What Does an App Tester Do?
App testing, like any other form of product testing, is a varied job. App developers want people to try out their apps during development, before they’re launched, and after they’re launched.
Developers want to make sure that their apps work well and provide a great user experience. So they will often hire testers, like you, to try out their apps to check how user-friendly they are, before they are released.
Your feedback is what’s important here. It’s the same reason why there are places where you can test products for amazon and get paid.

Some app developers simply want more eyes on their apps, so they will pay users just to install them, or in the case of gaming apps, play them through to a certain level.
There are lots of places that will pay you try out apps.
This could include:
- Simply installing an app on your phone. Then, after a certain amount of time you can delete the app from your device.
- Using an app while you’re being recorded and speak your thoughts on it aloud.
- Installing a game.
- Installing a gaming app and playing it through to a certain level.
- Installing an app, testing it out, and providing feedback in a short report or survey.
So, sometimes, it’s as simple as just downloading apps and sometimes it requires slightly more effort, and you’ll need to speak your thoughts aloud as you’re recorded during a test, and your feedback is sent to the developer.
Whatever the case, getting paid to try apps is really easy.
Sure, you won’t get rich from it, but if you are looking to make a little extra cash, then it’s certainly a good option.
