Is it worth it though?

What is the ThredUp Rescue Box?
The ThredUp Rescue Box is a box that contains items that don’t meet the site’s high quality standards due to things like cosmetic defects, missing labels, tags, or hardware, or because they need to be cleaned or mended. These items have flaws, but they’re heavily discounted.
The ThredUp Rescue Box is offered by ThredUP. ThredUp is an online consignment store and thrift store where people can buy and sell used clothing. People can get up to 90% off items on the site. It was launched in 2009.

Is the ThredUp Rescue Box Legit?
ThredUp Rescue Box is legit. With it, you can order boxes that are filled with clothing, shoes, fabrics, and more, for a hugely discounted price. ThredUp is a well-known and popular online consignment store and thrift store, so its Rescue Box is definitely legit.
It’s a great way to get items that you can flip for a profit, and it’s also great if you are looking for materials for upcycling and DIY projects.
And, it’s also a good way to find clothes and handbags to add to your wardrobe at a low price.
However, the downside to the ThredUp Rescue Box is that you just don’t know what you’re going to get. Sometimes you can get stuff you could actually repurpose or resell, and other times you’ll get a bunch of low-quality stuff you have no use for.
Many people have expressed this concern on Reddit.
In this Reddit thread, one user says:
- “Rescue boxes are a crapshoot, because well, they’re rescues. They MAY be stuff that simply didn’t sell and was donated, or they may have issues. Which is why some people will get better boxes than others. You really are just taking a chance with ordering them, IMO. I did a few rescue designer purse boxes, and while they were decent, they weren’t spectacular, and I really barely just broke even. I actually did better sending back a number of items I got in them in my own clean out boxes!”
Some people have success with the boxes though. In this Reddit thread, one user says:
- “Honestly, it can be a bit of a gamble but I’ve purchased several rescue boxes of varying kinds (women’s clothing, men’s clothing, Rent the Runway, jewelry, shoes, handbags) and I’ve always made a profit. I can at least comfortably double my money, and sometimes profit way more than that. But there are usually at least 1-2 really good pieces that will make you your money back, so it will likely be worth it if you really want to try it out. I only buy a box every few months or so but it is really fun, and you never know what they’ll throw in there! Good luck if you do end up buying one!”

Cons
Here are the cons of the ThredUp Rescue Box:
- You don’t know what the box is going to contain. So, you could end up with lots of quality items, or a bunch of stuff you have no use for.
- Rescue Box orders are final sale, non-refundable, and non-returnable. So, if you receive items you don’t want, then you won’t be able to return them.
Overall Verdict
Overall, the ThredUp Rescue Box can be a good way to source products and materials for reselling, upcycling, and DIY projects. However, you don’t know what the box is going to contain.
So, it’s a bit of a gamble. You could end up with a bunch of stuff that’s really useful for DIY projects or stuff that you could resell for a profit, or you could end up with stuff you don’t have a use for.
If you don’t mind taking a gamble, then the ThredUp Rescue Box could be for you. Many people have success with these boxes. But, if you don’t want to know what you’re getting, then it could be worth trying your local thrift store instead.
Hopefully this ThredUp Rescue Box Review will help you to decide whether or not to order a box.
