Are you in the market for some high-end electronics, audio equipment, or apparel?
Perhaps you need something higher-end than what Walmart has to offer or you don’t trust what random strangers have to say on Amazon.
In this Drop.com review, we’ll be showing you one of the best deal sites (according to many shoppers) where you can get high-quality items designed by people who care.
Best of all, it’s not as expensive as you might think!
Drop is a new kind of web service, according to Business Insider. It’s not a retailer, and it doesn’t have any kind of item on hand to sell you. Instead, it acts as a middleman between manufacturers and customers.

While the site may at first glance look like a simple web store, the process that goes into its selection is actually quite unusual. Everything that is sold on the site is decided by customers like you.
Drop products are designed to meet the needs that customers ask for. It’s all highly customized and special ordered for the people who use the site. Best of all, the products can be sold for less than retail because it’s not being mass-produced by the millions.

How Are Drop Products Made?
This site has a three-step process for creating their products:
- concept
- development
- production
Customers are always kept in the loop on what their lab is doing and you can also see all the products that are currently being created. This helps you figure out what you want to buy months in advance.
Concept
This is the stage in which Drop takes customer suggestions for their next product. They offer polls, discussion forms, and Q and As where you can actively help them create what you want to see.

Development
The site’s top experts in their field start creating and designing a product. As it is created, the community is encouraged to give feedback to make it even better.
Production
Once the design process is done, the product is available for a limited amount of time. Only a certain number is created, based on community interest.
What Kind of Products Can I Get?

You can find:
- Apparel
- Accessories
- Art supplies
- Entertainment
- Electronics

- Garden supplies
- Office supplies

- Vehicle parts
How Much Money Can I Save?
The best way to see the possible savings is to compare prices.
Here are a few examples we’ve found:
- Persol Eyeglasses (PO3209CV) retail for $340 on the Persol website. On Drop, they sell for $70.
- Pro4S Studio Headphones retail for $150 on KOSS, but sell for $100 on Drop.
- The Movado watch retails for almost $700 at Zales but you can get it for $219 on Drop.
Generally, most items are about 50% off or more of their retail prices. However, some items are made specifically for the website.
Because these items are so customized and specially made, they may be more expensive. However, they are generally very high-quality items.
Massdrop Name Change
Many people have been curious why Drop rebranded itself from its previous name, Massdrop.
This is the official statement Drop gave about the rebranding: “The name Massdrop originated when we were just a group-buying site, but we are so much more than that now — and you are anything but “mass.” We wanted a name that was a nod to our roots, strong, but also gave us room to have fun and grow because what we’re collectively doing is truly amazing.”
They likely did the rename so they could appeal to more people. According to Digital Trends, after rebranding, the site also releases several new types of products. It seems that once they rebranded, they were able to expand their site to a broader audience and offer more goods.
Better Business Bureau Rating
Before shopping at this business, you may want to know what the Better Business Bureau says about Drop.
According to them, this company has been in business for 7 years. Oddly enough, it reports that the business has only one employee but that information is probably outdated.
Drop is not accredited with the BBB. It’s rated F due to the lack of responses it’s given to complaints and the number of complaints they’ve gotten. There 17 complaints closed in the last 3 years. 13 complaints were closed in last 12 months. They have a 2 star out of 5 ratings out of customer reviews on the site.

Customer Reviews of Drop
So the major question people have: is Drop reputable? A lot of customers dislike the recent rebranding of the site but what about their actual experiences?
Here are some reviews that give a good picture of what it is like.
“I’ve bought maybe a total of 5 items under $300 dollars. I like the community, website, experience, and sure maybe most deals are not huge savings but there are some great nuggets here and there,” said one Reddit user.
“I’ve never not gotten items I’ve purchased from them. However the hassle often isn’t worth the small discount you usually get. Sometimes you can find the same or similar merchandise from other vendors for a couple of bucks more and shipping that doesn’t take 3+ weeks,” said another Reddit user.
“It’s legit, but I’ve heard of people having issues getting it delivered. Plus you have to wait an absurd amount of time for it to ship. My recommendation is to wait until they go on sale elsewhere (like Amazon/Best Buy) again, which will happen in 3-4 weeks, and just get it there. You’ll have better customer service and quick delivery,“ said this Reddit review.
Pros and Cons
After reading tons of reviews and experiences from customers, here are the pros and cons we’ve found on shopping from the site.
Pros
The positive aspects of the site are:
- Often times it’s cheaper to buy items from them
- It creates an alternative way to shop, which breeds innovation for online shopping
- It encourages users to help the site develop what should be sold on the site
Cons
The negative aspects of the site are:
- Very slow shipping that can take up to months
- Some items don’t have warranties
- Items aren’t in stock at all times because everything is sold in limited numbers
- Reported to have poor customer service
Is Massdrop Worth It?
So should you buy from Massdrop?
That really depends on your own standards.
While Drop isn’t a scam in any way, they don’t have the best customer service and Massdrop slow shipping seems to be a trend.
For many users, these two things alone make the site not worth the effort. However, Drop does provide a lot of high-quality, exclusive items you can’t get anywhere else. Some would argue that this is worth all the trouble it is to get it.
Personally, I think Drop is only good for someone who is in the market for a high-quality, customized item you can’t afford the retail price on. If you are willing to wait a few months to save $100 or so, then Drop is going to be worth it. However, if the item is something you can easily get at Amazon for around the same price, you’re better off just shopping there.

Massdrop uses the word Ponzi Scheme or they even say it is their system. People do not know the meaning of the Ponzi Scheme or what is Ponzi Scheme
Ponzi Scheme used by con artists to scam and to swindle money.
Ponzi Scheme came from Charles Ponzi a known Con artist and swindler. Ponzi Scheme is illegal in most countries since the Philippines does not have proper law regarding this kind of system. it is legal here.
the website does not even have a real address and contact information

Massdrop is a different site now. This review is about Drop.com and the Drop app. They used to be called MassDrop but have changed their name and domain name. So MassDrop has nothing to do with this company.
