These 10 sites will pay you up to $200 to write 'Top 10' lists

You know those “Top 10… Whatever” articles?

“Top 10 Ways to Make Money,” “Top 5 Freelancing Websites,” etc.?

Yes, those!

There are sites that pay you to write those lists.

If you want to make money writing articles online but hate the thought of crafting long, boring pieces, you might want to consider writing “Top 10” lists for these sites.

Write Listicles for Money

Here are some of the best sites that pay you to create list posts:

1. ListVerse

Listverse.com is renowned as one of the greatest repositories of information in this space.

They cover everything from mildly entertaining material to in-depth science and everything in between.

To get published, you need to create a list of 10 items, which can be about virtually any topic.

Make sure your list includes exactly 10 items; otherwise, it will not be considered.

Additionally, your list must contain 1,500 words or more. Submissions with fewer words will not be accepted.

2. Cracked

If you have a story to tell and can present it in a humorous way, Cracked is an excellent choice to earn money online.

However, the process isn’t as straightforward as it may seem.

First, you need to register on the platform. After that, you can pitch your ideas for lists and work to get them approved.

If you’re lucky, you can create a list that gets accepted and paid for.

With over 300 million monthly page views, Cracked is definitely worth a shot.

3. A List Apart

The content on this website is divided into three main categories:

  1. Mini-articles
  2. Articles
  3. Features

Be sure to review the exact requirements for submissions, as they may change from time to time.

Generally, here’s what they expect:

  • Feature articles: 1,500–2,500 words
  • Articles: 600–1,500 words
  • Mini-articles: 500–600 words

The site focuses heavily on topics related to web technologies, so content in this niche is highly appreciated.

4. WondersList

WondersList doesn’t limit the list to 10 items.

There is no standard topic here—they cover almost anything you can think of. This means you’re free to create lists about virtually any subject.

However, they expect articles to be more than 800 words. Unfortunately, the payment is only $5, which is, frankly, quite low.

That said, since this is a list of sites that pay you to write lists, I’m including any site that actually pays, regardless of the amount.

5. WhatCulture

I would describe WhatCulture.com as “infotainment”—a mix of information and entertainment.

Their content is mostly comprised of informative facts, presented in a humorous way.

If you can master this style of writing, the potential rewards are significant since compensation is based on the number of page views your article generates.

6. Sporteology

Update: It seems like this website/company no longer exists.

  • Typical payment you can expect: $7
  • Article submission page/form: https://sporteology.com/write-us/

As you might guess from the name, Sporteology focused on sports-related topics.

No matter whether you are into the NBA or NFL, if you can cite a series of statistics, your work will be valued.

No, they don’t expect you to be a sports pundit, but they do want you to ensure your facts are accurate.

Additionally, you can submit news articles on developments in any sport worldwide.

One of the standout features of this platform is its quick payment process—they send your payment within 24 hours of accepting your article.

7. Valnet Freelance

Valnet Freelance is a Canadian media company that connects writers with various content opportunities, including listicles.

As a freelance writer for Valnet, you can contribute listicles to popular websites within their network, such as Screen Rant and The Richest.

The pay varies depending on the website and the scope of the work.

8. KnowledgeNuts

Update: No longer in business!

  • Typical payment you can expect: $10
  • Article submission page/form: https://knowledgenuts.com/submit-a-nut/

In a strict sense, KnowledgeNuts should not be classified as a listing website. However, you can find stories of the most bizarre and controversial nature here.

They pay $10 for “obscure or little-known” facts.

That said, the acceptance rate is understandably low due to the niche nature of their content.

If you want to work with this website, make sure to do thorough research before submitting your article. Use your judgment to decide if the effort is worth it.

9. HistoryList

Update: They have stopped accepting submissions for now.

As the name suggests, HistoryList focuses on historical facts, not fictional or creative writing.

If you have a strong grasp of history, this could be a good way to earn some small but regular income.

To contribute, you’ll need to fit each historical event into a 70- to 200-word description. Articles typically include 5 to 20 events per submission.

10. TopFiveBuzz

TopFiveBuzz accepts listicles on various topics but offers a modest payment of $5 per article. While the pay is low, it’s a straightforward platform for beginners looking to build their writing portfolio.

TopFiveBuzz is an interesting platform that allows you to list 5 items in each post.

You’re not restricted to any particular subject, leaving room for your creativity to shine.

11. TopSixList

Update: This company is no longer in business.

  • Typical payment you can expect: Rs 400 (for Indian writers) or $7
  • Article submission page/form:
    http://www.topsixlist.com/write-and-get-paid/

TopSixList stood out as one of the most interesting websites I discovered in this niche. It overflowed with creative ideas, covering everything from straightforward topics to mythical tales and more.

They also welcomed picture lists, provided the images were high-resolution, captivating, and attention-grabbing.

Wrapping Up

There you have it—a list of websites that pay you to write articles, including listicles just like the one you’ve been reading!

Now it’s your turn—put your creativity to work, create lists, and get paid!

I’m not sure. But I’d say since it’s freelance work in a way, as long as you are submitting content they like, it wouldn’t matter to them where you live.

Their website still says they accept posts. So based on that I’d say yes. Now it could be that they might be busier than usual so it is taking them longer to respond. After a week or two, I’d send them another email.

Hey Mary, if you have tried the contact info you found online and have had no luck, you may want to reach out to somebody at the Dotdash Meredith Mediaroom company. They are the company that owns Eating Well magazine. You can use their contact page to ask them directly.

Also, have you tried reaching them via social media?
