These days, most companies have some kind of product testing process where they… well, test the products they make to ensure they are up to their standards.
Why should you care?
Because you can get free stuff!
We have talked about product testing for Nike before, but today we are going to talk about becoming a product tester for another giant in the sportswear industry, Under Armour.
Under Armour, like most other companies, has a rigorous testing program known as “Field Testing Program” where they use “real athletes” at different levels to check the performance of their products–apparel, footwear, and accessories.
Their Design and Product Teams then uses the feedback from these testers to find out if the products are performing as they should, as well as to improve the products.

How Does Product Testing Work?
It’s simple really.
First, you’ll have to sign up for Under Armour’s Field Testing Program.
Once your application is approved, they will send you a product–be it an Under Armour shoe, hoodie, backpack, t-shirt, or any other product they make.
You then use the product like you would as any other and report back your experience during the usage. At the end of the test, which normally lasts for a few weeks, you have to send the product back where the company will evaluate the product to see how it held up to wear and tear.
Tester Selection
Obviously, they have different tests for different products, and they choose testers based on the needs for each specific test and whether or not you belong to the intended demographic.
So no matter how tall/short you are, whether you are a man or a woman, you can participate in the program.
What’s in It for You?
Well, you get a free product to use for the duration of the test. Although in most cases you have to send the product back to the company after the testing period is over, in some cases they may let you keep the product, but there is no guarantee.
Besides that, I think if you like new products and enjoy seeing them before they even hit the market, you will appreciate the opportunity to try out some of the world’s greatest performance gear before it hits fields, courts, and gyms around the world. Furthermore, you’d be happy to know that your feedback will actually impact the final look, feel, and performance of the product.
How & Where to Apply for Under Armour’s Field Testing Program?
Click here to be directed to the sign up page, and sign up for the program. They will then contact you and let you know if you are approved to participate.
Of course, not everyone who signs up gets accepted, but it only takes a few seconds to join and its free. You’ve got nothing to lose.

The link for Under Armour wear testing is not a valid address,. How old is this post? do they still do outside wear testing programs?
Satrap
Craig, they’ve actually changed the name of the program from “wear testing” to “field testing” and there’s a new page to sign up. I’ve updated the post with the new sign up page.
Thanks for the heads up, Craig.
