How Do I Work for Amazon from Home
Before we get top the list of jobs, I should mention that this list covers all the ways you can make money with Amazon, whether it’s through traditional full-time or part-time jobs working directly as an Amazon employee/associate or using the Amazon platform to make money as an independent business owner.
With that said, here are legitimate ways to work with and for Amazon from home.
1. Find a work at home job with Virtual Locations
Okay, so I’ve given you lots of at-home Amazon jobs above. Most of them are freelance based, or jobs that offer passive ways to make money.
If you’re looking for a more traditional work at home position, like customer support agent or sales manager, then look no further than Amazon’s Virtual Locations section.
Here, you’ll find virtual, or work from home positions.
There are jobs available in a huge variety of categories, like:
- Customer service
- Design
- Marketing & PR
- Finance & Accounting
- Database administration
- Operations, IT & support engineering
- Solutions architect
- Fulfilment and operations management
- Sale, Advertising, and Account Management
- Software development
- Project/Programme/Product Management-NON-TECH
- Human resources
- Business and merchant development
- Project/Programme/Product Management-TECHNICAL
- Leadership development & training

- Administrative support
At the time of writing, there were lots of at-home Amazon jobs available, like:
- Customer service associate

- Software development engineer
If you’re looking for work from home jobs, I’d highly recommend checking out the listings in the Virtual Locations section.

How much does it pay?
Pay varies from job to job. So check the details of the specific position you want to apply for to learn more about pay rate.
2. Make money from the Amazon Influencer Program
The Amazon Influencer Program is an extension of the Amazon Associates program.
It’s designed for people with a qualifying account on:
- YouTube
With this program you get your own page on Amazon with a custom URL and use it to recommend thousands of products. When customers shop through your storefront, you earn money on qualifying purchases.
To qualify for the program, you need to have a YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook account. Amazon also looks at the number of followers you have and other engagement metrics of your social media presence.
To apply, you need to choose one social media account where you have the largest influence on your followers.
YouTube and Twitter accounts get real-time approval. But Facebook and Instagram accounts may take up to 5 days to be approved.
Amazon says that if you don’t qualify now, you should come back in the future, as the eligibility requirements may change.
Once you’re approved for the program, you can start curating your page right away.
- Learn more about the Amazon Influencer program here.
How much does it pay?
Like with the Amazon Associates program, you get a commission on sales. So how much you earn depends on how much commission you get, how many products you sell through your affiliate links, and the value of the products sold.
3. Make money as an affiliate with Amazon Associates
Next on the list we have Amazon Associates.
If you’re looking for an easy way to make money with Amazon from home, I’d highly recommend the program.
It’s an affiliate program that gives you a commission when people make a purchase on Amazon using your affiliate links.
You can post your links on places like:
- Social media
- Blogs
- Websites
- Newsletters
- Videos
This is such an easy way to make money. You don’t have to sell anything of your own. All you need to do is get an affiliate link to the product you want to earn a commission from.
Work starts with promotion though. If no one sees your affiliate links, you won’t get any sales.
This means you need to promote your links online and get people to see them.
- Learn more about Amazon Associates here.
How much does it pay?
For each sale, you’ll earn up to 10% in affiliate fees.
Things like how many sales you make, the commission you get, and the value of the items you sell will all determine how much money you make with Amazon Associates.
For example, if a customer buys a $500 camera and you get 10% commission, you’d earn $50 for that sale.
On the other hand, if someone buys a $10 planner, and you get 10% commission, you’d only get $1 for that sale.
If you have a lot of links out there, you could make $100s in affiliate sales.
4. Try out FBA
Would you like to start your own business selling stuff through Amazon?
Then I’d highly recommend that you check out Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA).
FBA is a program that anyone with an Amazon account can use to sell stuff on Amazon FBA.
Since Amazon, as I said before, gets millions of visitors each month, this can be an incredibly lucrative venture.
So how exactly does it work?
- Choose a product you want to sell. You can source stuff from websites like Alibaba if you want to.
- Get your items delivered to an Amazon fulfillment center
- Amazon handles the rest for you! It will ship your items when they sell and even deal with customer service as well.
It’s that simple.
Amazon does charge you fulfillment fees though for providing these services. You can learn more about these fees here.
- Learn more about FBA here.
How much does it pay?
FBA is one of those ventures where the sky really is the limit.
There are lots of factors at play of course that determine your income. Things like what it is you’re selling, how many units you sell, and what fulfillment fees you’re charged will all affect your income.
Let’s turn to Reddit for a few examples.
In this Reddit thread, one person says they make $17,000 a month in profits and another person says that they broke 6 figures in sales in just 9 months. That’s pretty great, right?
On a different Reddit thread, one person says they made $1,633.34 in sales in their first month.
This means that its possible to make $1,000s selling stuff with FBA.
Now, you do need to keep in mind with this one that there are upfront costs. For example, you have to pay for the products you’re going to sell and for getting your inventory shipped to Amazon. Also, there are the fees that Amazon charges you.
This means that if you don’t have that money to invest upfront, give this one a miss.
If you do, then give it a try and you could have your very own FBA business that you can run right from your home.
5. Join Amazon Vine
Next on our list is Amazon Vine. Now, this one isn’t a job per se.
It’s more of a program that you can use to get free stuff from Amazon.
But free stuff equals you not having to spend anything which equals more cash in your bank account, right?
Amazon Vine is an invitation-only program designed to give out freebies to the site’s reviewers.
Amazon chooses trusted reviewers to post their opinions about new and prerelease products.
Reviewers who’re invited to the program are called Vine Voices.
If Amazon selects you, you’ll get free products from participating vendors. You’ll then leave an honest and unbiased opinion on the products you try.
So, if it’s invitation-only, how exactly do you get chosen, you ask?
Well, there’s no way to apply for Amazon Vine.
That being said, Amazon does look for a few things when selecting Vine Voices:
- Customers are chosen based on their reviewer rank. Each customer who reviews stuff on Amazon has a reviewer rank. This basically indicates the quality of your reviews and how helpful other customers judge them to be.
- If you write helpful reviews on a consistent basis, you’re more likely to be chosen.
- You’re more likely to be invited to the program if you develop a reputation for expertise in specific product categories.
To learn more about how Amazon determines reviewer rankings, just visit this page.
How much does it pay?
Like I said above, Vine Voices aren’t paid. Instead, you get free products. That’s pretty sweet, right? I’ve noticed on Amazon that when I’m reading reviews, there are always a few from Vine Voices appearing on the list. In fact, I’ve seen Vine Voices reviewing everything from books to pillows.
You could easily get $100s worth of free stuff from this program.
6. Sell t-shirts and more with Merch by Amazon
Next on the list, we have Merch by Amazon. This is a program for designers who want to sell t-shirts and other merch on Amazon.
Basically, you upload your design and it goes on a t-shirt. You can choose what color t-shirts you want to sell your design on.
Once your design is approved, that t-shirt will go up for sale on Amazon. When a customer purchases it, Amazon prints it on demand and ships it for you.
The site handles everything for you.
My husband sells through the program and gets paid every month for designs he did years ago. So he makes money in his sleep basically.
Now, the thing with Merch by Amazon is that you have to apply to and be approved for the program.
You can’t just sign up and start uploading your t-shirt designs to the site.
Amazon isn’t very forthcoming with how long its approval process takes.
I’ve seen reports online that say it takes anywhere from 4 weeks to 6 months to get approval.
However, my husband was approved in just 3 days. So it really does seem to vary.
When you first join the platform, you’ll only be able to upload 10 designs.
After that though, if you upload quality work, Amazon will upgrade you to the next tier where you can sell 25 t-shirts, and then you can have 500 on there eventually (although it is possible for some designers to get 1,000s of t-shirts listed on the site).
How much does it pay?
You can set whatever price you want for t-shirts. But, within reason of course. I’m unsure whether someone would pay $200 for a t-shirt!
So you can determine how much you sell your stuff for.
Your income is mainly determined though by how many t-shirts you sell. The more you sell each month, the more money you’ll make.
This Redditor says they earn about $626 a month from the platform.
Payment is sent 30 days after the end of the calendar month in which the product was shipped. So you’d get paid for products that shipped in April at the end of May. You get paid right into your bank account. It’s automatically sent using an electronic funds transfer (ETF), which is awesome. There’s no minimum amount you have to earn to receive your money either.
7. Get paid to do small tasks with Amazon Mturk
Have a busy schedule?
Then you may want to give Amazon Mechanical Turk (Mturk) a try. It pays you for doing simple tasks. This is great if you’re trying to fit in an at-home job around college, looking after your children or another job.
Mturk pays you for doing tasks that computers can’t do, such as:
- Verifying restaurant details, like phone numbers or opening hours
- Writing content for websites
- Tagging objects found in an image
- Moderating content by auditing user-uploaded images or videos.
- Editing and transcribing audio content
- Translating content from language to another
- Rating how accurate search results are
- Classifying and identifying objects found in satellite imagery.
- Removing duplicate content from business listings.
- Helping companies to choose a photo that best represents a product.
- Completing market research or survey data on a range of topics
And while there are many MTurk competitors, it remains one of the most popular platforms of its kind.
- Learn more about Mturk here.
How much does it pay?
Pay varies from task to task. Your money is sent right to your bank account, which is awesome. You can also choose to have your money put on an Amazon gift card.
8. Self-publish books with Kindle Direct Publishing
Next we have Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP).
While Amazon now sells pretty much everything, it was once an online bookstore. Books are still a key part of Amazon’s fabric, with many of the site’s top-selling items being novels.
Amazon allows anyone to upload their own book through Kindle Direct Publishing. So yes, you can also make money selling books on Amazon.
If you’ve ever thought about writing a book, I’d highly recommend checking out the program.
You can publish and sell fiction and non-fiction on there, which is great.
- Learn more about Amazon KDP here.
How much does it pay?
Some people make a fulltime living selling their books on Amazon.
Having a large catalog helps. If a customer likes your first book, they’re likely to check if you have another. So having a few on there can increase your income.
The program gives you 35% to 75% royalties, which is far more generous than the royalties offered by traditional publishing houses.
There are millions of books on Amazon, so you will need to put effort into marketing and promoting your books in order to drive sales and set yourself ahead of the competition.
If you can get readers to your books though, this can be a lucrative career. Plus, once a book is uploaded, you keep making money from it over and over. So it’s a good passive income stream.
I’ve seen authors making $100,000 selling on Amazon. That’s not the case for everyone of course.
A quick browse of Reddit shows that people are making $100s a month through KDP. A writer on this Reddit thread, for example, earns $300 to $500 a month selling their books through KDP.
Offline Amazon Jobs
Maybe working at home isn’t for you?
Don’t worry; Amazon has plenty of jobs that get you out of the house too.
9. Drive for Amazon Flex
Since it has millions of customers, it has millions of packages to deliver.
And of course, Amazon needs delivery drivers to make these deliveries.
You can sign up as a delivery driver through Amazon Flex.
As I mentioned in my Amazon Flex driver review, the job is pretty simple.
Just open up the Amazon Flex app, search for available delivery blocks near you, and accept the ones you want.
You’ll be able to view your estimated earnings for each job, along with how long the block is expected to take you to complete.

Who wouldn’t want to get paid to shop, right?
Amazon has lots of shopper jobs that pay you to, well, shop!
There are flexible, part-time schedules available, which is pretty great.
You’ll work as a Prime Now shopper at Whole Foods. You choose items in the store and then package them for one or two-hour delivery.
You can choose flexible hours each week, mostly mornings, evenings, and weekends.
What’s good about being a Prime Now shopper is that you can select shifts from your mobile phone. You can select from 4 to 5 hour shifts and work up to 20 hours a week or as little as four hours per month.
Since shifts change due to business need, Amazon will send you a message as new hours become available.
You just work in-store. You don’t deliver groceries.
