An estimated 45 million people throughout the U.S. wear contact lenses, according to the CDC.
Now, unlike eyeglasses that can have a high one time cost (by the way, if you’re shopping for eyeglasses, we have a post on where to buy cheap glasses), contacts usually aren’t that expensive but you can’t keep using the same one for long.
My husband wears contact lenses on a daily basis and while they may not be expensive as a one-off payment, buying them for daily use can get pricey. So he has to spend quite bit of money every year to buy contacts. However, we have found some simple tricks for getting free contact lenses, and today, I’m going to share them with you.
I’ll cover some places that give you contacts at no cost and a few simple tips and tricks you can use to get them for free!
Let’s get started on the list.

Other Ways to Get Contact Lenses for Free or Cheap
Here are a few tips you can use to get your contacts at no cost:
13. Get contact lens samples from your eye doctor
An easy way to get a free pair of lenses is to simply ask your eye doctor. Next time you have an eye exam, just ask if there are any samples that you can test out. Many places offer a free trial, so check with local eye doctors to see if any of them offer these kinds of promotions.
14. Contact Contact Lens Brands Directly
There are companies that send you free samples of their products if you just ask them. You could contact brands that make contact lenses and ask if they have any sample lenses that they would be willing to mail out to you.
Even if you can’t find a promotion online from that manufacturer, it doesn’t mean that the brand won’t give out free contacts. Just get in touch, and make sure you have your prescription ready to send to them as well!
15. Use rewards site to get free contacts
Rewards websites will give you points for doing really simple tasks that include:
- Playing games
- Watching videos
- Shopping online
- Reading emails
- Taking surveys
- Completing offers
- Browsing the internet
Then, you can exchange your points for money right to your PayPal account or for gift cards to retailers that sell contacts, such as Walmart.
Now, you could use this cash or gift card to get your contact lenses for free!

Closing Thoughts
With so many generous brands out there like Acuvue offering complimentary contacts, you won’t have to spend money on your next pair. I would highly recommend giving those places a try, and those free trial offers from subscription services are good too. Just don’t forget to cancel your subscription before you’re charged!
