Technically this isn’t a receipt scanning app, because it tracks your purchases automatically, thus skipping the receipt scanning step altogether.
The app will give you cash when you shop with a Visa credit card. Trim also has several other features for saving money:

All you need to do is link your card with the app. When you shop through the app, either online or paying in person with the app, your purchases will be watched. If the app finds something you bought at a cheaper price at a competitor, Walmart will give you credit for the difference.

Obviously, this app only works at Target. The app activates coupons for any item you purchase. All you have to do is show the cashier your shopping session barcode in the app and you will get your savings instantly applied to your receipt.
21. Grocery iQ: It is now a part of Coupons.com
- App available for: iOS – Android
This app technically doesn’t scan your receipts, but it does scan your shopping list to save you money. This app automatically downloads store coupons to your store loyalty card based off the shopping list you create in the app. It also lets your download manufacturer’s coupons.
22. Hopster: No longer available!
- Available on: any mobile device with online connection.
This isn’t technically an app, but the site does work through mobile devices.
It gives printable coupons that are redeemed in-person. You take a photo of your receipt and email it to the site. Hopster will give you 55 points for each coupon you used on that receipt.
You also get bonus points for following them on social media and watching videos.
Once your receipt is confirmed, you will immediately receive your cash reward on PayPal.
23. Cellfire
Where to get the app:
- Download coupons on the site as their BlackBerry app no longer works.
This is another app the technically doesn’t scan your receipt. This app lets you download coupons and upload them to your store loyalty card through the app. When checking out, have the cashier scan the barcode on the app and the savings will be automatically applied.
If you want to upload your own coupons, you can take a picture of the barcode and the app will convert it into a digital coupon that can be scanned.
24. CheckPoints

While this app doesn’t technically scan receipts, it does scan bar codes of products you bought from grocery and convenient stores. You earn points for:

25. Punchcard
Update: It seems like the app is not working for a lot of people. In some of the latest reviews, users complain about how the app doesn’t work or that they can scan receipts but the points stay at zero. So based on these latest reviews, I can’t recommend this app no longer.

Once you scan a receipt in this app, you spin a wheel to earn a points. This app is fairly new, but it still works many different retail locations, including local independent stores. Points can be exchanged for cash prizes and gift cards.
