Here’s how it works: Some states have installed much more wind energy than required by law, for example, Texas. When this happens, the excess RECs are worthless. Arcadia buys the RECs and then tells you your energy is clean. It is not. Buying RECs does NOTHING to lower emissions. Buying excess RECs does not support clean energy. You are not supporting clean energy, you are just giving money to Arcadia to support their illusion,” said one Reddit user.
