With so many workout machines and equipments, Planet Fitness is a great choice for anyone who’s looking to get fit on a budget.

List of Planet Fitness Machines
Before we get to the list, let me just mention that PF also offers a lot of paid and free workout classes. So if you do end up becoming a member, be sure to take advantage of the free fitness classes.
Below, you’ll find a list of the workout machines you’ll typically find at Planet Fitness. Now, before we get started, it’s important to note that the machines on offer may differ between gyms. So, some locations might have different equipment than others.
If you are wondering if your local PF has a particular machine, then the best way to confirm this is to call up and ask. A member of staff will be able to let you know.
Here are the machines you’ll typically find at PF gyms ordered by category.
Planet Fitness Cardio Machines
Doing cardio, or aerobic exercise as it’s also known, strengthens your heart muscle, lowers your resting pulse, and improves your mood. And those are just a few of the benefits cardio has to offer. There are plenty of studies showing that even a simple 6-minute walk can have massive health benefits.
If you are looking for a great cardio workout, then Planet Fitness is a good option.
It offers a range of cardio machines, such as:
- ARC trainers
- Ellipticals
- Recumbent bikes
- Rowing machines
- Stair climbers
- Stationary bikes
- Treadmills
Planet Fitness Arm, Shoulder, and Chest Machines
If you want to work your arms, chest, and shoulders, PF has plenty of machines for that including:
- Bicep curl station
- Butterfly machine
- Cable biceps bar
- Cable triceps bar
- Chest press
- Incline press
- Lateral pull-down machine
- Shoulder press
Planet Fitness Leg Machines
People say that you shouldn’t skip leg day and it’s true.

According to Healthline, working out your legs has multiple benefits. Working your legs helps to produce hormones, such as cortisol, which helps your body respond to stress and increase fat metabolism, testosterone, which helps your body to repair damaged muscle proteins and build skeletal muscle, and human growth hormone (HGH), which promotes muscle growth, boosts immunity and boosts fat metabolism.
Leg workouts have plenty of other benefits too. For example, they can build muscle, burn calories and promote weight loss, and improve overall fitness.
Planet Fitness has plenty of leg machines, such as:
- Angled leg curl machine
- Leg extension machine
- Seated leg press
- Sled push machine
Stretching and Yoga Equipment
Stretching and yoga are important for the body. According to John Hopkins Medicine, yoga improves strength, balance, and flexibility. It’s also great for your mental health, as it helps with stress management and supports quality sleep.
Some locations also offer free yoga classes. That said, all Planet Fitness gyms usually have a room where you can find the equipment and amenities you need for stretching and yoga, such as:
- Floor mats
- Workout/balance balls
Full-body Workout Machines
If you are looking for a full-body workout, PF has some machines you can use, including:
- 30-minute Express Circuit room (you rotate between cardio stations and ten strength machines that work the whole body for 30 minutes)
- Synergy 360 machine
Weightlifting Equipment at Planet Fitness
According to Healthline, lifting weights makes you stronger, improves heart health, and boosts your metabolism. It has plenty of other benefits too!
Combine that with a good diet and a few good supplements and you have the recipe for becoming stronger, leaner, and healthier overall.
PF is not great if you are looking for things like bench presses or squat racks, or bars that are heavy enough to deadlift since most PF locations don’t offer those. So, if you are looking for that type of thing, then another gym would be a better fit.
Still though, PF does offer a selection of weightlifting equipment, including:
- Free weights, such as dumbbells and barbells
- Smith machines
Other Planet Fitness Amenities & Programs
Planet Fitness also offers a range of other programs and amenities in addition to the machines mentioned above.
This includes:
- Fitness training
- Hydromassage
- Lockers
- Massage chairs
- Showers (But, you have to bring your own towel)
- Small group training sessions
- Tanning
Please note that some of these services are only available if you have the PF Black Card membership. To learn more about the PF Black Card membership, make sure you check out the FAQs section below.
Planet Fitness FAQs
Above, I’ve covered the machines you’ll typically find at most Planet Fitness locations, as well as the other amenities, such as tanning and showers, that are available.
In this section, I just want to cover some common questions you may have about what types of facilities to expect at PF.
Does Planet Fitness have swimming pools?
No, Planet Fitness does not have swimming pools at any of its locations. Because it’s a budget gym, having an expensive pool inside to maintain probably doesn’t make sense for the brand. Make sure you check out my list of gyms with swimming pools if you do enjoy going for a swim.
Does Planet Fitness have basketball courts?
Planet Fitness doesn’t have a basketball court at any of its 2,000 gym locations. Again, it comes down to the fact that its gym membership is so cheap. By forgoing things like pools and basketball courts, which take up a lot of square footage, and maximizing the square footage of each facility with workout equipment and amenities that require smaller spaces, Planet Fitness can keep its gym membership prices affordable.
Does Planet Fitness have a Sauna?
No, PF does not have a sauna or a steam room at most locations because, again, the gym aims to maintain low membership prices. Hydromassage and tanning are available to Planet Fitness Black Card members though, which are good alternatives if you’re looking to relax.
How much does a personal trainer cost at Planet Fitness?
Personal trainers are free with your Planet Fitness membership. That’s pretty great, right? Planet Fitness’ certified fitness trainers will show you around the gym and provide instruction on its selection of cardio and strength machines.
The gym’s trainers can also design you an exercise program to help you meet your goals and get the most out of your workouts, and they facilitate a wide variety of small group training sessions as well.
Is the Planet Fitness PF Black Card worth it?
The standard PF membership costs just $10 a month, and with it, you get access to all of the cardio and strength equipment, and other benefits, such as free Wi-Fi, free fitness training, and access to any PF worldwide.
That’s pretty great, right? But, if you want additional features, you may consider the PF Black Card Membership.
Benefits of the PF Black Card Membership include:
- The ability to bring a guest anytime
- Use of tanning
- Use of Hydromassage
- Use of massage chairs
- Use of Total Body Enhancement
- 50% off select drinks
- 20% off at Reebok.com
Some of these benefits are only available at participating locations, so see your local club for details, and restrictions may apply on the 50% off select drinks offer.
Still though, there are a lot of extra bonuses that come along with the PF Black Card membership, but is it worth it?
If you plan to use the facilities like tanning and Hydromassage, or you want to bring your spouse or a friend along with you, then the membership can work out pretty well. It only costs around $24.99 a month (prices vary by club).
However, if you only want to use the cardio and strength machines, and you aren’t bothered about the extras, then the basic membership will suit you just fine, and it only costs around $10!
Closing Thoughts
There are plenty of Planet Fitness machines on offer, like treadmills, chest press, rowing machines, recumbent bikes, and seated leg press machines just to name a few. Whether you are looking for a good cardio workout, to work your arms, or to give your legs a great workout, Planet Fitness likely has a machine for you and it’s such an affordable gym!
Still not convinced? Wanna see and use their gym equipment before joining?
Good thing, PF offers free day passes. Take advantage of their free day pass so you can test out Planet Fitness machines before paying for a monthly membership!
