Some movie screenings are merely promotional events, and other ones may be held so that film promoters can use the screening to get feedback from viewers. Depending on the type of event, you may be asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement or complete a survey after the film to share your thoughts.
Some film events may encourage you to share your feedback on social media or online.
Occasionally, the movie you see at a screening may not be the finished product. For example, it may be missing credits or special effects.
This is because sometimes, producers show incomplete versions of films so they can gather feedback on the movie before the film production is finished. Even though the version you see may differ slightly from the final film, it’s fun to see a work in progress, and you get to see the movie before everybody else!

Here are some great places to find movie screenings near you…
1. AdvanceScreenings.com

You get a redemption code for the movie that you want to see, and you can redeem it online. You’ll then get a pass, which you can download as a PDF document that you can print out.
Some of these passes actually give you admission for more than one person. So, a pass might say “Admit Two,” which means that you can take a guest with you. However, if the pass says, “Admit One,” then only you can attend on this pass.
You can also enter sweepstakes for the chance to win movie merchandise or attend exclusive events and advanced screenings of upcoming films.
4. Warner Bros.
Film studio Warner Bros. offers free screenings of its upcoming movies. On the website, you can enter your zip code to find film screenings near you.
You’ll just need to redeem a code online, and then you’ll receive your passes for an upcoming screening. Sign up for an account to get codes for advance screenings.
Once you have a code, you can redeem it, download your screening pass, print it out and take it to the theater with you.

Quick tip: Make Sure to Get to the Theater Early!
If you are attending a screening in-person, make sure you get there early.
Even if you do get a free pass, it doesn’t necessarily guarantee you a place in the theater.
This is because there are often more tickets distributed than there are seats available in the theater.
Once all seats are full, remaining pass/ticket holders are turned away.
So, with advance screenings, it’s a good idea to get there earlier than it says on the ticket.
It’s a good idea to get there at least 45 minutes to an hour early.
Getting there early not only ensures you get a seat, but that you get access to any free movie merch, complimentary snacks, and any other freebies that may be on offer.
Closing Thoughts
If you want to watch movies before they are released, then make sure you try the platforms above. It’s an easy way to save money on entertainment.
Of course, movie screenings are not always available in all areas. You’re more likely to find screenings in larger cities, such as New York or Los Angeles than you are in small towns and more rural areas. But, it’s always worth having a look to see what’s available.
