Getting a prescription transfer coupon or bonus is awesome.
Free cash just for transferring a prescription? It’s a win-win.
Why would you want to change which pharmacy fills your prescription drugs?
Because the exact same drug can cost more or less at another pharmacy (I know, it’s ridiculous!). So sometimes you can get prescription discounts just by switching to another pharmacy. Combine that with a few of these prescription discount cards and you could be looking at some serious savings.

Now, before we start, I will say that bonuses just for transferring prescriptions are few and far between these days.
In fact, a lot of these coupons online expire rather quickly. So, yes, just a little out of date!
Don’t worry though. Pharmacies are still providing awesome deals and bonuses when you fill prescriptions. Plus, most of the time, when a certain coupon or promo code expires, the pharmacy replaces it with another one. Often, you’ll find the new one on the same page where the old one existed. So if you’re reading this post a bit after its original published date, when you click on a link and notice the coupon has expired, be sure to either check the same page or just do a quick search on the website you are on for the new transfer coupon.

Current Prescription Transfer Coupons
Here are the best prescription transfer rebates you can get right now.
1. Rite Aid Prescription Transfer Coupon
- Bonus: Up to $100
If you want a bonus when you transfer a prescription, I would highly recommend going to Rite Aid.
It’s one of the few big pharmacies nowadays that’ll give you a bonus just for transferring a prescription.
Transfer up to four eligible prescriptions to Rite Aid, and you can earn up to $100 in Wellness+ BonusCash rewards. You get a $25 bonus per prescription!
2. Wegmans Prescription Transfer Coupon
- Bonus: Varies from state to state but can be up to $50!
At Wegmans, you can get lots of benefits when you transfer your prescription.
These bonuses vary from state to state.
Here are some examples:

- Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Massachusetts: New customers can bring their transferred or new prescriptions to a Wegmans Pharmacy and get up to $50 in free groceries. This is not applicable to locations that do not have a pharmacy.
- New York: Customers can get a free Meal on Us Market Café coupon that’s valued up to $8. New customers can get this when they chat with a Wegman’s pharmacist.
- New Jersey: New customers who are 60 years old or more can bring their transferred or new prescriptions to a Wegman’s pharmacy and get up to $50 in free groceries. Also, if you’re up to age 59, you can chat with a pharmacist and get a free Meal on Us Market Café coupon valued up to $8.00.
Keep in mind that offers vary by store location, because of state-established legal restrictions. So check with your local store to see what prescription transfer bonuses are available near you.
3. Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy
- Bonus: $30
Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy combines traditional pharmacy services with natural and complementary health solutions.
If you transfer your prescription to Pharmaca, you can get a $30 gift coupon to use in store.
4. CVS Prescription Transfer Coupon
- Bonus: $50
CVS doesn’t necessarily give you a bonus just for transferring your prescription. It does, however, reward you each time you fill a prescription.
With ExtraCare Pharmacy & Health Rewards, each fill earns you a credit. You can use these credits to get rewards. Fill and you can earn up to $50 in rewards.
5. Walgreens Prescription Transfer Coupon
- Bonus: $1 to $50
Walgreens used to offer a $25 gift card when you transferred your prescription to them. Sadly, the only such gift card offers I found expired in 2012 – so those are no good to you now.
Don’t worry though – there’s still a way to get a bonus for filling prescriptions at Walgreens.
For each prescription you fill, you can get 100 points through the Walgreens Balance Rewards program.
1,000 points is equal to $1!
You can earn up to 50,000 points per calendar year. 50,000 points is equal to $50.
6. Kmart Prescription Transfer Coupon
- Bonus: $5
Kmart once offered a prescription transfer bonus where you could get a $25 bonus. Sadly, these offers all expired back in 2010. You can still get rewarded for filling your prescriptions at Kmart though.
Members who fill 5 prescriptions can get a $5 bonus.
You get this bonus in the form of 5,000 Shop your Way Rewards points. You can use these points on future purchases.
7. Target Prescription Transfer Coupon
- Bonus: $5 to $50
Wondering if Target offers prescription transfer coupons?
While there are many ways to save money at Target, they don’t offer coupons just for transferring a prescription.
You can get a bonus for filling prescriptions though.
You’ll get a $5 Target coupon for filling 10 prescriptions. All you need to do is join the ExtraCare Pharmacy & Health Rewards program (the CVS one we mentioned above.)
Then just fill your prescriptions as you normally would.
After 10 fills, just visit a CVS location at Target and you’ll get your $5 Target coupon. It’s basically like getting a free Target gift card!
As part of the program, you earn credits.
Every 10 credits adds up to a free $5 Target coupon.
Here’s what you’ll earn:
- Fill or refill a prescription: 1 credit
- Enroll a family member: 1 credit
- Fill or refill a 90‐day prescription: 3 credits
- Add prescriptions to a CVS.com account: 3 credits
- Get a flu shot or vaccination from a CVS pharmacist: 3 credits
Each person who joins can earn up to $50 in free Target coupons each year.
Also, Target also runs deals that give you bonuses. For example, at the time of writing, you could get a $5 Target coupon with a free flu shot.
8. Safeway Prescription Transfer Coupon
- Bonus: Fuel rewards – 10 cents off per gallon or free groceries
Safeway doesn’t have a prescription transfer bonus. But it does offer pharmacy rewards through its Just for U program.
You can earn points on purchases that you can redeem for either 10 cents off per gallon of fuel or for free grocery items!
You earn 1 point for every $1 you spend at the pharmacy.
9. Kroger Prescription Transfer Coupon
- Bonus: Fuel rewards – 10 cents off per gallon
Kroger used to offer $25 credit on groceries and $50 cash bonus for prescription transfers a few years ago but the company doesn’t provide a coupon for transferring your prescription anymore. Instead, you will earn rewards for filling your prescription there though.
You will earn 1 fuel point for every $1 of your out-of-pocket costs for federally funded prescriptions. You can earn 150 fuel points for each 90-day script.
You can redeem up to 1,000 points for a $1 off per gallon of fuel.
Fuel points are redeemable in 100-point increments though up to 35 gallons of unleaded, mid-grade, premium, diesel or E85. You can redeem points at Shell locations as well. You can redeem 100 fuel points for 10 cents off per gallon at participating Shell locations.
Walmart Prescription Transfer Bonuses
Walmart doesn’t offer a bonus when you transfer a prescription. It doesn’t offer rewards for filling prescriptions either. That’s why it doesn’t appear on our list above. I just thought I’d mention that in case you were wanting to know if Walmart has prescription transfer bonuses in 2020.
While it doesn’t offer much in the way of deals or coupons, it does provide prescriptions for just $4. So it may be worth your time.
Also, you can use our tips for getting free Walmart gift cards to get free GCs and use them to save even more at Walmart!
Get Your Prescription Bonus!
There are some great offers available from pharmacies that can help you save money on your next prescription. So make sure that you take advantage of them!
Sure, there aren’t quite as many prescription transfer coupons and bonuses available as there used to be. There are still plenty of great savings to be had though.

This article needs to update it’s Safeway ($8) information. In Oregon, my local Safeway ad has this: “Up to $75 Off Groceries” for transferring a prescription. There are no details printed on the ad. Today is 23 Feb., 2022.

Thanks for the update Rosemari. I looked at their website and I couldn’t find any new info. It could be that they run different promotional offers in different areas which explains why you see ads for $75 off groceries in your local area.

The same deal is printed in a coupon at the end of my receipt here in Arizona. However, it excludes anyone funded by state or federal programs. That means that even with out-of-pocket expenses going up, Medicare recipients are not eligible for the transfer promotion or rewards program.

Some such offers can only be found in their apps in my experience in Arizona.
