What Do You Have to Do?

After you sign up and get accepted, you will be emailed when projects become available. They send out full details of the job, including how difficult they assess it to be, and when they want it done by.

You name the price you want to do the translation, and WeSubtitle will get back with you if they select you. Their selection is based not just on price, but also on scheduling requirements and on how well you have translated before.

Basically, you’ll be getting paid for watching TV series and movies, and providing subtitles which will be used by DramaFever for their range of programs online. You simply provide the translations and submit them.

How Hard Is It?

As long as you are proficient in either American English or Mexican Spanish, and can fully understand the original language, then you should be all right.

WeSubtitle wants to maintain its standards, so assesses all submitted work on three factors. These include

1. accuracy of translation
2. writing proficiency including spelling and punctuation
3. and cultural proficiency

This last one includes knowing and using the colloquialisms and slang used in everyday conversation, rather than simply providing a dictionary translation.

Your translation is scored, and provided you make 90% or better when averaging out the three factors the work is approved. If you don’t, then the work will be returned to you for editing and improvement before payment is made.

How to Get Started

If you want to get started, visit Wesubtitle.com to fill out an application. You have to first provide a Google ID and PayPal account. These are both necessary to work with WeSubtitle.

The company will first give you a multiple choice reading test, which will be scored. You have to achieve a sufficient score on the multiple choice test to progress to taking an audio translation exam. The audio translation is personally reviewed by the experts, who will get back to you within a week. If you fail the multiple choice, you can take it again after 90 days.

When you’re accepted, WeSubtitle will send you all the information you need to get started, together with a proficiency rating for your audio translation which gives you an access level for the projects.

As you work, you will improve your ratings to give you access to more challenging projects that pay more.

Getting Paid

WeSubtitle uses PayPal exclusively to pay its translators.

You don’t get paid until your projects are approved, but the money is sent out every couple of weeks.

Is It for You?

If you have a working knowledge of a foreign language, it seems this would be a pleasurable way of passing the time and getting paid for it.
