Nowadays, there are dozens of apps that make selling any item a much quicker and much easier process. These apps, essentially, let you sell your stuff right from your closet.
So, whether it’s a sofa you no longer need or a bike that’s been cluttering up your garage, here are 20 apps that you can use to sell your unwanted items and make some money in the process.
1. 5Miles
5Miles is an app that allows you to buy, sell and search local classifieds and yard sales online. This app is much more location specific than others, as it allows you to buy and sell items that are within five miles of your location. This means that with this app, goods never have to travel far to reach their recipient. It’s a secure app that encourages verification of all of its members.

2. Poshmark
If you’re a fan of luxury fashion, then Poshmark is the app for you. With this free app, you can sell high-end handbags, shoes, clothing and other fashion accessories. The app allows you to communicate with the buyer and process payments.
It’s easy to use and, best of all, the buyer pays for shipping. But, it’s important to note that the app does take a 20% commission on items over $15.

3. LetGo
LetGo is an app that allows you to sell anything from smartphones to shoes.
Similar to 5miles, LetGo is another location-specific app, which allows you to filter items based on distance from your location. This site does a great deal to make its members feel safe. You login to LetGo via Facebook.
It will connect your profile to Facebook and your name and profile photo are imported. This step aids the app in confirming that you are who you say you are, and this makes you seem more trustworthy to other users. With the app you can communicate with other users and use the review system to rate buyers.

If you’ve got an old coffee table or bookcase you need to get rid of, then Trove Market is the platform for you. This app allows you to sell vintage and used furniture.
The app has a super active community that discusses furniture and home décor and takes part in the apps daily quiz. You can use the app to communicate with buyers and to take payment.

With OfferUp, you can sell anything, making it one of the most versatile buying/selling platforms.
It offers a range of useful, convenient features, like instant alerts when a user connects with you, the ability to contact buyers through the app and a ratings system that shows you the best buyers/sellers.

6. Dealo
Combining elements of CraigsList, eBay, and Amazon, Dealo is one of the best apps for selling things online. You don’t need an account to start browsing items – but, you’ll need one if you want to sell things.
Dealo is a location specific app, so it will provide local listings. But, if you want to sell elsewhere, even worldwide, the app does have verified shipping as well. Payments on the site are processed via PayPal.

7. Varage Sale
Varage sale (‘varage’ is a portmanteau for virtual garage) is an online garage sale.
The app allows you to buy and sell all of the items you’d expect to find at a yard sale, like clothing, toys, books and cribs.
Currently, this community-centric app is only available to users in select cities.

8. Amazon Seller App
If you’re serious about selling, then you’ll definitely want to take a look at the Amazon Seller App. If you’re interested in using Amazon’s Seller platform, then this app makes it much easier. It provides a suite of features that make selling easier, like the ability to communicate with buyers, view sales ranking, list multiple products and manage your seller account.

9. Boxes
Boxes is a more unique buying and selling app, as it combines elements of social media and eCommerce. It’s not just focused on buying and selling. Instead, Boxes allows you to organize and catalog your belongings into a collection through photos, which you can then share with other users.
If they want to, these other users can purchase items from your collection. Essentially, it’s an image-based, social network for items, which allows users to buy and sell things.
Think of it as Instagram for your belongings, but you can sell the items featured in the photos.

10. Mercari
For selling clothing, gadgets and electronics, there’s no better app than Mercari. With this app you can sell a plethora of new and used items, and keep track of your sales within the app.
You can even share your listing on social media with this app and increase its reach. But, best of all, Mercari is free and it does not take a commission from your sales.

Chairish is another free app that you can use to buy and sell furniture and home décor items. This app focuses more on higher end and vintage pieces.
All you need to do is provide simple details and a few photos of your item, and the site does the rest for you. This is another app that charges a 20% commission fee on sales.

12. Carousell
Whether it is clothing or gadgets, you can use Carousell to sell almost anything. With this app, you can create a beautiful listing in under 30 seconds. It provides a number of great features, like the ability to instantly share listings on social media.
This app differs from others in this list in that it doesn’t require you to take payments within the app. Instead, you’re supposed to meet with the potential buyer offline, at a safe location that both parties have previously agreed upon and then send money using another method, like PayPal for example. So, this gives you much more flexibility when selling an item.

Shpock gives users quick and easy access to all of the gems on sale in their neighborhood. Using this app, you can quickly and easily sell your things to those in your local area.
Whether it’s an antique necklace or a secondhand smartphone, this app allows you to sell a variety of items.
With Shpock, you can put up a listing in less than 30 seconds. It’s a free app too, which doesn’t charge fees for basic usage.

Vinted is a unique eCommerce app that allows you to buy, sell or swap fashion pieces, from shoes to clothing.
On the site, you can easily communicate with other members and payments are processed within the app. It does take a 19% commission fee.

Wallapop is a relatively new app that allows you to sell items in your community. Whether it’s a car or a computer, all you need to do to place an item on Wallapop is take a photo, write a short description and set your price.
The app is free to use and acts as your own virtual flea market.

Depop is a photo-based, virtual flea market where you can sell almost anything, whether its records or books. Essentially it mixes aspects of eCommerce sites, like eBay, with elements of social media sites, like Instagram.
It even provides filters that you can use to enhance your photos. The app is free and it doesn’t take commission fees.

You can make some extra cash by simply swapping and selling your stuff to your community with Swaptions.
It takes just 30 seconds to post a listing on Swaptions and it’s completely free.

18. SocialSell
With SocialSell, you can buy and sell new and used items locally. It doesn’t have a main website – instead, all listings are processed through Android and iOS apps.
You can communicate with buyers through the app, meaning you don’t have to give out your email address if you don’t want to.
It’s a relatively new app, so it might not be available yet in your area, but feedback for SocialSell, so far, has been positive.

Sell items to people in your neighborhood with Tradyo. Tradyo is a classified app, which allows you to post listings for free.
This app provides you with a selection of useful features, like instant chat, which makes selling your unwanted items easier.

A unique app that lets you make money off of unwanted items is OLX. It’s a free classifieds app that allows you to sell items in your local area. So, whether it’s a used car or a vintage piece of furniture, OLX connects you with millions of buyers.
All you need to do is take a photo, create a short product description and then post your listing. This app utilizes your phone’s location, meaning you can use it on-the-go to find buyers in your area.
You can also share your listings easily on social media.

21. Decluttr
Decluttr is a great app to unload your old DVD’s, cell phones, textbooks, game consoles, and tablets for extra cash.
It’s pretty easy to sell on this app, you simply scan the bar-code for the items you wish to sell to find the item in their database. Then you ship the item to them for free.
You can receive payments from the quickly via PayPal, or you can choose to get an old fashioned check in the mail when you sell your goods.
