Want to know the best place to sell your iPhone?
Well, you’ve come to the right place. In today’s post, I’ll cover some of the best websites out there where you can trade your used phone for cash.
Apple’s iPhone is among the top selling smartphones in the world, competing for the number one spot with the likes of Android and Nokia. This is why Apple constantly upgrades iPhone and the software by introducing new models. From early models like the iPhone 3G to the latest models (at the time of writing this post) like iPhone SE and 12 Pro Max.
For consumers like you and me, this is great but it also means the older your phone is the slower it is (Apple admitted to intentionally slowing down older phones which resulted in the company agreeing to pay up to $500 million to settle claims).
That means you have to constantly upgrade your phone. But we are not made of money, so we can’t just throw away our old models and buy new ones for $100s or even $1000s. That leaves us with the option of selling or trading older models.
Thankfully there are many companies and people who buy used iPhones. I’ve researched each option to see what customers have to say and what their experience was like.
FreeCash: It pays you to test apps, play games & take surveys. Get paid up to $497.82 per offer! Start Earning!

Then, I’ve picked the top ten places based on these customer reviews. Aside from offering a top ten list, I’ve added a few more places you may want to consider that are popular although not quite as well reviewed as those featured in my top ten.
Finally, I’ll list places to sell your phone near you – because sometimes, we just want cash on the spot, right?
Whether you want to trade in your old phone for a newer model or just want to make some cash by selling your used device, consider the sites and companies below.

Top Places to Sell Your iPhone Online
If you are looking to sell your cellphone, these are my top ten sites for doing so. I have chosen these websites because they have awesome reviews on Trustpilot from customers and/or they are accredited with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), where they have a good rating.
I always look at reviews from other customers when considering sites for a list like this because it gives you a much clearer picture of what a company is actually like. I mean, the last thing you want when trying to sell your iPhone is to get ripped off.
Well, with these legit sites, you don’t have to worry.
Here are the top ten best places to sell your iPhone:
1. Buyback Boss
- Trustpilot rating: 4.7 – Excellent
- BBB rating: Accredited – A+
- Payment options: PayPal and check
I have to say, I have reviewed a lot of companies in my time and never have I seen such an overwhelming amount of praise for a company than I have for Buyback Boss as is evident from my review of Buyback Boss. It seems as though pretty much every person who’s used the company has had a good experience.
Through Buyback Boss, you can sell a range of iPhone models, like the iPhone 12 Pro Max, the iPhone 8 Plus, and the iPhone 5.

5. SellCell.com
- Trustpilot rating: 4.3 – Excellent

SellCell.com works in a slightly different way to the other sites on the list so far. Rather than being a company that purchases phones directly, like all the sites above, SellCell.com is a price comparison platform. You can use SellCell.com to compare prices from a variety of buyers.
Just choose the iPhone that you want to sell, and you can find out what it’s worth in just seconds. You can find deals on devices from more than 40 buyback partners. The website is a real time-saver and it’s well reviewed by the customers who’ve used it.

10. BankMyCell
- Trustpilot rating: 4.4 – Excellent
- BBB: No profile
- Payment options: Varies from company to company
Finally, we have BankMyCell. Although it doesn’t have quite as many reviews as the companies above, the reviews it does have are excellent. And, it’s been mentioned by popular media outlets, like Forbes, CBS, and PBS.
BankMyCell differs from all but one of the sites above in that it’s not a company that purchases phones directly, like Decluttr for example. Instead, it’s a site you can use to compare prices from a variety of different buyback companies. So, it works similarly to SellCell.com.
It can save you a lot of time because you don’t have to get prices from a bunch of different sites. Overall, it’s a great site that’s worth checking out if you want to sell your old iPhone. You can choose the best offer, and ship your phone for free using free kits or labels.
Other Places to Sell Used iPhone
Okay, so above, I listed the best sites for selling your iPhone. In this section, I just wanted to talk about a few other websites that are popular and are often mentioned, but just don’t have as good a rating on Trustpilot as the ones above do.
That’s why they didn’t make the top ten list.
SellBroke (more about it below) is the best of the ones in this section because it does have a good rating from the BBB.
They are still popular, so you could consider getting a price from these sites too.
Honestly, I would still get quotes from the sites in this section and if you happen to get a higher quote on one of these sites, then take the offer to Buyback Boss, which offers a price match and is much better reviewed.
11. SellBroke
With SellBroke, you can sell a variety of iPhone models like the iPhone 11 and the iPhone 7 Plus.
Just get a quote, and then you can ship the phone using the free UPS or FedEx prepaid shipping label provided. There are a few payment options on offer like PayPal, Google Pay, or check.
The company is accredited with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), where it has an A+ rating. But, on Trustpilot, it only has a 3-star rating from customers, which is an “Average” rating.
12. Gazelle
You can sell different types of iPhones on Gazelle and like with most of the sites on the list you can get a quote fast and ship your phone to the company for free.
Gazelle is one of the first sites that comes up on Google when you search for places to sell an iPhone. However, on Trustpilot, the company only has a 2.4 rating, which is a “Poor” rating. So that’s not ideal.
13. uSell
Another popular platform that appears often online in lists of places to sell iPhones is uSell. Now, what’s good about this platform is that you can actually sell a broken iPhone on there. The company pays you via PayPal or check.
Now, uSell didn’t make our top ten because it only has a 3.2 rating from Trustpilot, which is an “Average,” rating, and on the BBB not only does it only have a D- rating, and it’s not accredited, it also has more than 150 complaints about it. So, again, I’ve included it because it is a well-known site, but I don’t necessarily think it’s one of the best.
Where Can I Sell My Old iPhone Near Me?
What if you just prefer to sell your iPhone in person? Selling online certainly isn’t your only option. There are plenty of places where you can trade your phone for cash near you.
Selling locally can be beneficial because you can often get cash on the spot.
Also, with some of the options below you can set your own prices rather than being dependent on a quote from the companies above.
The list below includes some stores where you can take your phone in and get paid on the spot.
It also includes some classified and marketplace sites that facilitate local sales.
Now, some of these sites like eBay, for example, don’t have as good reviews as the sites I mentioned in the top ten list above. This is likely because people are selling to each other through those platforms rather than directly to those platforms.
So, if you list your phone on OfferUp or Craigslist, you’ll be dealing with potential buyers from nearby. This can lead to vastly different experiences from person to person. You might get an awesome buyer who pays fast and others will only get time-wasters or scammers. This can be one factor in some of those poor or average reviews.
On the other hand, if you sell to Buyback Boss, you are selling directly to that company meaning that you are dealing with just one place rather than multiple potential buyers. This can result in a more consistent experience for people – meaning a good, or bad experience across the board.
Now, if you are put off by average or poor reviews, as I am, then you may want to skip eBay and OfferUp. But, if you just take some steps to find good buyers, those platforms can work great for you.
If you do skip those types of sites, try in-store options instead because these are reputable stores.
Now that’s out of the way…
Here are the best places to sell phones near you:
14. eBay
A place where you should consider selling is eBay. While you can ship items on eBay, it also facilitates local sales. So you can sell your iPhone to people nearby. What’s good about eBay is that you can set your own price.
You do have to pay a commission fee when your item sells though. But, it’s free to list up to 50 items for sale on eBay.
15. GameStop
You can sell your iPhone to GameStop. It does actually offer cash as a payment option, or you can opt for GameStop credit. Just visit the link above to get started. You can easily find a store near you to trade your used phone for cash. To increase the amount you get back from your trade, check out our post on GameStop Tarde In Value.
16. Best Buy (Gift card only)
Next on the list we have Best Buy. Now, most of us have a Best Buy nearby, right? So, this can be a convenient place to sell.
The only trouble is, Best Buy doesn’t actually offer cash for used devices. Instead, you’ll get a Best Buy Gift card for your old phone. This is handy if you plan to shop there, but if not, skip this option.
Like with most of the options on the list, you can trade in a variety of iPhone models. Visit the link above to learn more.
17. OfferUp
Next on the list we have OfferUp. Now, this site is designed for people who want to buy and sell stuff locally. So, if nearby sales are what you are looking for, then OfferUp is definitely worth a try. You can list your phone for sale on there for free.
And you even get to set your own prices, so this gives you more control over the amount of money that you earn from the sale.
18. 5miles
You could list your iPhone for sale on 5miles. It’s a website and app that you can use to sell stuff to people nearby.
What’s good about the platform is that you can list your stuff for free on there. And, you can list your own prices giving you more control over what you earn.
19. Craigslist
Craigslist is a pretty popular platform for local sales so you could consider listing your iPhone for sale there. And as far as speed goes, this is as close as you can get to selling your iPhone instantly on the spot.
Overall, it’s a good platform because you can put up a listing for free and Craigslist doesn’t charge you any commission fees when items sell. You do have to watch out for scams, as with any sale where you’re selling directly to a buyer, such as through eBay, compared to selling directly to a company like Decluttr. Still though, with Craigslist, you can easily sell your used iPhone.
20. ecoATM
If you’re looking for an easier way to sell your used iPhone that doesn’t involve listing items for sale or dealing with potential buyers, then why not try out ecoATM?
With ecoATM, you can sell your used iPhone. You can find thousands of ecoATM kiosks across the US in groceries stores like Kroger and Walmart. You’ll need your state-issued ID if you decide to sell. The ecoATM will examine your phone and offer you a price. If you accept the offer, you get paid in cash on the spot.
How Much Money Can I Get for Selling My Used iPhone?
Above, I’ve given you lots of places where you can sell your used iPhone. Now, you’re probably wondering, what is your old iPhone worth?
How much money you get from selling your iPhone depends on a few factors like:
- Whether you list the iPhone for sale on a site like eBay or sell it directly to a company like Decluttr.
- The company you sell to.
- How old the phone is – newer models tend to be worth more.
- Whether the phone is unlocked – unlocked phones tend to fetch more money.
- The condition the phone is in – the better condition the phone is in, the more money you can get from it.
Here are some examples of how much you can get for your iPhone when selling directly to some of the companies above:
At Buyback Boss, you could get:
- $105 for an iPhone 8, T-Mobile 128GB in good condition.
- $650 for an iPhone 12 Pro, Sprint, 512 GB in good condition.
- $310 for an iPhone XS, Factory Unlocked, 512 GB in good condition.
At ItsWorthMore.com, you could get:
- $562 for an iPhone 12, unlocked, 256 GB in good condition.
- $109 for an iPhone 7 Plus, Sprint, 32 GB in good condition.
- $28 for an iPhone 6, T-Mobile, 64 GB in good condition.
At Decluttr, you could get:
- $740 for an iPhone 12 Pro, unlocked, 128 GB in good condition.
- $58 for an iPhone 6s Plus, T-Mobile, 32GB in good condition.
- $182 for an iPhone 8 Plus, Sprint, 256 GB in good condition.
If you are planning to list your phone for sale on a site like eBay or Craigslist, rather than selling directly to a company like Buyback Boss or Declutter, then you can set your own prices. But, you will need to check what other people are selling a similar iPhone for so that you can set a price that is both fair to you and realistic for the customer.
Tips for Selling Your iPhone
Okay, so now you have a lot of places to consider, right? Before you decide on a place to sell your phone, make sure that you check out the tips below. These tips cover everything from what you need to do before selling your old iPhone to how you can get the most money for your phone.
1. Sell it right away
New phones come out all the time, right? This pushes down the value of the old model. That’s why you should sell quickly. As soon as you don’t need your iPhone, sell it! It will only depreciate in value with each new release from Apple and its condition will also degrade over time. So, don’t wait around to sell!
2. Get your phone ready to sell
Once you decide to trade in your device, you’re going to want to prepare it for sale. Now, Apple actually has a handy guide for doing this, which you can read here.
You should also make sure that you give the phone a good clean so that it looks good too!
3. Get a few quotes
If you plan to sell your phone directly to a company like Buyback Boss or ItsWorthMore.com, then it’s important to get quotes from a few different places. This ensures that you get the best deal. After, all, you want the most money for your phone, right? Find the best price, and then sell to that company.
4. Check prices on eBay and other similar sites
If you decide to list your phone for sale on a site like eBay, 5miles, or Craigslist, then you should check what prices other people are charging for a similar device in a similar condition. Doing this can help you to decide on a listing price for your phone.
5. Be realistic about the price
Another thing that you should do if you want to sell through a site like Craigslist or eBay is to ensure that you set a realistic price – as in a price that someone would actually pay for it!
Sure, you don’t want to shortchange yourself meaning you’ll want to make sure that the price you list is fair to you. But it also needs to be fair to the customer. Don’t set the price so high that you scare off potential customers but don’t lowball yourself either. Of course, you could set the price slightly higher than you want for the phone so that customers have a bit of room to haggle. Again, though, just set a price that doesn’t leave you short, but doesn’t put off potential customers.
When pricing your iPhone for sale, not only should you check the prices other people are charging, as I mentioned above, but you should also consider other factors like the age of the phone, and its condition. Generally, you get more money for newer models and for phones that are in better condition.
Final Thoughts
There are lots of places where you can trade in your old device for cash so give them a try. You can use the extra cash to get a new phone, to put into your savings account, or to purchase another item.
In terms of what is the best place to sell your iPhone – I think Buyback Boss. People seem to have a great experience with the site. All of the other sites in the top ten are also great.
If you’re looking to sell locally then listing items for sale on eBay or Craigslist can be a good idea because you get to set your own prices. Or, for a more convenient local option, try ecoATM.
