Before starting the program, you have to take a few practice studies so that the company can verify that you are capable to do their surveys.

During a study, they record three things:

• Your face
• Your voice
• Your screen

So you will need a mic and web camera to participate. However, you can also use any smartphone or tablet that has a camera to do the studies.

How do I join?

In order to become an IntelliZoom participant you must be:

• 18 years or older
• Live in the US or UK
• Able to speak English fluently
• Able to follow directions and think out loud
• Willing to have your face and voice recorded

There are also several technical requirements you need to meet:

• Email and SMS text message capabilities
• Laptop or desktop computer and/or mobile device
• A built-in or external webcam
• A built-in or external microphone

Now that you know what it takes, here’s how you can sign up:

• Step 1: Visit this link and click the sign-up link on the upper right corner of the page.
• Step 2: Enter your personal info (email, password, DOB, etc) and hit the “sign-up” button at the end of the application.
• Step 3: Confirm your account by clicking the confirmation link in the email they send you.
• Step 4: Start doing your practice studies so you can prove you’re capable for the program.
• Step 5: Get paid by doing they studies they send you.

Once you sign up, you have to take a few practice studies to prove yourself. Once your study results are approved, you’ll start getting invitations for paid studies via email.

Studies

Most studies take on average about 10 to 20 minutes to complete.

The number of studies you are invited too will depend on your demographics and quality rating. The more in-depth you are while taking studies, the better your quality rating will become.

They offer a multitude of different kinds of studies. Most invites you receive will be TOL (Think Out Loud) studies.

Here’s a list of all the types of studies and their descriptions:

TOL (Think Out Loud)

TOL studies require that you think out loud as you complete a task. Your face and voice will be recorded while you do the study, so you will need to have your web camera and microphone on for the task.

Non-TOL (Non-Think Out Loud)

Non-TOL studies do not record your face or voice. Here are a few Non-TOL surveys you might be asked to do:

Card Sort

Card sort studies give you a list of things to categorize into certain topics.

SSCT (Screenshot Click Test)

This study will give you an image and then ask you to click on certain spots within the image to find something.

Moderated

Moderated studies will have a moderator to guide you through the study. You may be one-on-one with someone, but usually, you will be in a group of other participants. These types of studies will be scheduled in advance.

Diary

These require you to do tasks over a specific period of time. During this time, you will document your thoughts and findings. This kind of study will also be scheduled in advance.

Getting paid

Payments are sent via PayPal to the email address you signed up through.

If you don’t have a PayPal account, you’ll need to make one to receive your money.

Payments are sent within 21 business days after completing the study.

How much you are paid depends on the study, which will be shown to you before you take the study. Most standard surveys will pay about $5 on average. For studies that require you to think out loud and record your face, you can expect to make an average of $10.

Is Intellizoom safe & legit?

Intellizoom is owned by a company called YouEye, Inc.

According to the Better Business Bureau, YouEye, Inc. has a A+ rating.

They currently have 0 complaints made against them.

Pros and cons

There are a lot of benefits and a few negatives to using this site as is evident from reviews found on Reddit and other forums like BeerMoneyForum.

The major benefit is that it pays quite well compared to other survey sites. If you manage to get invited to a few $10 surveys, you could make over $50 in just a few weeks.

“Intellizoom is one of the user-testing companies I am working for. Just yesterday made a CNN test for them, and even if the test doesn’t come often (in a few months I made 4-5 of them), they do appear and the $10 to PayPal appear to, so it’s a serious site,” said one reviewer.

The main negative to the site is that sometimes its hard to get invited to surveys. Often times they fill up quickly, so you need to accept their invitation right away.

Also, you need to have some fairly nice equipment, such as a webcam and microphone, in order to participate in the studies.

Tips for making more money

In order to earn a lot of money from the site, you need to prove that you are a good study applicant.

Here are a few tips to earn yourself a high rating:

• Take the study in a place with good lighting so your camera fully shows your face
• Make sure your camera and microphone are working before you start a study.
• Take the study in a place that has a strong and fast internet connection.
• Read the instructions and always be thorough while completing a task.
• Speak your mind, and don’t be afraid to say something you think is obvious.
• Keep your study invite emails saved, so you will have a good record of all the surveys you’ve completed.

So, is it worth it?

Ultimately, I think this is one of the better survey sites out there.

The company that hosts the studies is reliable about paying its users and cares about quality.

You may find yourself working a little harder with the studies you are invited too, but for $10 each, it’s worth it.
