We spend a lot of money buying groceries.
Try YouGov, a survey panel that rewards you for participating in their market research studies. If you join now, you will get 2000 free signup bonus!
According to a Gallup poll, Americans spend $151 a week on groceries on average.
There are tons of cash back sites for when you shop online, but wouldn’t it be nice if you could get cash back for your groceries?…
Yes, it would be!
And thankfully, there is a kind of grocery rebate app that wants to pay you for buying your weekly groceries.
Introducing Checkout 51
Checkout 51 is a cashback app that saves you money from certain grocery purchases.
The app belongs to a Canadian company that is based in Toronto. Three entrepreneurs who have tremendous exposure in the advertising, media and technology space are behind the set up of checkout 51.
How It Works
To take advantage of Checkout 51, you need to be living in either the US or Canada.
It is a straightforward program…
What you need to do is to simply hit the Checkout 51 website and take note of the items on offer there, and you start to figure out how these items could be featured in your grocery supply before you make a trip to the store.
After the purchase is done, you upload a picture of the receipt via the app or the website, as proof that you have spent money on the featured items.
And thanks to your smartphone, it has never been easier to snap a picture of your receipt. You can also use a scanner to scan the receipt and later present the receipt to their website.
Try Swagbucks, the famous rewards program that pays you for watching videos, taking surveys, shopping and more.
Every time you show proof of your shopping, you earn a certain amount of cash back. Once you have accumulated enough, you can ask to be paid.
How Do I Get Paid?
Checkout 51 is great in that it doesn’t set up a high cash out threshold.
In fact, the threshold is set at a lonely $20 only.
At the time of writing, they are still not making use of PayPal. Currently, the only payment option is a check sent over mail.
While some of you may prefer the high-tech mode of electronic payment, there is nothing more gratifying than a solid physical check for me.
What You Should Know
- No mandatory requirement of a smartphone. While there is the Checkout 51 app, you can choose not to use it, as the company has made possible for you to redeem the offers online.
- It doesn’t matter where you buy your stuff. You are able to make good of their offers regardless your choice of stores. So, if the items are featured by Checkout 51, you can make a redemption by uploading receipts from whatever stores you bought them from.
I want to stress that the offers at Checkout 51 are never fixed. They will change the featured items every Thursday. Nevertheless, it is advisable that you recheck and verify the offers just before you send in your receipts.
Most cashback offers a rebate of over $1, which is what I observed. At this moment, there is an offer of $1 cash back for the purchase of any brand of milk.
Is It worth It?
Yes, to me it is!
I mentioned this in my recent post about 20 top money saving apps too.
If you are going to buy something anyway, you may as well go through a channel that gets you some of that spent money back.
So, I would recommend you sign up and give them a try. After all, we all buy groceries, we may as well get some sort of rebate or cash back from our purchases.
