Although they already have tons of awesome brands, they continuously add new brands to their list.
They also have a reward program that earns you $5 for each friend you refer to the site who joins.
You can then redeem your earnings for a voucher that can be used to shop for any of their brands.
Not a student? Here’s what you do…
With many of these programs and offers, like Prime Student, all you have to do to qualify for the discount is to sign up with a valid .edu email address – like yourname@mit.edu.
They don’t necessarily check to see if you are actually a current student or not. As long as you signup with a .edu email address, you are good.
No, you can’t just make up a .edu email – they’ll send you a confirmation link through that email which you have to confirm it by clicking the confirmation link.
But what you can do is:
- If you’re a former student and remember your .edu email address, check to see if it’s still working. If so, you’re in luck.
- If you have a kid in college, use their email address.
- Ask your friends to see if they have a functioning student email.
- Some online colleges also offer a .edu email address to their students. So if you were thinking about enrolling, you could take advantage of the free .edu email.
- There are some people who sell or loan their student email on Fiverr and Craigslist.
Some people see this as unethical. So it’s up to you whether or not you use any of these options.
I’m not suggesting or endorsing any of these options. I’m just showing you what’s available.
Final thoughts
College can be a bit financially challenging, but thanks to your student ID, being a college student can actually be a good thing for your wallet!
So next time you go shopping, don’t forget to consult this list to see if there’s a store where you can buy the product you want that offers a student discount.
