Wikimedia Commons offers a ton of public domain images. You can find tons of different images on there, but I think it’s best if you’re looking for artwork.
My husband is an artist and he always tells me that Wikimedia Commons is one of the best places to source high quality artwork because the file sizes are huge, so you can get some great quality photos.
If you’re looking for copies of well-known artworks, then it’s definitely the site for you. It features work from artists, like Leonardo da Vinci, William-Adolphe Bouguereau, and Van Gogh.
Since there are so many images on the site, and the categories aren’t that easy to browse through, I would recommend typing in what it is you’re looking for into the search bar.
For example, if you’re looking for art from Leonardo da Vinci, then enter his name into the search bar. Or, if you’re looking for images of the forest, then type in the word “forest” into the search bar. You can find the search bar on the top right of the site.

An Overlooked Place to Find Free Wall Art to Print
One of the best places to find quality high resolution wall art and posters to print for free is Reddit, specifically subreddits dedicated to the topic.
There are a few subreddits where members find and share really high quality art that you can either print at home or send straight to your local print shop so they can print for you in whatever size you like.
- Two places include:
- r/MaleLivingSpace: A subreddit dedicated to helping men decorate their living spaces. Members often share high quality printable art ready to be hang on the wall.
- /r/PrintableHighRes: As the name suggest, users share high resolution art you can print for free.
I’d subscribe to these subreddits (it’s always free) so you can get notified when somebody shares a new art you might be interested in printing and hanging on your wall.
Ready to Hang on the Wall!
I like wall art because it really can brighten up a blank wall and really fill-in space in your home. The best part about it is that it’s so cheap! It gives you a way to decorate your home without having to spend much money. All you need is a printer, some paper, and a frame if you choose, and you’re set!
So, give these free wall art printables a try.
Oh, and if you’re looking for wallpaper to spruce up your room to make your wall art look even better on your walls, check out our post with a list of places that send you free wallpaper samples by mail.
