If you enjoy listening to audiobooks and other content on Audible, then you might be wondering how to get free Audible credits so you can listen to Audible audiobooks for free.
In 2020, audiobook sales revenue in the United States reached $1.3 billion, continuing the upward trend which began in 2018.
One of the best-known audiobook platforms out there is Audible.
So popular in fact that a lot of people actually make money on Audible now!
Audible is an American audiobook and podcast service that allows you to purchase and stream audiobooks and other forms of spoken content.
Audible is an Amazon subsidiary and it’s great for anyone who loves to read audiobooks or listen to podcasts.

Customers pay a subscription fee each month which gives them access to thousands of audiobooks, podcasts, and originals.
There are two plans to choose from, including Audible Plus, which costs $7.95 a month and Audible Premium Plus, which costs $14.95 a month.
With an Audible subscription, you can listen to any audiobook in the “included” library no matter which subscription you purchase. It’s basically a streaming service for audiobooks.
Not all content is included in the subscription though. If you want to listen to an audiobook that isn’t included in your subscription, then you will need Audible credits.
If you want to keep an audiobook, you will need to purchase it using an Audible Credit.
You can use an Audible credit to purchase any audiobook regardless of its price.
The titles that you purchase from Audible with credit are yours to keep and they are available for you to download across multiple devices. Even if you cancel your Audible membership, your account remains active, meaning that the titles you purchased with credit will always be accessible on any devices that you use for listening.
Since some audiobooks can set you back like $40, using credit to buy them can save you a huge amount of money!
That’s why getting extra credits if you can, is such a great idea.

How to Get Free Audible Credits
Below, I’ll give you tips on how to get free Audible credits.
Advertisements
1. Get free credits when you sign up for an Audible free trial
The easiest way to get free Audible credits is to sign up for a free trial of Audible.
As I mentioned before, Audible provides two membership options, which are:
- Audible Plus
- Audible Premium Plus
Both membership types offer a free 30-day trial.
If you sign up for a free trial of the Audible Premium Plus membership and you’re a Prime member, you can get 2 credits for free.
A standard Audible Premium Plus trial includes 1 credit.
You can sign up for a free trial here.
2. Opt for the Audible Premium Plus membership
After the Audible free trial ends, you can still get free credits.
But, you will need an Audible Premium Plus membership.
The Audible Premium Plus membership is more expensive than the Audible Plus membership.
The Audible Plus membership only costs $7.95 a month, whereas the Audible Premium Plus membership costs $14.95 a month.
While the Audible Premium Plus membership is more expensive, it comes with 1 free credit each month. So, each year, you get 12 free credits. The best part is that you can keep your monthly credits for up to a year.
Although you might be considering the cheaper membership option, if you are looking for more Audible credits, then you’ll definitely want to opt for the Audible Premium Plus membership.
3. Consider annual plans and plans that come with additional credits
Now, I mentioned earlier that there are two main types of Audible plans and how much each one costs.
There are actually a few different types of Audible Premium Plus memberships, which give you additional credits or credits for less money than the regular monthly plan.
The number of credits you get and how much it costs depends on the membership option you choose.
So, if you want to purchase Audiobooks and keep them, rather than just streaming them from the included library, then you might want to opt for a membership plan that offers more free credits each month, or an annual one that gives you credits at a lower cost than the monthly plan.
Here are the credits available with each Audible Premium Plus membership option:
- Audible Premium Plus Annual – 12 Credits per year
The Audible Plus Annual membership gives you 12 free credits per year, so 1 free credit per month, just like the regular monthly Audible Premium Plus membership does.
The difference is the cost. The annual membership actually works out cheaper.
- The monthly Audible Premium Plus plan costs $14.95 a month.
- The annual Audible Premium Plus plan costs $149.50 a year, which works out to around just $12.45 per month.
So, you get the same number of credits with the annual plan as you do with the monthly membership, but it costs you less money.
- Audible Premium Plus – 2 Credits per month
This membership comes with 2 credits per month for any premium selection titles. It costs $22.95 a month. So, you get 24 credits a year.
- Audible Premium Plus Annual – 24 Credits
There’s an annual version of the above Audible Premium Plus – 2 Credits per month membership. Just like with that membership, you get 24 credits a month, but you pay for the membership annually.
It costs $229.50 a year. When you divide that by 12, it works out to a cost of around $19.12 per month. If you pay for the same membership monthly with the plan above, it would cost $22.95 a month, as I said earlier.
So, if your budget allows you to pay for the membership annually, then you should definitely consider the annual 24 credits option. It works out cheaper.
4. Return books (but not too often)
Audible Premium Plus members can return titles without losing credit. This means that if you want to return an audiobook that you purchased with a credit, you can do so, and you’ll get the credit back.
The return policy is there to help members who want to try a new narrator or story without losing a credit, or return titles purchased by mistake.
Amazon will refund the purchase back to whatever payment method you used. So, if you used a credit card to pay for the audiobook, you’ll get the refund back to your credit card, and if you used an Audible credit to purchase the audiobook, you’ll get the refund back as an Audible credit.
This, technically, means that you can return a book after listening to it and get the credit back and use that credit to buy another book essentially for free. This is a little morally dubious though, and I wouldn’t recommend doing this too often.
Amazon says, “Our ability to offer this policy is dependent on our members using it only for these purposes. We reserve the right to monitor returns for any abuse, such as excessive returns, frequent return of titles after prolonged listening, or returns of multiple titles at a time. In instances where we find return privileges are being misused, Audible reserves the right in its sole discretion to limit the number of returns allowed by each member, including, but not limited to, the loss of return privileges.”
If you get a book and decide you don’t like it, you don’t have to worry about wasting a credit. You can return the book for a refund and get your credit back. Returns must be made within 365 days of purchase.

5. Get free PayPal cash and use it to buy 3 credits
If you are running low on credits for your Audible Premium Plus monthly or annual membership, and it is before your renewal date, you will occasionally see a special offer where you can purchase additional credits.
This special offer also applies if you are on a gift membership, put your membership on a hold, or switch to another Premium Plus membership.
Here’s the criteria that may initiate this special offer if you are on the Audible website:
- You have been an Audible Premium Plus member for at least 30 days
- You have one or zero credits left on your account.
Here’s the criteria that may initiate this special offer if you are on the Audible Google Play or iOS app:
- You have been an Audible Premium Plus member for at least 30 days
- You have zero credits left on your account
You can buy 3 extra credits. Usually, it costs around $35 for the 3 credits. So, this means that you can get 3 audiobooks and each one will cost you around $11.66. Since some audiobooks can cost as much as $40 each, this is a great deal.
Of course, the cost of purchasing the pack of 3 credits varies, so check to see the exact price on offer when you come to purchase these additional credits.
While purchasing these extra credits can save you money on audiobooks, there is a way to get these credits for free!
This means that you don’t have to pay anything to get three extra books.
All you need to do is use reward websites.
Reward websites are sometimes known as “get paid to” websites because you get paid to do tasks like watching videos, taking surveys, and playing games.
Many of these websites and apps pay you by PayPal. You can just send your earnings to your bank account, and then use the money to purchase those extra credits. Then, you’ve got 3 additional credits for free!
Here are some great reward websites:
Swagbucks
Swagbucks is one of the most well-known reward websites out there.
Swagbucks pays you for:
- Playing games
- Shopping online
- Browsing the internet
- Taking surveys
- Watching videos
- Completing offers
- Uploading your receipts
When you complete these tasks, Swagbucks gives you points called Swag Points (SB).
You can redeem your points for money to your PayPal account.
Simply transfer your money from your PayPal account into your bank account and use your attached credit or debit card to purchase credits on Audible. You essentially get the credits for free!
Oh, and Swagbucks actually offers Amazon gift cards as a PayPal option as well. While Audible doesn’t accept Amazon gift cards as a payment option, you can use Amazon gift cards to pay for your Prime membership.
And, as I said before, being a Prime member is beneficial because you can get 2 free credits with your free trial, rather than the 1 credit that comes with the standard free trial.
Also, if you use an Amazon gift card to pay for your Prime membership, you essentially get it for free!

InboxDollars
InboxDollars will pay you for doing a variety of tasks, such as:
- Shopping online
- Taking surveys
- Reading emails
- Playing games
These are tasks you probably already do anyway, so why not get paid for them?
You can get free cash sent to your PayPal account. Again, you can simply transfer this cash to your bank account and use the money to buy those 3 audible credits for free!
InboxDollars also offers gift cards too, which are great for saving money on other purchases and even getting stuff for free. For example, you want free books? Redeem your earnings for an Amazon gift card and use it to pay for the books.
Qmee
Qmee is another really good rewards website that pays you for doing tasks, like:
- Shopping online
- Taking surveys
- Searching the internet
What’s great about reward websites, like Qmee and Swagbucks, is that they give you money for doing tasks that you most likely do anyway. They provide such an easy way to make some extra cash.
The best part about Qmee, other than it gives you an easy way to make money, is that it has no minimum cash out amount. This means that you can get your earnings fast!
You can have your cash sent to your PayPal account. Then, you can move it to your bank account and use the money to get some free Audible credits. Qmee also offers gift cards, so you can save money on other things and get plenty of other freebies!
Rewardr
Rewardr is an app you can use to get free cash to buy more Audible credits.
It pays you to:
- Download apps
- Play games
- Complete surveys
You can have the cash sent right to your PayPal account.

QuickRewards will pay you for:
- Playing games
- Completing offers
- Taking surveys
You can get paid right to your PayPal account. Then you can move the cash to your bank account and use it to get those 3 extra Audible credits for free.
The best part about QuickRewards is that you can withdraw your earnings with as little as 1 cent in your account. So, you don’t have to wait for ages to withdraw your money. As soon as you have earned enough to pay for the Audible credits, you can withdraw your earnings, and get extra credits for free!
6. Look out for Audible sales and deals
If you want free credits and to save money on Audible credits, then make sure you look out for Audible sales and deals.
For example, with a Premium Plus membership, you can get access to deals and savings, like
- A 30% discount on additional audiobook purchases
- Exclusive sweepstakes
- The Audible Daily deal, which is a featured audiobook that’s discounted just for members. The Audible Daily Deal changes every day.
You can use these deals that are offered by Audible to get more for your credits.
One type of great offer that Audible provides with a Premium Plus membership is the 2-for-1 deal. With this deal, you can use your credit to get two books for the price of one!
Audible members can choose from a selection of titles in the 2-for-1 shop. Make sure you lookout for the 2-for-1 deal, as you can get a book for free!
In previous years, Audible has hosted its 2-for-1 sale in February. It’s important to be on the lookout for deals all year round though.
7. Share audiobooks with Amazon Household
Amazon Household is a feature that allows you to share your Amazon/Audible content with another Amazon account. So, if you want more audiobooks for your spouse, for example, but you don’t want to have to spend more credits, you can simply share the ones you’ve already purchased with others.
Members of a household can include:
- Up to two adults, each with their own Amazon account.
- Up to four children. Children do not need an Amazon account in order to have a profile.
Amazon Household allows you to share your purchased Audible titles between two adult household profiles. So, if you and your spouse both want to listen to the same audiobook, but you both don’t want to have to use up credits, you can instead share the audiobooks that you have purchased.
You cannot share your Audible Premium Plus membership credits or titles included in the Plus Catalog with the other member of your Amazon Household.
It’s important to note that with Amazon Household, you not only share your Amazon/Audible content with another Amazon account, but also your payment methods.
