder is a website that pays you to provide answers to questions that people may have. You can work when you want to, so this is another flexible job. Just visit the dashboard to start working, and the website will assign you a request to work on.
Then, you find answers/sources. Then, you can submit your work and get paid. Once you’ve completed an application, you will need to complete a simple online quiz and trial assignment that shows your research skills. Then, you can start researching.
And, a bonus… Work at home as a survey participant
Giving your opinion could earn you a decent amount of money each week. This isn’t a job, per se, in that you don’t get paid a set amount each month. But, you can make a nice side income from it.
