There are lots of games you can play to make money, but none is as fun and exciting as Monopoly.
Not to mention, there is big money to be made here – $20,580 big! – that’s how much the winner of last national Monopoly tournament won.
If you think you have got what it takes to “build” an extra source of income playing this classic board game, here are three ways you can get going:

2. National Monopoly Championship Tournament
Now, if you want to make big money, national Monopoly tournaments are where you want to be.
Although Monopoly is nothing like Soccer, the National Monopoly Championship is held every four years, much like the soccer world cup.
Washington D.C. hosted the last tournament in 2009, which means the next one was supposed to be in 2013. But for some reason, there was no event in 2013.
In order to qualify for the 2003 Championship (first ever to be held online), you had to be one of the 50 people who completed an online quiz. But this process was changed later.
In 2009, to qualify you had to pass an online multiple-choice quiz (with a score of 80% or more); a five-question essay test, as well as a two-game online tournament at Pogo.com. 24 People are chosen to compete.
When the tournament starts, players are divided into a few groups where they have to play a standard Monopoly game for 90 minutes or so. When the buzzer goes off, the player with the most cash and assets advances to the next level which is the final level where they compete for the prize.
3. The World Championship Tournament
The ultimate way of making money as a Monopoly player is to compete in the World Championship.
For that, you have to be winner of US (or any other country you participated in) National Monopoly Championship.

Now, the amount of money you win here is the same as the US National Championship – $20,580 USD – but winning the world championship has its benefits besides the bragging rights (advertising deals, etc).
Update: The next Monopoly World Championship will be held on September 7-9, 2015 at the Venetian in Macau, China.
You can get updates about the upcoming tournament (both national and world championship) on Hasbro’s official Monopoly website.
