1. College health and wellness centers
Are you a student or perhaps an alumnus of a local university?
If so, then your local campus could be a way for you to attend some free yoga classes.
Some college health and wellness centers provide yoga classes for students, staff, and sometimes alumni. Check with your campus to see if any classes are being offered.
2. Look on Meetup
Meetup, if you don’t already know, is a website that is used to organize online groups and host in-person, and virtual events. The site, which has been around since 2012, features lists of free yoga classes around the world.
You can use the site to find local yoga classes that are free. Have a browse on there to find a class near you.
3. Health and fitness stores
Sometimes health and fitness stores will host some free classes. Most of these stores do this to bring in customers in the hopes that they will purchase something once the class is done. But there’s no obligation for you to purchase anything. Lululemon and PrAna, for example, have been known to host the occasional free class in the past.
Check with local stores to see if any are offering yoga classes for free.
Although you might not think of your local church when looking for a yoga class, it can actually be a good starting point. Some churches have yoga classes that locals can participate in and most of the time you don’t need to be a member of the church to take part.
Some churches may incorporate elements of Christianity into the practice of yoga. Others though simply allow instructors to use the place to host their classes. It can be a good idea to check with local churches to see what events or classes they provide.
5. Look on Eventbrite
A great resource for finding free yoga classes and events near you is Eventbrite.
If you haven’t heard of it before, Eventbrite is an event management and ticketing website. On there, you can browse local events, including free yoga classes!
It’s so worth having a browse on there to find yoga classes and events nearby. There are also online yoga classes listed there, but you can filter the results to show in-person events only.
6. Search Facebook Events
Another great platform for finding nearby classes is Facebook Events.
On there, you can find tons of local events, including, of course, free yoga classes.
You can search events using the search bar on the left side of the page. Just enter the term “yoga” or “yoga classes” into the search bar, and you should see events near you. This can include things like outdoor yoga events, or free classes at studios, wellness centers, and other venues.
Just have a browse on there and you are sure to find a class nearby!
Some workplaces, particularly gyms, fitness companies and health and wellness companies, provide free or discounted yoga classes to their employees.
But, other companies outside of the fitness industry have also started to provide free yoga classes as a benefit for their employees. Employers offer this because it can make their employees healthier and less stressed.
If your employer doesn’t currently offer free yoga classes to employees, then you can go to HR and ask them about it. Yoga classes could be a good addition to a corporate wellness program.
8. Get a discount from Groupon
While you won’t find totally free yoga classes on Groupon, you can find heavily discounted classes on there. I have seen yoga classes on Groupon that were 90% off!
At the time of writing, there was one deal where you could get a yoga class for 71% off. The deal included one month of unlimited classes too!
It’s really worth having a browse on Groupon because you can find some local yoga classes that are hugely discounted.
9. Try online classes instead
What’s more local than your own home?
Sure, yoga classes can be fun. If you want to save yourself the time and hassle of driving somewhere for an in-person class though, online classes are such a great option.
Online, you can find free yoga and free workout apps and websites that offer yoga classes and videos that are ideal whether you are a beginner or experienced with yoga.
Some great free options include:
- Yoga 360: This is an android app that provides free online yoga classes for beginners.
- Yogamour: You can find free yoga classes on there that have been donated by Yogamour teachers. There’s lots on offer on the site.
- YouTube: YouTube is an excellent resource for anyone who’s looking to learn yoga for free. Just type in “yoga,” “yoga class” or whatever type of yoga you are looking for into the search bar and you will get plenty of results. A couple of good yoga channels on YouTube are YogiApproved.com and CorePower Yoga.
Yoga doesn’t have to cost you a ton of money. There are actually lots of places where you can find free yoga classes near you. You just have to know where to look.
If you’ve been wondering, “where can I find free yoga classes near me?”, then give the options on our list a try. Don’t forget that you can find some awesome discounted classes on Groupon as well.
And, if you don’t feel like leaving the house, try online yoga classes instead!
