Where to Sell Your PS4 Console
Here are the best places you can sell your used PlayStation 4 video game console.
1. Decluttr
I love Decluttr (review) because it makes selling stuff so easy. I’ve seen so many people have positive experiences with this platform.
In fact, it has more than 13,000 reviews on Trustpilot, which is super impressive. Even more so though is the fact that Decluttr has a rating of 4.6 stars on Trustpilot!
Here’s what you can sell on the platform:
- Sony PS4 Pro: 1TB and 2TB
- Sony PS4: 1TB and 500GB
Like I said, selling on there is so easy.
Here’s how it works:
- Visit the website
- Get an instant price for your PS4
- Get paid by check, PayPal, or direct deposit.
Since there are no fees charged by Decluttr, it’s easy to see what you can earn from the platform.
Your payment is sent the day after your console arrives too, which means you make money fast.
Another thing that sets Decluttr apart from other platforms on this list is that fact that it will pay the full amount offered or return your console to you for free!
Here’s where you can get the app:

2. Swappa
Another awesome platform for selling a PS4 is Swappa.
On Swappa, you can sell your:
- PlayStation 4 Slim
- PlayStation 4 Pro
- PlayStation 4
Swappa is an excellent platform to sell through, with more than 7,000 reviews on Trustpilot and an impressive 4.9-star rating on the platform.
Here’s how selling your PS4 on Swappa works:
- List your PlayStation 4 for sale on the site. Just add information about your console, upload some photos of it and choose the price you want to sell it for.
- The site’s moderation team will then review your listing. Once it’s approved, your listing will be added to the marketplace where other users will be able to view it.
- Once your console sells, you’re paid via PayPal.
What’s great about Swappa is that once your item, whether it’s laptop, phone, gaming console or video game, sells, you get paid instantly.
Sellers don’t pay fees to Swappa, which is great.
Here’s where you can get the app:
- Download Swappa for Android devices here.
3. r/GameSale Reddit thread
If you want to sell your PS4, Reddit might not be the first place you consider. It really is a worth a look though.
There’s a subreddit, called r/GameSale that’s great if you’re looking to sell your old PlayStation console. It’s basically a marketplace for buying and selling everything video game related, including consoles.
I’d highly recommend listing your unwanted console on there. After all, you can still list it on the other sites in this article. It’s great to get exposure if you’re looking to sell your PS4 fast.
4. Buyback world
On Buyback World, you can sell all kinds of gaming consoles including, Nintendo, Microsoft Xbox, as well as a variety of PS4 consoles and games, such as:
- PS4 500 GB Black Console
- PS4 Pro 1TB Black Console
- PS4 Slim 1TB Black Console
- PS4 Slim 500 GB White Console
Here’s how it works:
- Visit the website
- Get a quote for your particular PS4 console.
- Ship your items to Buyback World. This is free to do, as the site will give you a prepaid shipping label to print at home or it will send a shipping kit right to your door. You can track your package at every step of the way, which is awesome.
There’s a 30-day price protection promise available too.
What’s awesome about selling your PlayStation to Buyback World is that it pays you within 2 business days. There are no hidden fees either.
The site offers you a few different payment options:
- PayPal
- Check
- Direct deposit
- com gift cards
- Prepaid debit card
If the price quoted changes once the site gets your console, you’ll get an email to let you know and if you’re not satisfied the company will return it to you for free.
Buyback World isn’t quite as highly rated as Decluttr and Swappa, although it still has almost 4-stars on Trustpilot, and a B rating from the Better Business Bureau.
5. Walmart
Next up, we have Walmart. Since Walmart is such a well-known company, you might want to consider selling your PlayStation to the store.
This is a good option if you shop at Walmart often because you’ll get a Walmart gift card rather than cash for your console.
Like I said though, if you shop there a lot a Walmart gift card would be useful to you.
Here’s how it works:
- Visit the Walmart CExchange site (linked in the section title).
- Find your device and answer a few questions.
- Ship it to CExchange. You’ll get a prepaid shipping label and can ship it for free with FedEx Ground shipping.
After your console is evaluated, you’ll get an instant Walmart eGift card.
6. eBay
You might want to consider listing your console for sale on eBay.
The sites above are great if you want to sell fast, because you’re selling directly to the site.
You’re not having to list your console for sale and having to wait for someone to purchase it. However, that convenience sometimes comes with a lower price offered for your console.
Not always, of course, but many times.
When you list your item for sale though, you can set whatever price you want to – within reason of course.
This means you can often get a better price for your console than you would be quoted from one of the site’s above.
Like I said though, that’s not always the case.
So it is worth checking the price you’d get on sites like Decluttr and Swappa and comparing it to the price other people are selling the same console for on eBay.
If you can get more on eBay, then list it for sale on there.
After all, the site has more than 182 million shoppers.
You can list your console on there in minutes. You can print a label directly on eBay too.
The only issue with selling on eBay is that you do have to ship the item to the customer and you may have to pay a seller fee. It’s free to list your first 50 items on eBay. But you do have to pay a percentage of what you earn when your console sells.
So do keep that in mind when comparing how much you’d make on eBay for your console compared to the price you could get on a site like Decluttr.
7. It’s Worth More
Next on the list we have It’s Worth More.
With an A rating from the BBB and a four-star rating from customers on there too, it’s definitely a site to consider.
You can sell a range of Sony consoles on there, including:
- PS4
- PS4 Slim
- PS4 Pro
Here’s how it works:
- Find your device and provide some details about its condition.
- Get an instant quote.
- Ship your items to the company. It’s free to do, as you get a free, trackable prepaid shipping label.
- Once the company has inspected your console, it’ll pay you within two days.
8. Target Trade-In
Target is another super popular store where you can trade in your PS4.
You can sell a few different PS4 models, such as:
- PS4
- PS4 Slim
- PS4 Pro
Now, like with Walmart, Target gives you gift cards, but it also has cash payments available too!
Again though, many of us shop at Target so getting a gift card for the store could be handy for you. Or you can go with the cash.
Here’s how it works:
- Visit the Target Trade-In website (linked in the section title). Click on Sony to view the consoles you can trade-in.
- Click on your console and then provide a few details about it.
- Get a quote and ship your console to Target using the prepaid shipping label that’s provided. Target says it ensures same-day processing and fast-payment.
You’ll receive a Target gift card or get instant availability to cash through PayPal at all participating Target stores – with no PayPal account required.
9. Sell Broke
This is one of the most underrated sites to sell used electronics. With an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau and a 4-star rating from customers on there too, Sell Broke is definitely a site to consider selling your PlayStation 4 on.
What’s great about the aptly named Sell Broke is that you can sell devices on there even if they don’t work.
Here’s how selling your console on Sell Broke works:
- Choose the console you want to sell and then select the condition it’s in.
- The site will email you a free UPS or FedEx prepaid shipping label, along with a PDF packing slip. Just pack your console and make sure you put a copy of your packing slip with it in the box. Tape your prepaid shipping label to the box and drop it off at any FedEx or UPS store location.
- Once the company gets your console, it’ll inspect it to see if the condition of it matches what you put on the instant quote form.
- You’re paid if the item does match. If the condition doesn’t match or there’s a problem, the site will get in touch with you via email.
Sell Broke offers a few different payment options, including:
- PayPal
- Google Pay
- BoA company check
10. Gadget Salvation
Gadget Salvation is another place to sell laptop, phones and of course your PS4. With an impressive 4.5 star rating on Trustpilot, it’s definitely a site to consider.
Here’s how selling your console to Gadget Salvation works:
- Choose your device and answer a few questions about the condition of your console.
- Complete the checkout form and get a free prepaid shipping label. All you need is a box to put your console in. Then you can print out the prepaid shipping label, pack your device, and drop it off at any UPS store.
- Once the company receives your console, it will test it and pay you within 48 business hours.
What’s great about the site is that you can cancel anytime and get your device back for free.
Gadget Salvation offers a few different payment options:
- PayPal
- Check
- Venmo
- Bank transfer
11. Trade4Cash
Trade4Cash has an impressive A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, making it a site to consider for selling your Sony PS4 console.
The site offers free shipping and fast payments.
It offers a few different payment methods too, including:
- PayPal
- Check
- Gift card
You can sell consoles on there, including the PS4. Now, I’ve included this site near the bottom of this section because at the time of writing, when I visited the PS4 section, it said, “There are no products matching the selection.”
So I couldn’t get a quote for any PS4 console. In the future though, there may be offers available.
12. SellCell
SellCell, as the name suggests, started as a place to sell used cellphones but it has morphed into a platform where you can sell all kinds of used electronics.
It works in a slightly different way to the other sites on this list. Instead of selling directly to the site like you would with Decluttr or listing your console for sale like you would on eBay, with SellCell, you compare prices.
You can use the site to compare the price you’d get for your console at a range of different vendors, like Decluttr and Buyback World.
This is such a handy website, because it saves you having to compare the price on each individual site.
So give it a try to find the best deals on your console.
Where Can I Sell My PS4 for Cash Near Me?
With the sites above, you can just ship your stuff and earn cash. But you may want to sell your device nearby, especially if you’re looking for some quick cash.
Here are some great places where you can sell your PS4 for cash near you.
13. Gamestop
Gamestop buys all sorts of devices including games consoles.
Here’s how it works:
- Find your local store. Gather up your PS4, including any cords or related accessories and take them with you to the store.
- At the store, an employee will appraise your console and give you a quote.
- If you accept the quote, you can get cash or credit.
Generally, Gamestop credit offers tend to have a higher value than cash ones do.
You can also trade any current-gen games, hardware/consoles, controllers, headsets, and phones. By the way, read my post on Gamestop trade in value for tips on how to increase the value of your trade so you can get more money for whatever you are trading.
14. Best Buy
Best Buy is another place to consider selling your console. You can see the value of your console online and then visit your nearest store to sell it.
An employee will grade your product’s condition and verify it’s functionality. Then you’ll get a quote for your item.
Best Buy pays you with a Best Buy gift card, rather than cash.
15. OfferUp
OfferUp is a website and app where people can buy and sell stuff locally. This means that if you’re looking to sell your PS4 for cash near you, you should definitely check out OfferUp.
You can list your console on there fast! And you get to set your own price for it.
Here’s where you can get the app:
16. LetGo
Next on the list we have LetGo. It’s an app where you can buy and sell used stuff to people nearby.
You can list your console on there and sell it to someone locally. Again, you can set your own prices, which is awesome.
What’s great about LetGo is that it’s totally free to sell on there.
Here’s where you can get the app:
17. 5miles
Another website and app to consider is 5miles. It’s another app that focuses on selling stuff to people close-by. You can list your PS4 on there and sell it to someone locally.
Here’s where you can get the 5miles app:
18. Craigslist
Next on the list, we have one of the oldest and still best classified sites, Craigslist. Craigslist is a popular site, so it could be a good idea to list your PS4 for sale there. You could get cash selling your console to someone nearby.
How Much is My PS4 Worth?
Okay, now you know the best places to sell your used or new PlayStation 4 game console. So naturally the next question you might have would be, “how much can I sell my ps4 for?”
After all, you want to make selling it worth your while!
How much you’ll get for your PS4 depends on a variety of factors, like:
- What type of PS4 you have, such as the original or Pro.
- What condition your console is in.
- Where you sell your console.
Here are a few examples of what you could get for your console on the sites I mentioned above:
Decluttr offers $110 for a Sony 500 GB PS4 in Good condition.
At Target, you could get:
- As much as $138.94 for a PlayStation 4 Pro
- As much as $91.91 for a PlayStation 4 Slim
- As much as $91.91 for a PlayStation 4.
- As much as $75.53 for a PS4 Call of Duty Black Ops III Limited Edition Console 1TB.
On Gadget Salvation, you could get:
- $35 for a 500GB PlayStation 4
- $72 for a 1TB PlayStation Pro
On eBay here are a few examples of the price people were selling their pre-owned PS4s for at the time of writing:
- $165 for a 500 GB PlayStation 4 console
- $279 for a 1TB PS4 Slim console
- $300 for a PS4 Pro Console with Red Dead Redemption 2 Bundle
Like I said before, the price you get really depends on the model you have, where you sell your console and what condition it’s in.
Preparing Your PS4 for Sale
Okay now that you know where to sell your console, I have a few tips on how to prep your PS4 for sale and for selling your console.
These tips will help you to get the best deal on your PlayStation, have a smooth selling process, and ensure that your PS4 is ready to be handed to its new owner.
Here are my tips for selling a PS4…
Back up your data
The most important thing to do before selling your console is wipe it clean. You want the new owner to have a blank slate.
If you have anything you want to keep, this means you’ll really want to make sure that you have all of your data backed up before wiping your console.
Doing this is pretty easy.
All you need is an external storage device. Just plug your external storage device into your PS4.
Then you can start backing up your data.
Here’s how:
- From the homepage of your console go to “Settings.”
- Then scroll down from “System” and choose “Back Up and Restore.”
- Select “Back Up PS4.”
That’s it! Your data will now be saved to your external storage device.
Make sure your PlayStation account is no longer linked to the console
Now it’s time to start wiping your console clean. The first thing you’ll want to do is delete your user profile.
Doing this erases all saved game data and screenshots captured by that account from the hard drive. Also, any game licenses or applications that were bought by that profile and were shared won’t be available unless a different profile on your PS4 also owns the license and/or has your PS4 registered as their primary console.
Here’s how you can delete a user profile:
- Go to “Settings”
- Choose “Parental Controls/Family Management.”
- Sign into the PlayStation Network if you’re not already.
- Select “Family Management”
- Under “Family Members,” choose the name of the profile you want to delete.
- Then select “Delete User Profile,” and follow the prompts to complete the process.
You can also deactivate the console as your primary PS4 to ensure that your PlayStation account is no longer linked to the system you’re going to sell.
Here’s how:
- Go to the “Settings” menu from the homepage of your PS4.
- Scroll down and choose “Account Management”
- Select “Activate” as your Primary PS4.
- From the “Activate” menu, select “Deactivate.”
Now your PlayStation account will no longer be linked to your console.
Wipe your PlayStation and restore system settings to default values
Next you’ll want to restore system settings. Doing this will ensure that all of your data is wiped clean. It takes a few hours, but it’s definitely worth doing before you sell your console.
Here’s how you can wipe your console clean:
- Go to the “Settings” menu from the homepage of your PS4.
- Scroll down to the very bottom and select “Initialization.”
- Choose “Initialize PS4.”
- Select “Full initialization.”
That’s it – in a few hours your data will be wiped clean and your PlayStation will be ready to hand off to its new owner.
Compare prices before you sell
When you come to sell your PS4, I would highly recommend getting quotes from a few places.
You want to make sure you get the most cash for your device. So taking the time to compare prices is the best way to do that.
You could use SellCell to compare offers from different sites or you could check with each site yourself.
If you don’t plan to sell directly to a website or store, like Swappa or Best Buy, and instead plan to list your console for sale on a site like eBay or LetGo, you should still compare prices.
Just visit eBay, LetGo or whatever store or app where you plan to list your console, and see what price other people are selling the same console for.
Doing this gives you a realistic idea of the price you should list your device for.
Be honest about the condition of your PS4
So you’ve prepped your PlayStation and you’ve got a good idea of where you want to sell your console. My final tip would be that regardless of where you’re selling your console, be honest about it’s condition.
If you say to Decluttr that your console is in excellent condition, but really it’s got a few scuffs or scratches, then you’re not going to get that initial price you were quoted.
Similarly, if you want to sell your console to someone nearby through LetGo and you say on the listing that your console is in pristine condition, and again it’s not, then when you meet up with the buyer, they’re going to be disappointed and unlikely to offer you the price you asked for.
So always be honest about the condition of your console as you’ll save yourself hassle in the future and you won’t have to worry about disappointing a potential buyer.
Closing Thoughts
If you’re wondering where to sell your PS4, then give the places above a try.
Whether you want to sell directly to a site like Swappa or sell your PS4 for cash nearby, there are so many options out there for selling, which is awesome!
