Donating plasma for money is a great way to make extra cash and do something good at the same time.
Octapharma Plasma, along with BioLife and CSL Plasma, is one of the highest paying plasma donation centers in the country.
But their pay structure can be confusing and that’s where an Octapharma Plasma Pay Chart can come in handy.
Octapharma Plasma has more than 150 locations across 35 U.S. states. To locate a donation center near you, go to the Find Your Plasma Donation Center page and search for it by city, state, or zip code.
Before you donate plasma at an Octapharma Plasma donation center, there are a few basic requirements you need to meet:
- Weigh at least 110 pounds
- or: Be between 18 and 70
- or: A four-month deferral for piercings and tattoos
- or: A photo ID, Social Security number, and proof of residency
In the United States alone, 6.5 units of plasma are needed for individuals who are sick or injured. When you donate plasma, you’re helping many patients while getting paid for it.

How Donors Receive Payment
Octapharma Plasma pays donors via a prepaid card. Expect to receive your payment within a day after your plasma donation. (Getting payment through a prepaid card is especially convenient if you lack a bank account.)
Octapharma Plasma Pay Chart
As mentioned earlier, their pay is structured differently for first time and returning donors. So I am going to give you their pay rate for each group of donors separately.
Payment Procedure for New Donors
New donor? You’ll earn $50 each for the first five donations, and you can donate twice a week. There’s a catch, however. You have to wait at least two days between donations since your body replaces plasma every 24 to 48 hours.
Furthermore, it’s imperative that you return for your second donation because the staff won’t use your first donation just yet. (They have to test it to ensure it’s safe for hospital patients.) Once you are in the clear, you’re welcome to donate as much or as little as you like.
As a new member, you even get a new donor bonus! This bonus varies from location to location, but it could be a few hundred dollars during your first month. Great!
Payment Procedure for Return Donors
If you decide to return to give subsequent donations, as mentioned earlier, you’ll receive $50 for the first five donations. Afterward, you’ll earn up to $65 per donation.
Octapharma Plasma provides a Payment Program Calculator for return donors to determine their pay level. How does this work?
- Visit your Donor Portal, and enter your name, birthdate, and the last five digits of your Social Security number to find out the number of donations you gave for the past 35 days.
- Head over to your local donation center to view the chart so that you can figure out your level based on the number of donations you gave.
- Then, locate your weight class to pinpoint your payment. Easy as 1, 2, 3.
Though it’s not required, I highly recommend you download the OctaApp.
Why? Because there are so many things you can do with it like find plasma centers, view your card balance, and monitor donation levels.

Additionally, the OctaApp comes with OctaPass, one of its most convenient features. With it, you can:
- or: Fill out the health questionnaire faster every time you want to donate plasma
- or: Save donor information in its QR code
- or: Show your OctaPass to the staff to get quick access to the screening line
Get the OctaApp for iOS or Android.
Other Ways to Get Extra Money from OctaPass
The Octapharma Plasma pay chart gives you a ballpark idea of how payment works for new and returning donors. That being said, Octapharma Plasma offers other methods to increase your earnings.
Refer One or More Friends
Do you have any buddies interested in making some cash? Direct them to Octapharma Plasma, and get up to $100 per person.
How? If you have the OctaApp, generate a “Refer a Friend” code. Next, tell them about the facility and remind them to bring their QR code.
Once your friend completes their initial donation, you’ll get $50; you’ll receive $25 after they complete their second donation.
(Note: Any friends you invite have to be first-time donors for you to qualify for referral payments.)
Earn OctaRewards
It literally pays to be a loyal donor. When you go back to donate plasma, you become eligible for special rewards like e-gift cards and Express passes. Sometimes, Octapharma Plasma offers sweepstakes promotions.
If you have any questions concerning payouts or plasma donation in general, please contact your nearest donation center.
Wrapping Everything Up
What’s great about donating plasma is that it’s both a humanitarian and money-making activity. The Octapharma Plasma pay chart should be sufficient to motivate you to get started.

I was comfortable their because nurse and worker were kind and really did great job with people who come their so we can come back with no problem

How much does repeat donors get 1st time
Saeed
Good question Dorothea. As a repeat donor, “You’ll earn $50 for the first five donations and $65 for each donation after that.”
Travis Ratliff
not true they are giving 25 dollars
Saeed
Hmm… I pulled that info form their website. However, they also mention that “Some locations have slightly different fees that reflect the unique aspects of the particular city“, so maybe the pay is lower where you donate?
Brian Fergason
Is it 65 each time after that? I’ll come back if so, but I was getting like 35 cause of my weight. I’ve gained 10 lbs., up to 145, how much if I come back?
Saeed
Yes, according to the company, donors earn $50 for the first 5 donations. After that, you earn up to $65 per donation.
Donald sephus
how can you find out what you will be getting on your next donation.
Annie
do they not offer a big new donor bonus?
Saeed
Thanks for the question Annie. Yes, the do! As mentioned in the post, they don’t say how much exactly that bonus is, but they do hint at “hundreds of dollars the first month!”
LA
im anxious to see what happens I’ll b a new doner in the a.m.
Saeed
Good luck!
Alan Norton
I came back after 2 months and was only paid $35
Saeed
If you don’t mind me asking, which Octapharma plasma center (in what city) did you go to?
And also, did they mention why they didn’t pay you $50 (which they do for the first 5 after your very first donation)?
MIA
Here In Charleston Sc We’ve got quite a few of Plasma Donation Centers… The one I go to I get fifty five dollars for my first visit & sixty five dollars for my second visit during the week. If your able to make 8 visits during month Then you receive eighty five dollars on the eighth visit.
Saeed
Thank you so much for sharing that Mia. If you don’t mind me asking, what’s the name of the center you go to?
MissJulistic
Here in Richmond Va the very first two times they give you 100$ after that it’ll drop to 65$ but if you wait awhile that 65 turns into 45… I’m not to big on the process so I only did it for the first two 100$ and then I was gonna go to get the 65 I waited I’ll say maybe two or three weeks and that 65 drastically changed to 45 so yea if you don’t go consistently the amounts will change so if your trying to get the highest payouts I would suggest going frequently, I know it’s saving other lives but that process is not something I would want to keep going through.
Saeed
Thank you so much from sharing that. Very helpful.
Donald Sephus
if you keep going constinly does the pay change.
Saeed
Yes, but I believe there is a cap.
Kat
these statements are no longer accurate as of July 2024. I am a new donor at octapharma in Kalamazoo,MI and the new donor pay is as follows.
1st – $75
2nd – $125
3rd thru 6th – $75
7th – $100
once the new donor pay is done they now do payments based off your weight and hematocrit levels so you don’t know what your payments will be until you’re in rhe donor chair getting hooked up. the person doing your vitals doesn’t even know how much you’re going to be donating only the person hooking you up know. they also have 3 different levels of payments depending on how many times within that month/35 day period the most pay is now the 8th, 9th and 10th donation days of the month so if you don’t go twice a week you won’t get the higher paying amounts. there’s pros and cons to this new payment schedule they are doing. I personally don’t care for it and don’t plan on going back once I’m done with my new donor pay. there’s other places that aren’t so complicated on their pay scale and pay more.
Saeed
Thank you for sharing that, Kat. I just checked their official website but couldn’t find any updates regarding their new or returning donor pay structure. I’m guessing the pay rate might vary by location; perhaps they increase it slightly in areas with fewer donors to encourage participation.
Either way, thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. It’s very helpful, especially for our readers who are new to donating. The details you provided will give them a better idea of what to expect.
