What is the Best App for Delivery Drivers?
First, we’re going to start out with the top 6 delivery companies to work for. These apps appear in this section because they meet one or all of the following criteria:
- They’re available in a wide range of states.
- They pay well.
- They are well-reviewed by drivers.
Basically, these are delivery apps that are known to pay good rates to their drivers, and they are known to be good to work for.
So if you are looking for delivery apps that pay the most money, try these first.
1. Shipt
- Earn up to $22 an hour
Shipt is the best delivery app in my opinion. With Shipt, you get paid to buy and deliver groceries to customers within a requested timeframe.
Things like scheduling, accepting orders, and shopping orders, are all done through the Shipt Shopper app. You use the Shipt card you’re provided with to pay for orders. This card is automatically loaded with funds for orders you’ve claimed that require payment.

Still though, Instacart is a worthy choice for anyone looking to earn money for delivering groceries.
Instacart has two positions available:

- In-Store Shopper: For this role, you get paid to shop for the order and stage it for pick-up. So, you aren’t required to deliver the groceries.

FAQs
In this section, I’m going to cover some common questions and answers that you might have about delivery apps.
What delivery app makes you the most money?
Instacart, DoorDash, UberEats, and Eaze pay the most. With these apps, you can earn up to $30 to $38 an hour.
Which is the best delivery company to work for?
Shipt is one of the best because it’s well-reviewed by drivers. Drivers for Shipt praise the company for giving them a good way to make money on the side, and it pays fast too and offers lots of benefits and resources for its shoppers.
What skills do you need for delivery jobs?
The good thing about these apps is that you don’t need any experience or qualifications to get started. Usually, you just have a meet the age requirement and have a car and license.
That being said, there are a couple of things that will help you out as a delivery person:
- Firstly, being familiar with restaurants, department and grocery stores near you and their layouts is important if you’re working for a grocery delivery app like Shipt or Instacart. It helps a bunch if you know where all the items are in the store. This allows you to complete your shop faster and more conveniently.
- Secondly, knowing what times delivery demand is high for the particular app you’re working for is also important. For example, if you are working for an alcohol delivery app, then demand is likely going to be higher in the evening. Knowing the times when there’s more demand for deliveries allows you to clear some time in your schedule and do some work.
- Finally, being quick and efficient is also important. You want to get your deliveries to customers’ homes on time, and in a professional manner.
How do you earn extra tips as a delivery driver?
Tips are really important with this type of work as they can really boost your earnings.
There are a few things you can do to earn extra tips as a delivery driver:
Get the delivery there on time (and apologize if it’s going to be late)
Customers want their delivery to arrive on time and in good condition. If you know that a delivery is going to be late, make sure you give the customer a heads up and apologize for the delay.
Always be considerate and let the customer know you’re doing everything you can to get their order to them.
Make sure the delivery is in good condition
There’s nothing worse than getting a delivery that looks like it’s been tossed around. Whether you are delivering food from local restaurants with UberEats, or household items with Shipt or GoPuff, make sure that the item is in good condition.
If you’re delivering food, ensure it looks good when it arrives. No one wants a taco that looks like it’s been thrown around in the back of your vehicle. Instead, make sure that your car or bike has a secure place to hold the food. You may need to invest in some straps or a box.
Don’t worry though, you’ll make the money back in tips!
Be friendly and polite
Always make your deliveries with a smile on your face. Being friendly and polite can go a long way. Oh, and don’t be afraid to compliment the customer either. For example, if you see a cute dog or cat, or there’s a nice holiday decoration on the porch, make sure you compliment the customer on it. This can make you more likable.
Don’t take it personally when the customer doesn’t tip
Not all customers will tip you, no matter how good your delivery was. Some people simply forget to tip, some may be having a bad day, and others just might not be the tipping type.
Don’t take this personally or let it discourage you. Keep up the positive attitude, and you’ll be sure to get lots of tips.
Order through the app yourself
One of the best ways to improve your chances of getting tips is to order a delivery for yourself. You can learn a lot from going through the experience as a customer. You can learn what other drivers do well, what they’re doing that’s not so good, and things like that. You can make a note of anything memorable that you could use to get extra tips on your deliveries.
How to Choose the Best Delivery App Job
Okay, so there are 10 apps on our list above. How do you decide which one is right for you?
It can be difficult to choose between different delivery app jobs because there are so many good options out there. The best one is going to be the one that best meets your requirements.
For example, your main goal may be to find a delivery job that pays the most or it might be the job that gives you the most flexibility.
So, you need to think about what it is you want from a delivery app and then choose the one that best suits your needs
Here are some things to consider before you choose the best delivery app job for you:
Availability
Is the app available in your city? Not all delivery apps operate in all cities in the US. This means that you may not be able to work for a particular app. Some, like Eaze and Favor, only operate in a single state.
Make sure that the delivery app offers its services in your region and that’s it’s popular there with high demand.
Driver requirements
You should also consider what the driver requirements are. The requirements differ from app to app. While many apps require drivers to be 18 years old, others, like Amazon Flex and Saucey, have a higher minimum age of 21 years old.
Also, some apps require you to have a car and others will allow you to make your deliveries with a bike or scooter. So, check to see what the requirements are and make sure you qualify.
Your schedule
While most delivery apps offer flexible working hours, which is why they can make for such a good side hustle, this might not always be the case. For example, restaurant delivery is mostly in demand during lunch and dinner hours. Delivery of alcohol is mostly in demand during late-night hours. Grocery delivery tends to be more of an all-day type of deal, where you could deliver in the morning or evening.
Consider what types of deliveries you’ll be making and choose an app that best suits your schedule.
