“Is Hey Piggy legit?” That’s the first question that popped into my head when I first saw somebody mention HeyPiggy’s “piggy bank game” on a Reddit thread.
So, as I have been doing since the birth of MoneyPantry in 2013, when I hear about new survey apps or websites, I installed the app to give it a test run.
I downloaded HeyPiggy about a month ago. After 30 days of daily use, here are my results that will show you everything you need to know about whether HeyPiggy is worth your time in 2025.

So companies use market research companies like HeyPiggy to conduct surveys on their behalf.
Now, the company behind HeyPiggy is a German market research firm called Splendid Research, which has been around since 2008.
That long lifespan is a great sign of its legitimacy. Scammy survey sites don’t last long. So the fact that the company behind HeyPiggy has been around for 15+ years means it’s legit.
How Does HeyPiggy Work?
Here’s how you make money on HeyPiggy:
Taking Surveys
Obviously, each survey will be about a different topic and will vary in length.
So you can expect to get questions about everything from your shopping habits to what you think about new TV commercials.
Most surveys pay between $0.50 and $3.00 and take 5–20 minutes to complete.
Playing the Piggy Bank Game
This is HeyPiggy’s unique feature, which I personally love. I have been getting paid for surveys since 2007 (ish). And I have been a member of almost every survey panel you can name, but I don’t remember any that had a cool feature like this.
So what is the Piggy Bank game?
Basically, it’s a little game you play after completing each survey to earn a bonus on top of what you are paid for the actual survey.
Advertisements
How much?
Anywhere from $0.10 to $0.50.
It’s not much, but considering that many surveys on even legit survey sites pay less than $1, getting that extra 50 cents on top of the actual payout for the survey is fantastic.
I mean, it’s free money, and it takes a few seconds to do it, so why not!
Profile Surveys
If you like taking surveys for money, you know that most survey sites and apps have this. They pay you to fill out different parts of your profile like age, income, interests, etc.
These don’t pay much, but they are easy and quick to do. Plus, they use your profile info to match you up with surveys later, so it’s a win-win.
Now, for every survey, you earn points (I know, I like straight cash too, but you can convert your points to cash when cashing out anyway).
Every 100 points is $1. So if you complete a 200-point survey, you just earned $2.
Green Badge!
Here’s another thing that makes HeyPiggy a bit different than similar survey apps.
Green Badge!
Basically, if you complete your profile surveys and stay active, you’ll get a green badge next to your name.
This supposedly gets you access to more surveys, though I’m not totally convinced it makes a huge difference.
As for the actual interface, compared to a lot of other similar apps that are clunky and kind of not user-friendly, HeyPiggy is actually pretty clean and easy to navigate.
Your point balance is right at the top, available surveys are clearly listed, and the piggy bank game button is easy to find. No confusing menus or buried features.
I like any app (surveys or not) that makes it easy for the user to use the damn app, lol.
Levels
HeyPiggy has another cool little feature where you level up as you do more. Each level higher gets you a bit more money.
Here are the levels:
- Level 0: We all start from here.
- Level 1: You get a 10% bonus on your earnings for one hour.
- Level 2: You get a 10% bonus on your earnings for two hours.
- Level 3: You’ll get a fixed bonus of $0.10 added to your earnings.
- Level 4: You’ll get a 10% bonus on your earnings for four hours.
- Level 5: You’ll get an extra $0.20 bonus.
By the way, you don’t need to do anything extra to level up. You just keep taking surveys and you’ll automatically level up.
Getting Started
Signing up for HeyPiggy is pretty quick and easy.
Here’s how:
- Step 1: Download the HeyPiggy app (iOS – Android) or go to their official website at https://www.heypiggy.com.
- Step 2: Sign up with your email (you can also use your Google, Apple or Facebook account to register).
- Step 3: Fill out your profile surveys.
- Step 4: Start taking surveys and earning cash.
That step 3 is very important!
Here’s why…
From being in the online surveys space for more than a decade, I know a lot of people don’t fill out their profile surveys because each one pays only 10 or 20 cents usually.
But as I said earlier, completing your profile actually helps you get matched up with more and hopefully better paying surveys later.
And if you noticed, one of the biggest companies people usually have with survey sites is that they go halfway through a survey, then all of a sudden, they get disqualified. Doing your profile surveys helps you avoid all those time wasting disqualifications that we all hate. So don’t skip them!
It took me about 30 minutes or so to fill out my profile surveys. I made a little over $2. I know, it’s not a lot but I would do them whenever I had a few minutes free (waiting in the grocery checkout line, waiting for my air fryer to finish cooking my dinner, seriously!)
Pro tip: Be honest but strategic with your answers. If you say you never shop online or don’t have any hobbies, you’re going to get way fewer survey opportunities. Companies want to hear from people who actually buy stuff and have opinions. This tip applies to any survey site or app you use, not just this one!
How Much Can You Actually Earn with HeyPiggy?
Ok, before I give you what I think (based on my own personal experience and reading reviews of HeyPiggy by other users, mostly on Reddit), let me give you my numbers during my 30 day test run.
My 30-day results using HeyPiggy
- Total earned: $34.50
- Surveys completed: 28
- Days I used the app: 26 out of 30
- Biggest single survey: $4.25 (took 18 minutes)
- Smallest survey: $0.35 (took 3 minutes)
That comes down to about $1.15 per day when I actually used the app. Not bad for something I mostly did while watching TV or waiting in line somewhere.
I know, making just under $35 for a whole month sounds really bad, but keep in mind that I was only using it in my spare time. It’s not like I worked for the company for 30 days and got paid $34.50, lol.
So how much YOU can earn, realistically?
HeyPiggy’s own website claims people can make up to $200 a month with the app.
While I don’t doubt that a few people with the right profiles (that match really high paying surveys) could possibly make $200 a month with it, for most of us, that is an unrealistic number.
The piggy bank game added maybe $3-4 to my total earnings over the month. Which again isn’t a lot but for the time nd effort it takes to tap that piggy bank, it’s 100% worth it.
Based on personal experience, I would say that based on how much time and effort you put into it, you could make anywhere from $10 to $70 a month.
- Casual users (10-15 min a day): You’re looking at $10-20 per month. Maybe you check the app once a day, do a quick survey if there’s a good one available. This is perfect for people who just want beer money.
- Regular users (30-45 min a day): This is where I landed. You can probably hit $25-40 per month if you’re consistent. You’ll complete 3-5 surveys per week and remember to play the piggy bank game most days.
- Power users (1+ hours per day): The most dedicated users might reach $50-75 per month, but you’re really working for it at that point. You’d need to qualify for a lot of surveys and spend significant time on the app.
The HeyPiggy Piggy Bank Game: Scam or Genuine Bonus?
I explained earlier in this review how it works. But basically after you complete a survey, you can play a game where you tap a cartoon piggy bank. Each tap gives you a few bonus points, and you can keep tapping until the pig “breaks” (which happens randomly after 5-15 taps).
The whole thing takes maybe 30 seconds. You’re not solving puzzles or playing anything complicated. It’s literally just tapping a pig on your screen.
My experience with it: Over 30 days, I earned about $3.40 from the piggy bank game. That’s about $0.11 per day.
The payouts are pretty small. Most of the time, you’ll get 5-15 bonus points (worth $0.05-$0.15). Sometimes you’ll hit a “jackpot” and get 50+ points, but that only happened to me three times in a month.
Overall, I’d say why not! If you already took the survey, you may as well tap a button and get a few more cents.
Think of it like getting a few cents bonus for finishing a survey.
How Does HeyPiggy Pay?
Ok, this is the most important part. We all do this to make some extra cash.
So can you actually get your money out of HeyPiggy, or do they make it impossible like some sketchy apps?
Well, the good news is HeyPiggy has one of the lowest minimum payouts I’ve seen. You only need $1 (100 points) to cash out via PayPal.
That’s way better than apps that make you wait until you hit $25 or $50.
Your payout options:
- PayPal: $1 minimum
- Venmo: $5
- Gift cards: $1 minimum
- Direct bank transfer: $10 minimum, only available in some countries
Note: The minimum PayPal cashout used to be $1 for some users, but now it may show $5 depending on your account, region, or activity level. Always double-check in your own app.
I generally use PayPal to cash out since it’s instant and I can use it almost everywhere to pay for things.
Now the website claims “< 30 min till payout delivered” which is basically instant.
My first PayPal cash out was fast but it wasn’t instant. I made my first withdrawal when I hit $5.20. The money was in my account the next day. And to be honest, 24 or so is standard. It’s not like they have somebody sitting there constantly just sending people their payments. They probably use a system where they process payments once a day. So maybe yours will be instant because that’s the time they process that day’s payments.
Either way, as long as you receive your payment in under 24 hours or so, I’m good with that.
The Good, The Bad, and The Frustrating
After 30 days of daily use, here’s my brutally honest take on what works and what doesn’t with HeyPiggy.
The Good:
- $1 minimum payout keeps you motivated
- Clean, simple interface
- Fast PayPal payments (2-3 days)
- Decent survey variety
The Bad:
- Limited earning potential compared to bigger apps
- Only surveys + pig game (no cashback, videos, etc.)
- Not available worldwide
The Frustrating:
- Inconsistent survey availability
- App crashes occasionally
- Minimal customer service
HeyPiggy Ratings and Reviews
As always, to get the full picture, I checked the rating and reviews by other users.
Here’s what I found.
On Google Play, HeyPiggy has a 4.5-star rating and over 500,000 downloads, while the App Store shows 4.4 stars.
It also has a 4-star rating from 13,450 reviews on Trustpilot.
I also read some reviews on Reddit that were generally positive.
“HeyPiggy actually pays, and the piggy bank game is a nice bonus. I’ve cashed out a couple of times with no issues.”
“I was skeptical at first, but after a month, I’m making steady extra cash. The surveys aren’t always quick, but the app’s easy to navigate.”
“Not the fastest survey app, but definitely one of the more reliable ones. Plus, the green badge thing seems to help get better surveys.”
But like any other app or website, it had some negative reviews too. Mostly complaints about disqualifications and the occasional slow survey day, but that’s pretty standard.
Overall, people like it and count it as a “legit” survey app.

Is HeyPiggy Available in Your Country?
I know a lot of MoneyPantry readers live in other countries besides the U.S.. And from experience, I know most survey sites and apps don’t accept international users.
Unfortunately, HeyPiggy is the same and isn’t available everywhere.
Since it’s run by a German company, they focus mainly on certain countries.
- Full access: US, Canada, UK, Germany, Australia
- Limited access: Most of Western Europe (fewer surveys available)
- Not available: Asia, Africa, South America, Middle East
If you’re outside the US, Canada, UK, Australia, or Western Europe, your survey app options are pretty limited.
Most market research companies focus on wealthy countries, which does make sense. The companies that pay them to conduct surveys on their behalf have most of their customers in those few countries, so why would they pay for data from survey takers who can’t even buy their products or services?
I know it’s frustrating, but thankfully there are a few legit international survey sites out there, like:
- Toluna: Works in way more countries than HeyPiggy
- YouGov: Available globally and focuses on opinion polls
- LifePoints: Good international coverage, similar to HeyPiggy’s model
Also, don’t use VPNs. I know it’s tempting but most sites, including HeyPiggy will ask for phone verification and will catch location mismatches. So you end up wasting hours accumulating points but you won’t get paid!
Frequently Asked Questions
How much money can I make with HeyPiggy?
It depends on how much time and effort you put into it. Most people can earn $25–$40 per month.
What’s the minimum cash-out amount?
Just $1. That’s one of the lowest minimum payout thresholds around. You can cash out via PayPal as soon as you hit 100 points.
Does HeyPiggy really pay?
Yes, it does. I personally cashed out three times during my 30-day test, and the money showed up in my PayPal within 2–3 days each time.
Do I have to pay taxes on my HeyPiggy earnings?
If you earn more than $600 from HeyPiggy in a year, they’ll send you a 1099 form. But even if you make less, you’re technically supposed to report it on your taxes. Better safe than sorry.
Is HeyPiggy safe?
HeyPiggy is a safe and legitimate survey app owned by a German company with 4+ star ratings from over 13,000 users.
My Final Verdict: Is HeyPiggy Worth It?
After 30 days of daily testing, here’s my honest take:
HeyPiggy is a solid but not spectacular survey app that’s perfect for certain types of users.
Yes, if you’re:
- New to survey apps (that $1 payout is perfect for beginners)
- Want simple, reliable side income ($25-40/month)
- Value clean interfaces over complex features
- In the US, Canada, UK, Australia, or Germany
No, if you’re:
- Looking for maximum earnings (Swagbucks pays more)
- Outside supported countries
- Easily frustrated by survey disqualifications
- Already using 3+ money-making apps
The bottom line is that yes, I’d recommend HeyPiggy to most people, with realistic expectations.
It’s a legit survey app for making beer money. To make it better, pair it with a bigger app like Swagbucks so you can earn more.
