Yes, Microsoft, in an effort to catch up to Google’s massive lead in the search market, will now reward you for using Bing instead.
All you have to do is register with BingRewards, and then every time you use Bing for a search you rack up points.
You get a regular email telling you how many points you have in your account, and you can redeem them for gift cards, such as Amazon cards.
2. Write a Few Jokes
While some websites like the Huff Post seem to be impossible to break into, others welcome written contributions from newcomers.
One of these is cracked.com, which is known for its entertaining articles. They pay you up to $100 for submitting jokes that they publish on the site.
The best way to approach this is to read through cracked.com to get an idea of what they want before you take the time to write your masterpiece. Then just try submitting your article, and see what they say.

3. Make Money with Swagbucks
Swagbucks is a great deal, because you can carry on doing what you normally do online and get paid for it.
Swagbucks are points, and just like the Bing incentive above, when you build up points you can earn gift cards, or even get cash back via PayPal.
The great thing with Swagbucks is the variety of things that they give you points for.

You can get paid for watching videos, filling out surveys, shopping online, performing online searches, and several other things.
Basically anything you can think of to pass the time can earn you points, making it true when you say “I’m working” when someone asks you what you’re doing watching a video.
4. Make a List
If you like to make lists, then maybe this task is the one for you.
Listverse.com will pay you for submitting a list to them that they publish.
It has to be at least 10 items, and at least 1500 words, and to have the best chance of being published should probably be about an offbeat topic.
If you know some facts that you don’t think others do and want to share them in this format, Listverse will pay you $100, which sounds well worth the effort.
5. Watch More TV
Bored?
Watch TV!
Well, not exactly watching, but showing your knowledge from watching it previously.
Just go to RewardTV.com and answer their simple questions on any of a range of TV shows.
You can do this alone, or even get some friends around and have a quiz night, trying to answer the trivia.
You won’t make a fortune with this, but you will have a lot of fun and possibly score a few extra dollars.
6. Make Some Beer Money with Reddit
Reddit has a section called “beermoney” where Redditors post the best (and worst) ideas for making a little bit of cash.
Just go to reddit.com/r/beermoney and start looking around.
Also check out the “Best Beer money Sites” and the top post of Most Common Beer Money Sites to get started.
7. Take Surveys for Extra Cash
One of the perennial favorites, you can make money filling out online surveys.
Make sure you go to reputable market research panels like SurveySavvy or Pinecone Research that actually pay you.
You don’t want to fall into the paid survey scam trap as there is no shortage of scam companies out there.
You can also find opportunities to try out products or services for rewards.
8. Take Pictures on Your Cell
Foap (photo app) your pictures, and collect royalties.
Install the Foap app on your smart phone, then upload any pictures you take to the marketplace.
Foap sells copies of your pictures for $10 and gives you five dollars.
This is every time a picture is sold, so you can earn again and again from the same shots.
As you might expect, there are thousands of pictures on the site, so to have the best chance of making sales you need to make sure that your shots are of excellent quality and perhaps unusual subjects. It doesn’t cost you anything to try it out.
9. Become a Turker
This freelancing site, Amazon Mechanical Turk, has been around for a while, and is going strong (as you’d expect it to since it’s backed by Amazon).
It specializes in micro-jobs, teaming up thousands of part-time workers with people who want casual jobs done.
It calls the jobs HITs – Human Intelligence Tasks – and lists small tasks that need people to do them, not computers.
The task include things like looking up phone numbers, typing out text from pictures, etc., and they pay only pennies, so the idea is you do a lot of them very quickly.
As they are only short, you can do them whenever you have a moment to spare.
10. Sell Your Talent on Fiverr
If you’re unfamiliar with Fiverr, it’s a job website where each basic task pays $5.
The best way to find out what sort of tasks can be done for five dollars is to go to the website and browse. It might be a short creative task, or perhaps writing a contract or doing a voiceover.
Jobs are not limited to $5, as clients can buy extras that increase the cost.
Takeaway
With these 10 ideas, I’ve only just scratched the surface of what you can do if you want to earn some extra cash with your computer and spare time.
But now there’s no excuse for you complaining that you’re bored and not doing something useful with your time.
