Introducing Checkout 51
Checkout 51 is a cashback app that saves you money on certain grocery purchases.
The app belongs to a Canadian company that is based in Toronto. Three entrepreneurs who have tremendous exposure in the advertising, media and technology space are behind the set up of checkout 51.
How It Works
To take advantage of Checkout 51, you need to be living in either the US or Canada.
It is a straightforward program…
What you need to do is to simply hit the Checkout 51 website and take note of the items on offer there, and decide which of these items you need in your grocery supply before you make a trip to the store.
After the purchase is done, you upload a picture of the receipt via the app or the website, as proof that you have purchased the featured items.
And thanks to your smartphone, it has never been easier to snap a picture of your receipt. You can also use a scanner to scan the receipt and later present the receipt to their website.
Every time you show proof of your shopping, you earn a certain amount of cash back. Once you have accumulated enough, you can ask to be paid.
How Do I Get Paid?
Checkout 51 is great in that it doesn’t have a high cash out threshold.

In fact, the payout threshold is set at a only $20.
At the time of writing, they are still not making use of PayPal. Currently, the only payment option is a check sent through the mail.
While some of you may prefer the high-tech mode of electronic payment, there is nothing more gratifying than a solid physical check for me.
What You Should Know
- No mandatory requirement of a smartphone. While there is the Checkout 51 app, you can choose not to use it, as the company has made possible for you to redeem the offers online.
- It doesn’t matter where you buy your stuff. You are able to make good of their offers regardless your choice of stores. So, if the items are featured by Checkout 51, you can make a redemption by uploading receipts from whatever stores you bought them from, unless the offer specifically states a certain store.
Offer Value
I want to stress that the offers at Checkout 51 are never fixed. They change the featured items every Thursday. Nevertheless, it is advisable that you recheck and verify the offers just before you send in your receipts.
Most cashback offers a rebate of around $1 per item. At this moment, there is an offer of $1 cash back for the purchase of any brand of milk.
Is It worth It?
Yes, to me it is!
I mentioned this in my recent post about 20 top money saving apps too.
If you are going to buy something anyway, you may as well go through a channel that gets you some of that spent money back.
So, I would recommend you sign up and give them a try. After all, we all buy groceries, we may as well get some sort of rebate or cash back from our purchases.
