Picture this…
As you’re on your daily commute, your gas light comes on alerting you to low fuel.
You see two gas stations on each side of the street, so you pull into the one that has the cheaper gas prices (usually half a cent or so).
You fill up and drive away, giving yourself a virtual pat on the back for saving money on gas.
Literally, a minute or two later you drive past a different gas station with much lower gas prices! You just can’t believe your luck.
It’s frustrating, isn’t it?

Other Cheap Gas Apps
Here are a few more apps that help you locate gas stations with the cheapest gas prices near you.
Cheap Gas App that No Longer Exist
Our original post had a few more apps for finding cheap gas. Sadly, since then, a few of those apps have stopped working. Just leaving them here for archival reasons.
Cheap Gas
Another good app for finding low prices for fuel throughout the country is Cheap Gas.
Using your mobile phone’s GPS, an app called Cheap Gas finds the lowest prices for gas near you.
You can also search for cheap gas prices by entering your zip code, address or city.
The app is pretty simple, but it’s a good tool to have on your phone.
Where to install it:
- Android
Gas By Me
Sure, apps that have all sorts of fancy gas comparison tools and complex searches, as well as other features, like maps and traffic updates are great.
But, if you’re just looking for something that’s simple and easy to use, then you should definitely check out Gas By Me.
Using this app, you can find the best price for gas in your area in just a few simple steps.
Enter your gas station and location, and then use the navigation to get to the station with the cheapest prices.
Where to get it:
- Android
Simple Cheap Gas Prices Finder
Another wonderful app if you want something really simple and easy to use is the Simple Cheap Gas Prices Finder.
This little-known app does exactly what its name says. It finds you the cheapest prices for gas, and it’s really simple to navigate.
Even the app’s developers state that this app is super basic in comparison to other cheap gas apps out there, like Gas Buddy or MapQuests’ Gas Prices app – but that’s the point of it.
With this app, you just get a sortable list of gas prices near you.
It’s a great app if you’re low on time, and you really just want something simple, no frills.
The only downside to this app is that the prices are only updated every two days. So, they’re not going to be as accurate as an app like Gas Buddy, which updates prices in real-time.
However, the app is good for finding out which stations generally have the lowest prices.
The app’s developers state that Simple Cheap Gas Price Finder is “perfect for people whose lives don’t revolve around their phones, but would like to save money.”
Where to get it:
- Android
Dash
With this app, you turn your vehicle into a ‘smart car’.
The app allows you to compare the price of gas nearby so that you always get the lowest prices.
It also gives you engine light notifications and features a car locator that allows to you find where you’re parked.
Dash is kind of like Fitbit for cars. When you attach it to your car, you get a driver score and insights into your vehicle.
You’ll need to download the app, and then connect your phone to your car using an On Board Diagnostic device. Don’t worry – it’s not as complex as it sounds.
You can purchase an On Board Diagnostic device from the app, and there’s a handy video here on how to install it.
Don’t worry – you don’t need a mechanic. You can install it yourself. All you need to do is plug the device in under your steering wheel.
You can also connect your phone to your car using Bluetooth.
Once the phone is connected to your car, Dash works to help your driving become “smarter, safer, greener and more affordable.”
Where to install it:
- iOS
- Android
