Doing micro-tasks online can be a great way to earn some extra cash. The tasks are short, meaning that you can easily do a few of them in your downtime or on the side of your regular gig to make a bit of extra money.
Also, the tasks that these sites usually offer are generally pretty easy to complete.
So, really, anyone can get started with doing micro-tasks online. One site that pays you for doing short tasks is SproutGigs.
This used to be called Picoworkers, so if you’ve been searching for that site and have wondered where it’s gone, then be aware that the site has now changed its name.
So, for the rest of the review, I will be calling Picoworkers, SproutGigs, because that’s its name now. Okay, now the name change explanation is out of the way, let’s get onto the review!

What is SproutGigs?
SproutGigs (formerly Picoworkers) is an online marketplace that connects businesses and freelancers to complete small tasks.
Simply sign up for an account on the site, and then you can get paid to complete small tasks and gigs.
This could include things like up-voting Reddit posts, clicking hyperlinks, data entry, or cover letting writing. So, it’s a site where you can complete small tasks and also gigs like you would on sites like Fiverr.
How Does SproutGigs Work?
Here’s a quick guide to how Sprougigs works:
The first step is to sign up. You can sign up for the site for free. Simply head on over to SproutGigs.com and click on “Sign Up.”
Then, you’ll need to fill in a few details about yourself, such as your name, email address, and country. Make sure that the “I’m a worker” box is checked at the bottom.
Complete jobs
Once you’ve signed up for the site, you’ll be able to complete a variety of small jobs.
Some of the job categories on the site include:
- Digital marketing
- Digital writing
- Graphic design
- Presentation
- Photo & video
- Mobile apps
- Web development
- SEO
When you become a member of SproutGigs, you can log in to the member dashboard, and view all the micro-jobs that are available on the site.
Basically, these are small tasks that you complete in exchange for a small amount of money.
Advertisements
When you view jobs on the site, you’ll be able to view the amount you’ll earn for completing the job.
If it says “INT” next to the job, then it means that this job is international, and you can complete it no matter what country you live in.
In order to complete a job and get paid, you must submit proof that you’ve completed it.
It’s important to read the job description and the details of what proof is required before you accept the job. You’ll be able to see what type of proof is needed for you to complete a job and get paid.
When submitting proof, only submit what is asked for. If you don’t submit proof, and if the person who posted the job does not approve the proof on the job that you did, then you don’t get paid. So be sure to read the proof requirements properly and adhere to them if you want to get paid.
Refer others to the site
Aside from completing jobs, you can also get paid for referring other people to SproutGigs.
You can refer a friend to the site using a referral link. Then, you can earn 5% for each successful job completed by your referral. You can also earn 5% for referring people who post jobs and hire freelancers, like business owners, to the platform.
You can get commission payments directly to your balance. And, you can get an unlimited number of referrals.
Get paid
Once you have completed a job on the site, the money will be credited to your account. So, basically, every job you complete on the site will earn you a certain amount of money, which will be credited to your account.
You need to have $5 in your account in order to cash out your earnings.
Payment options on SproutGigs include:
- PayPal
- Cryptocurrency (These can vary but are often Ethereum and Litecoin)
- AirTM
- Uphold
- Skrill
SproutGigs charges a processing fee, which is deducted from your earnings. This processing fee is 7%, 8%, or 10% depending on the payment option you use to withdraw your earnings.
Regardless of the payment method that you choose, you will need to have at least $5 in your SproutGigs wallet to withdraw your earnings. Also, and I found this a bit of a weird aspect of the site, your Submit Tasks Interval timer must be 0 seconds. You can find the interval timer next to the Earning and Pending amount.
Basically, new users must complete a minimum amount of tasks to achieve a zero task interval. For example, if your starting interval time is 180, then you will have to complete 18 tasks successfully to reduce it to the zero level.
As a new user, you also must wait for at least 7 days before you can withdraw your first earnings.
Withdrawals are processed within 10 business days.
How Much Money Can You Make on SproutGigs?
Micro-tasks on SproutGigs usually pay $0.30 to $2. So, you’re not earning a ton of money. However, these are only short tasks, so it makes sense you’d only earn a few cents or dollars for completing them.
You can also earn money by referring people to the platform provided that they complete jobs or hire freelancers. The amount you earn depends on the number of people you refer.
Is SproutGigs Legit?
SproutGigs is sort of a mixed bag. Some users say the site offers them an easy way to make money online. Others complain that SproutGigs doesn’t pay out. That’s a concern for a site that’s supposed to pay you, right?
The reviews of SproutGigs online are mixed.
On Trustpilot, SproutGigs has just 3.1 stars, which is a rating of “Average.”
At the top of the company’s Trustpilot page, it says, “We’ve detected a number of fake reviews for this company and we’ve removed them.” So, that’s a concern.
On Sitejabber, SproutGigs has a rating of 3.4 stars.
The site also has many negative threads about it on Reddit, like this thread.
SproutGigs Pros and Cons
In this section, I’ll cover the pros and cons of SproutGigs so that you can decide whether or not the website is for you.
Pros
Here are the pros of SproutGigs:
- Tasks are available in lots of different categories.
- Low payout threshold of just $5.
- Lots of payment options available, including PayPal.
Cons
Here are the cons of the site:
- The site charges a processing fee on earnings, which can be up to 10%
- Tasks only pay a small amount, although this is typical of micro-task sites.
- There’s not much information available for freelancers on the site’s homepage. Before you sign up, most of the information you see on the site is aimed at businesses who’re hiring freelancers, rather than the freelancers themselves.
- Many negative user reviews out there where users complain that SproutGigs didn’t pay them.
- There’s little information available about who actually owns and operates the site. Although there is an address for the company on the site’s “Contact” page.
Overall Verdict
Overall, it seems as though Picoworkers, or Sprougigs as it’s now called, is a bit hit and miss. Some users have a good experience and say the site allows them to earn a little extra money online. Others though say that the site doesn’t pay out.
I think that you’d be better off using sites like:
