Why does Dollar General have penny items & what are they?
Dollar General Penny shopping is something done exclusively at Dollar General. Dollar General Penny Items are items that have gone beyond clearance price. This means they have already gone the lowest they are supposed to go (90% off) and are supposed to be removed from the shelves.
If an employee forgot to remove the item, then the price will become one penny. Then, customers can purchase them for this extremely low price.

Well, it’s because penny items aren’t priced the way you normally expect. Most Dollar Generals will keep their penny items unmarked because they don’t want people just waiting for all their stock to be priced at a nearly free price.
This app is useful for those who are just getting started in penny shopping. Users from all over the United States upload their penny finds so that others will know what to look out for. There are over three thousand verified penny items on the app and the number keeps getting bigger every week.
You can find food, clothing, bags, and kitchen items that cost only a penny. This app will teach you how.
The Penny Finder app was created for both iOS and Google Play. It costs $2.99, which many people wonder if it is worth it. We will examine its features to figure out if the price is right for you.

“This app is a godsend! It paid for itself the first day I downloaded it in the clearance aisle of my local dollar general LOL I’ve literally gotten over 1200 items in the last week. This is a scavenger hunt and if you’re too lazy to do the hunt it’s just not for you. Some days you find nothing some days you find a plethora. But the app has NEVER let me down!!!” One reviewer said.
“I love this app I just started using it but it is so helpful!! Can’t wait to find these pennies!! The shelters I donate to will be so happy and excited for all the new stuff I bring,” said another reviewer.
“This app is very helpful when penny shopping at Dollar General! I love to use it as an extra way of verifying that the items I have are indeed a penny. I have had no problems using the app and I love that it is a community-supported app so everyone can have their input and fun,” said one Facebook reviewer.
“I had heard about this app and was so excited to try it. I have found several penny items from using the app and couldn’t be more happy with my app purchase! Paid for itself over and over,” said one reviewer.
Does Dollar General Have Price Scanning?
It’s likely you won’t find a price scanner within the store. However, the Dollar General Go! App has a price scanner that lets you track the total cost of your cart. This is useful if you want to track the cost of something that might be a penny item.
Final Thoughts
So is it worth the cost?
Most users report that once they find just one penny item, the app has paid for itself. Since there are literally thousands of items on their app that are reported to be penny items, you have a good chance of saving way more money than the cost of the $2.99 app.

I paid to install the Penny Finder App on my Note 9, every time I try to use it it shuts down. It will open and as soon as I pull down to update or try to search or use it it drops off. I do not reccoment this app to anyone all you are doing is throwing away 3 bucks on an app that wont work and a company that does not care to help you or refund your purchase for faulty worthless app.
