LiveOps is a cloud call center company.
It is known as the “Uber of Call Centers.”

Did you know that sometimes the person you talk to doesn’t even work for the company you are calling?
They actually work with call center companies like LiveOps.
They basically act as customer service for companies during odd hours.
In this post, we’ll show you how you can make money as a work at home customer service agent with LiveOps.
Like any other company, there are a few requirements.
LiveOps is constantly looking for people who have great personalities.
Being friendly and understanding helps but you also need to have a true desire to help people.
People with backgrounds in the military, retail hospitality, and even insurance are shoe-ins for these positions.
The general requirements are:
- you must be 18 years or older
- you must be a legal resident of United States
Depending on what types of calls you choose to take, you may want to have a decent understanding of technology (which you will be using to begin with) and have the ability to critically think and problem solve on your own.
That’s not to say LiveOps won’t help you every step of the way but there are instances when you run into something new or need to talk to a customer in a way that is not the norm.
The technical requirements as far as what you need at home include:
- a phone that plugs in (landline or digital service)
- a headset that works with that phone
- a computer with high-speed internet access
It’s also a good idea to have a virus protection software enabled on your computer as well as a printer.
Needless to say, you need a quiet place to work so customers or you aren’t distracted
How to apply
The application process consists of a few steps.
To get started:
- Visit the Before You Apply page so you can get yourself familiar with the whole thing and all the requirements.
- From there click on the “Apply Now” tab and fill out the application.
- You will then be background and credit checked. It should take about two weeks for all this to take place.
Now, they do have a $60 application fee (more on that later) that will be due at the time you apply.
Once you become a worker for LiveOps you will have to undergo training. This training will be done at home and has recently been revamped.
The Skill Builder training program has been created to make it easier for employees to learn.
Rather than teaching their employees to read scripts (very generic), LiveOps is teaching their people to be problem solvers that can truly help the customer.
Each training module is managed by a facilitator so you will never be alone while training.
These facilitators will handle your account and give you the training you need for the job you will do.
Training is a mix between video watching, live feedback, and app content that is designed to help with retention and cut down on time watching pointless videos or listening to someone ramble on about things that don’t matter.
About the application fee
Now, if you have been a reader of MoneyPantry for some time, you know that when it comes to finding legitimate work at home jobs, one of the things I talk about often is the fact that most legit companies don’t charge you a registration fee.
Unfortunately, LiveOps does.
Now, that doesn’t mean this is a scam, far from it actually.
The reason they charge a $60 application fee is the high applicant rate. This fee allows them to filter out people who don’t qualify and/or aren’t really serious about the opportunity.
Normally, I would say stay away from any company that charges you a registration fee, but I make an exception for this one.
But before you pay the fee, please make sure you actually do meet the requirements and can do the job. You don’t want to pay $60 just to find out you don’t qualify.
Work at home positions with LiveOps
Once you have completed the application you will need to choose what type of calls you will want to take.
This decision will decide what company you will work for and what kind of training you need to do.
Type of calls include:
- Inbound sales: begins the sales process for a company or completes the sale from start to finish.
- Customer service: calls from customers of retailers, banks, and other companies with questions or with a specific task in mind.
- Insurance sales: you will need to be a licensed insurance agent.
- Insurance claims: taking calls for insurance companies from people that wish to claim something on their insurance.
- Technical support: help set up a computer or tasks like resetting passwords and setting up software.
- Roadside assistance: decipher what the emergency is and get the right service to their location.
- Healthcare: questions, comments, and concerns about medications or other medical services.
- Payroll support: helping employees submit their timecard or resolving payroll problems.
- Food Order taking: taking orders for take-out or pizza on busy nights (very high call volume).
The good part about all of this is the fact that you can pick your own hours.
All you have to do is update your availability and log on at those times.
You can choose to do hours at a time or work shifts as short as 30 minutes at a time.

Marketing is already done by the companies you work for so in most cases you won’t have to spend a lot of time explaining products or services.
Just like any other job, LiveOps does make sure that the people who work more hours and have a wider availability get the better accounts.
In other words, the more you work increases the chances of you getting a higher paying job.
Since you will be an independent contractor you will need to have a Tax ID Number and maintain your own equipment but you are always able to get another job should one come up. Also, vacations can be planned at your leisure for the most part.

Here’s a tip I picked up on Reddit while researching for this post…
If you want to make the most money, pick up overnight and odd hours shifts. It seems like working overnight can make you the most money as it is hard to find people to work those shifts.
When and how you get paid
You won’t be paid for training. Think of it as an opportunity for free knowledge that will eventually make you cash. Sometimes you have to spend it to earn it.
Once you start making calls as an Agent, all you need to do is turn in an invoice.
From that point, you will be paid twice monthly for your services.
How you are paid depends on what time of call you make.
You can either:
- get paid a flat rate for every call or minutes spent on a call (healthcare, food)
- get paid by commission (sales)
- or a combination of both.
There are also incentives based on performance so even if you aren’t receiving a bunch of calls, you may still be able to make money by giving great services.
The gist of it
This is a great opportunity for those of us who like to work from home.
The only issue I have with it is that $60 application fee which is totally understandable. Just make sure you read everything before you apply so you don’t waste $60 for something that you had no chance of getting in the first place.
Now, I think the best way to look at this is as a part-time job, a side hustle, a way to make extra money in your spare time.
And the best part is that you get to work from home.
- no cubicles
- no coworkers to compete against
- you set your own schedule
- and you get paid a decent wage.
You get real-world experience in customer service, sales, and even hospitality meaning any future applications, interviews, and jobs in these areas become easier.
The technology requirements are not over-the-top and mostly consist of things that most people already own. This means with a purchase or two you are ready to take calls.
