Need a new charger for your phone?
We spend an average of three hours and 15 minutes on our phones every day, so most of us probably have to charge our phones multiple times a day. Charging cables can break leaving you with no way to keep your phone’s battery going.
Perhaps you’re trying to save money though and just don’t want to have to pay for one?
In that case, you might be wondering if there’s a way to get a wired or wireless phone charger for free.

So can you get a free phone charger?
In this post, I’ll cover ways you can get a charger at no cost and give you tips on where you can buy one at an affordable price.
So let’s get started!
Ways to Get a Free Phone Charger
Here are some simple tips for getting a complimentary charger for your iPhone or Android phone…
1. Check out these websites for free phone chargers
One of the best tips I can give you for getting a charging cable at no cost is to simplly sign up for some freebie websites. These websites gather deals from around the internet and put them all in one place. Basically, they save you the time of scouring the internet yourself for freebies.
Here are some sites to check:
2. Check on Craigslist
People giveaway tons of free stuff on Craigslist. You can find pretty much anything you want on CL. I’d recommend checking your city’s “Free” section to see if there’s anyone giving away a charger near you.
The “Free” section can be found under the “For Sale” section of your city’s CL.
- Find a phone charger on Craigslist here.
3. Request a free phone charger on Freecycle
Freecycle is a website where people can give away things and get stuff for free. It could be worth checking on there to see if anyone in your neighborhood is giving away an Android or iPhone charger.
You could consider requesting one on there too.
- Join Freecycle here.
4. Browse Facebook Marketplace
You may be able to find someone giving away a charger near you on Facebook Marketplace. While the platform is designed for buying and selling stuff, there’s actually a section for free stuff on there.
- Browse Facebook Marketplace here.
5. Use coupon and deal sites
On deals websites and coupon websites you can find all sorts of savings.
Here are some websites I’d recommend checking out before you purchase a phone charger:
On these websites you can find:
- Promo codes
- Cashback offers
- And much more!
That’s why I’d highly recommend checking those sites before you purchase a phone charger. Sure, the deals found on these sites might not necessarily get you a charger for free, but they can at least get you a huge discount!
6. Consider using rewards site to earn some extra cash
If you’re trying to save money, consider signing up for one of these sites:
These websites give you points for doing tasks like:
- Playing games
- Watching videos
- Shopping online
- Reading emails
- Taking surveys
- Completing offers
- Browsing the internet
You can exchange your points for gift cards that you can use to get a free phone charger. Or for cash right for your PayPal account. There are gift cards available for places like Amazon and Walmart.
Either way, you can use your earnings to get a phone charger for your iPhone or Android phone, without spending a penny!
7. Get cashback and use it to get a charger at no cost
Cashback websites and apps give you money when you shop online or in store.
Here are some great apps and websites for rebates:
Some sites you just shop as you normally would, like with Rakuten. For others like Ibotta, you will have to upload a photo of your receipt to get the rebate.
Other Possible Ways to Score Phone Chargers for Free
Here are a few other tips that depending on where you live and other factors might work.
Ask your phone provider: Asking your mobile carrier (Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, AT&T, Sprint, etc.) for a free charger to replace your lost, stolen or broken one is an easy way to get one. Even if it doesn’t work and they say no, you don’t lose anything but a few minutes of your time.
Ask hotels: Apparently a lot of hotel guests forget their chargers on their stays. Next time you are at a hotel, ask the front desk!
You can also try Airport Lost & Found: Now, this may be a little unethical if you haven’t actually lost your chargers at an airport or hotel, but according to reports, most of those lost or left behind chargers go unclaimed so they are thrown away anyway!
Where to Get Cheap Phone Chargers
We already spend a lot of money on cell phone plans (Psst! tired of paying too much for your plan? Try these cheap cell phone plans!), the actual phone itself ($1000 phones! That’s just crazy!), apps and all the other phone accessories. So if for some reason you can’t get a charger for free, let’s try to at least save you some money by finding a quality inexpensive phone charger.
If you’re looking to save money on a charging cable, consider purchasing it from one of these retailers:
All of the above offer them at reasonable prices.
Without a phone charger, your smartphone is practically useless, especially with how quickly phone apps drain your cellphone battery. So you have to have it, but that doesn’t mean you have to empty your wallet. Phone manufacturers and networks already make us pay way too much for our phones. Lets at least save some cash where and when we can. Give these options a try.
