What is Cash App and Can You Make Money with It?
Cash App is a peer-to-peer (P2P) mobile payment service owned by Block, Inc. (formerly Square Inc.).
Recently, mobile payment apps like Cash App, Venmo, and PayPal have become incredibly popular.
Cash App stands out as one of the most popular P2P mobile payment services, with nearly 30% of US P2P mobile payment users on the platform.
Its popularity is no surprise. Cash App offers a range of useful features:
– Send and receive money anytime, for free
– Invest in stocks and bitcoin with just $1
– Access your paycheck up to two days early
– Enjoy free ATM withdrawals (if you have at least $300 coming in each month)
With all these features, it makes sense that Cash App is used by more than 40 million people.
While Cash App provides many valuable services, many people wonder if there are ways to make money directly through the app. Can you actually get free money on Cash App?
There are indeed ways to get free money on Cash App, but is the Cash App $100 to $800 scheme one of them?

What is the Cash App $100 to $800 Scheme?
The $100 to $800 offer on Cash App is a type of Cash App flip scam where someone promises to turn a smaller amount of money into a larger sum.
In this scheme, you’re asked to invest $100 with the promise of receiving $800 back. This scam often appears as a post on social media or a direct message.
Participants are usually invited to join a “money circle” or “blessing loom.” The scammer claims that by contributing $100 and reposting the original message, you’ll receive eight payments of $100 each, totaling $800.
Other Forms of the Cash App $100 to $800 Scam
The Cash App $100 to $800 scam comes in various forms. Here are a few common ones:
- Investment Scam: Someone may claim they can invest your $100 and return $800 to you.
- Money Glitch Scam: Scammers might say there’s a temporary glitch in the Cash App system that allows you to get free cash before it’s fixed.
In each case, you’re asked to put your own money on the line with the promise of future returns.
Is the Cash App $100 to $800 Scheme Legit?
Like all Cash App flips, the Cash App $100 to $800 scheme is a scam. If you encounter anyone asking for money with the promise of a future payoff or see posts claiming you can turn $100 into $800, avoid them. These offers are not legitimate.
Many people live paycheck to paycheck, so it’s understandable to consider offers that seem to promise quick returns. However, these offers are often scams.
These so-called “blessing looms” or “money circles” that promise to multiply your investment are designed to steal your money.
Not All “Money Circle” or “Blessing Loom” Posts Are from Scammers
Interestingly, while Cash App flip groups are scams, they are not always promoted by scammers. Well-meaning friends and family members might share details about these groups, hoping to benefit themselves and others.
Unfortunately, because these groups operate like pyramid schemes, they inevitably fail somewhere down the line. This means you could lose your $100, or worse, you might unknowingly set up your friends and family to lose money as well. Even with good intentions, recommending these groups to others can result in financial losses for everyone involved.
The Problem with “Blessing Looms,” “Money Circles,” and Other Cash App Flip Groups
These groups do not provide any real cashback. Even if they weren’t scams, these schemes are flawed from the start.
There aren’t enough participants in these money circles to ensure that everyone receives the promised $800. Most people will end up losing their money, with no returns.
Here’s how pyramid schemes typically fail:
For instance, if 10 people join a Cash App $100 to $800 flipping group and each pays $100, the total pool is only $1,000. This means only one person might receive the $800, while the others lose their $100 investment. The numbers simply don’t add up.
Pyramid schemes are fundamentally flawed and do not work. The Cash App $100 to $800 schemes you see online are fraudulent from the start!
Scammers use these schemes to promote fake Cash App flip groups on social media, tricking people into sending $100 or more. There is no actual circle or “blessing loom” involved—it’s all a scam.
These schemes can take many forms. For example, scammers might claim they will invest your money in the stock market or another venture, promising you substantial returns. They may even post fake messages or testimonials to make their offers appear convincing.
Are All Cash App Flips Scams?
Many Cash App flip promotions circulate on social media, and you might even receive a message with such an offer.
Despite their different appearances, these scams generally follow the same premise: you invest a small amount of money with the promise of receiving a much larger return. Often, these schemes involve joining a “blessing loom” group where the scammer claims that by participating and paying through Cash App, you’ll be positioned to collect a significant payout within hours.
It sounds great, and like everyone wins, but no one does. Since it is basically a pyramid scheme, it doesn’t work. Only scammers profit from these types of schemes.
Sometimes the $100 to $800 scam will come in a different form, as I said above. For example, someone may claim to have found a glitch in the app and say that if you give them $100 now, they’ll be able to get $800 back to you. But, you have to do it right now before the “glitch” is fixed. This is basically to get you to part with your money fast – you know, before you have time to think it over and perhaps realize it’s not quite copacetic.
So, are all of these flips scams?
Yes!
If anyone claims to offer you money if you give some of your money upfront, it’s usually a scam.
With some of these scams, the scammer may try to seem legit by sending you a small amount of money first. For example, they may ask you to send them $2, and then they’ll flip that money for you and send you $20 back.
This is to gain your trust.
The next time, the scammer will ask for a larger amount, such as $100, and promise to get $800 back to you.
Because the scammer sent money back once, you might assume they will do so again. You might think, *“Well, they sent me $20, and I only had to invest $2 to get that,”* and be tempted to invest a larger amount.
In reality, you won’t see that $100 again. The scammer will simply take your money, and you’ll likely never hear from them again.
Overall, the Cash App $100 to $800 scheme is not a legitimate opportunity. It is a scam!
Don’t Participate in the Cash App $100 to $800 Scheme
You might think that investing $100 for a chance to get $800 is a great deal. After all, who wouldn’t want an extra $700 for savings, car repairs, or to ease financial stress? Many of us live paycheck to paycheck, and extra money is always welcome.
This is why these schemes can be so enticing.
However, not only will you not get $800, but you will also lose the $100 you invested. For some, $100 might not seem like much, but for many who fall victim to this scam, $100 is a significant amount, especially for those already in a difficult financial position.
So, when you join these blessing loom groups, you not only risk your own money, but you also potentially prey on others who might be willing to give up their last $100 in hopes of easing their financial hardship.
Of course, it’s not people’s intention to prey on others. As mentioned earlier, well-meaning individuals might post about these money circles on social media, hoping to benefit themselves and their friends or family. While your intentions may be good, these groups are scams. Therefore, do not participate in the Cash App $100 to $800 scheme, and avoid encouraging your friends and family to join these groups. Never send money to a stranger on Cash App.
There are legitimate ways to get free Cash App money, which I’ll cover in the “Legit Ways to Get Free Cash App Money” section of this post. If you or your friends and family are interested in making money on Cash App, be sure to check out that section for genuine tips.
How to Recognize & Avoid a Cash App Flip Scam
So, how can you recognize scams on Cash App?
There are red flags to watch for, and being aware can help you spot them easily.
The biggest red flag is any post, message, or communication that promises you will make a substantial amount of money—often with little effort!
Sounds great, right? Who wouldn’t want to make hundreds of dollars for doing almost nothing?
Unfortunately, this is not how the world works. As the saying goes, “There’s no such thing as a free lunch.” If something seems too good to be true, it usually is. Always be cautious and skeptical of offers that promise high returns with minimal effort.
No one is going to give you and a bunch of other people online a substantial amount of money just because.
If someone contacts you with an offer to make money with minimal effort or you see a social media post claiming that you can receive a large sum of money by sending a small amount first, it’s likely a scam.
Here are a few tips to help you avoid Cash App scams:
Don’t send money to someone claiming to offer more money at a future date
Although the Cash App $100 to $800 scam appears in various forms, they all share a common trait: you’re required to send $100 to receive $800 at a future date. This is a major red flag. If anyone asks you to send money with the promise of receiving more money later, it’s a scam. Avoid it.
You should never pay money to get money.
Whenever someone starts asking you for money with the promise of future returns, assume it’s a scam. End any communication with them and do not engage with social media posts promoting a $100 to $800 Cash App flip.
Only send money to people you know and trust
To stay safe on Cash App, only send money to individuals you know and trust, such as friends and family members.
So, basically, don’t send money to strangers.
Also be wary of posts from people you know and trust
Avoid sending money as part of a group, such as a blessing loom or money circle, even if the invitation comes from a family member or friend.
As mentioned earlier, while Cash App $100 to $800 groups are scams, not all money circle or blessing loom posts are from scammers. Friends and family members might share these schemes with good intentions, but they are still scams. Be cautious of posts from people you know, no matter how well-meaning they might seem.
Avoid social media accounts that talk about Cash App flips
Another tip is to avoid following or engaging with social media accounts that promote Cash App flipping or money hacks. This way, you can steer clear of scams that promise $800 in return for a $100 investment.
Legit Ways to Get Free Cash App Money
Now that you know the Cash App $100 to $800 flip is a scam and how to avoid it, you might be interested in legitimate ways to make money on Cash App.
Fortunately, there are genuine methods to earn free money on Cash App without paying scammers. These are simple tips that anyone can use.
Now, the allure of scams like the Cash App $100 to $800 scheme lies in the promise of easy money—essentially, getting money with little to no effort. For instance, you might be told to send money to a group and repost about the blessing loom, and then receive $800 in return. Or you might be asked to send $100 to someone who claims they’ll invest it for you and give you $800 back. These schemes prey on the desire for effortless cash.
However, legitimate ways to make money on Cash App do require some effort on your part. I’m not talking about a lot of time, just a bit of effort. Fortunately, these methods are straightforward and accessible, allowing anyone to earn free money on Cash App.
1. Refer a Friend
You can earn money on Cash App by referring friends.
When a friend uses your invite code to send $5 or more from a newly created Cash App account, you earn a bonus.
To qualify for this bonus, your friend must:
- Enter your invite code when signing up.
- Link a new debit card or bank account to their Cash App account. If they are under 18, they can activate a Cash Card instead.
- Send $5 within 14 days of entering the invite code.
To check your invitation bonus amount, tap the profile icon on your home screen.
Getting a referral bonus is a simple way to earn free money on Cash App. While it may not amount to hundreds of dollars, it’s still free money, and you can increase your earnings by referring several people.
2. Complete Fun Tasks on Swagbucks
If you want to earn free money on Cash App, consider completing tasks on Swagbucks. Swagbucks is a legitimate rewards website that pays you for doing easy and often enjoyable tasks online.
With Swagbucks, you can earn rewards for:
- Watching videos
- Shopping online
- Browsing the internet
- Completing offers
- Taking surveys
- Reading paid emails
- Playing games
For completing these tasks, Swagbucks rewards you with points called “Swag Bucks” (SB). You can redeem your points for various rewards, including money to your PayPal account.
While there is no direct way to transfer money from PayPal to Cash App, you can use this workaround:
- Step One: Complete fun and easy tasks on Swagbucks to earn points, which can be redeemed for money to your PayPal account.
- Step Two: Transfer your earnings to your PayPal account.
- Step Three: Link the same bank account to both your PayPal and Cash App accounts.
- Step Four: Transfer your free cash from PayPal into your linked bank account.
- Step Five: Add the cash you transferred from your bank account to your Cash App account.
By completing fun tasks on Swagbucks, you can earn free money in your Cash App account. This is a legitimate way to effectively “flip” the time you spend on Swagbucks for Cash App money.
Use the link in the section heading to earn $5 just for signing up!
3. Enter Cash App’s Sweepstakes
Another legitimate way to get free Cash App money is by entering Cash App’s sweepstakes.
Cash App frequently runs sweepstakes where you can win free money.
In these sweepstakes, Cash App often gives away hundreds of dollars directly into your Cash App account, and sometimes even bitcoin.
For instance, in 2020, Cash App hosted a Super Cash App Friday sweepstake where U.S. residents had the chance to win cash. In this sweepstake, 10 winners received $500 each, 20 winners received $250 each, and 100 winners received $100 each. So, you could potentially win hundreds of dollars in free cash!
Now, it’s important to note that while Cash App does provide legit giveaways, scammers take advantage of these giveaways in an attempt to scam users out of their money.
Scammers get in touch with victims to tell them they’ve won money, but that they have to pay a fee to get their prize. So, you need to be careful with giveaways and watch out for scams.
Only enter sweepstakes from the company’s official Twitter account and/or Instagram account. Both are blue-tick accounts.
It’s definitely worth following Cash App on social media and entering these sweepstakes.
4. Invest in stocks
If you are looking for a legit way to turn a smaller amount of cash into a larger sum, try investing in stocks. You can do this on Cash App. You can invest in stocks with Cash App Investing.
Cash App Investing accounts are self-directed individual brokerage accounts.

What’s great about surveys is that anyone can get started with them, and you can do them right from your phone or computer. It really is such an easy way of earning extra money, which we could all use, right?

Unfortunately, there are no paid survey sites that pay you directly to your Cash App account. Don’t worry, though; there are still survey sites you can use to get free money to your Cash App account. It just requires a bit of finagling!
As I mentioned, some sites pay by direct bank transfer. So, you can move the money right from your bank account to your Cash App balance.
Other survey sites pay you via PayPal. In fact, a lot of survey sites pay you by PayPal.
If the survey site pays you to your PayPal account, follow these steps to get the money to your Cash App account.
- Use one of the survey sites below. Sign up and start taking surveys.
- Transfer the money you earn by taking surveys to your PayPal account.
- Link the same bank account that you have linked to your Cash App account to your PayPal account.

Cash App $100 to $800 is NOT Legit!
If you see a post on social media or get a message about the Cash App $100 to $800 scheme, please avoid it.
These things sound like they could be legit – after all, you just join the “blessing loom” or “money circle,” deposit $100, and you’ll get $800 back if you repost about the group. It sounds so simple. But it’s a pyramid scheme where only the scammers are going to see financial gain.
Other times, you may see a post or a message from someone who claims to have found a “glitch” in the app and that they can get you $800 if you just send them $100. Or it could be a post that says you can earn $800 from investments, and this person is going to invest the $100 for you.
Whatever form this scam takes, Cash App flips are always scams. There are legit ways to make money on Cash App, as I mentioned above, but the Cash App $100 to $800 offer is not one of them. So please avoid this one and keep your money safe.
